It is thanks to Ilayaraja that someone like me from a non-artistic and non-brahmin family came to love carnatic music. Very grateful to his genius.
Abhirami you need not be a brahmin alone to specialize Carnatic Music. Don't you know Dhakshinamoorthy Pillai ( violinist),Madurai Somu, Seerkazhi Govindarajan,(vocalists) Karaikuruchi Arunachalam and Namagiripettai Krishnan(Nadaswaram)madurai Shanmukha Vadivu(Veena) and Valyapatti (Thavil)All these great musicians are non-brahmins but all of them are of Gandharva Paramparai
Rahman and Illyaraja knows indian classical music and western music at depth. What a blessing for us!
It's just awesome. No words to describe how much I enjoyed this interview.. their singing is like two nightingales singing in harmony❤. They are so unique.

I stood by RaGa on the entire MA issue. Only thing that bothers me is when one overpowers a two people conversation. RaGa is a duo and one referring the entire interview in I-Me-Myself mode irks me personally. Again it’s my personal opinion and I am posting this from my official profile and happy to discuss if anyone has any objection to my pov. Pls make no mistake, I am a huge fan of this duo’s talent anyday!

What the quiter one in the duo is thinking is beyond your comprehension and I would not take your view as authentic enough on that. I don’t mind if this is a non issue. Not here to rant or troll. But pls do not speak for the entire audience and say it’s all in my mind.I repeat, I shared my opinion and you shared your opposing view and that’s 1 against 1.
I feel the same. G is always I, Me, Myself. Always talking over R and over powering her.
But, I also noticed R doesn't mind and is very indulgent of G.
I find this argument unreasonable and a little funny! When you do something, you say, "I did it, " right? : "I went shopping ", "I had a bath", "I cooked rice", etc. You don't say, "we went shopping ", "we had a bath", etc. You don't have to use divine plural in your earthly life!
@@Gatsbycom who is speaking rubbish and funny now? Nobody is asking to use divine plurality. Discussion here is to make literal plurality when the interview is addressed to the duo and not individual. One may have individual opinion and refer singularly but this looked totally skewed. We can agree to disagree and get back to our much more important things in life. This need not go any further. I think I made my point and resting my case here. You may continue your thoughts if you like.

Communicate is communion, union with the godess saraswathi . The song is sung from the singers singing conscience , grammar is not sung from the singing thinking mind . It comes from the communicating music accounting to the syllabus meant for that days sadhana for the audience . Singers lift the music 🎶 dissolve it into the audience, and the refractory music of the heard carnatic music produces joy, calm bhakthi, and devotion, according to the person individually as felt music experience

Few months ago N Murali, MA's chief, including his brother N Ram ridiculed them. Since then The Hindu has only gotten more associated with the sisters. Is it karma or desperation? Time will tell.

There's a systematic misconception that musically underprivileged people cannot appreciate Carnatic renderings. Back then, in the early part of 20th century, people from all walks of life, be it a rickshaw puller, a carpenter, or an auditor for example,gather at tea shops to specifically listen to carnatic based film music.
It is the mischief of those who cannot grasp or perform carnatic music, gave a twist of tyranny by literally murdering good music and introducing nonsense calling it the folklore of music itself.
Movies like Haridas continuously ran for three years. It is in part due to importance of Bhakti and Carnatic way of film music.
While I don't blame Raja Sir, songs like "Padariyaen padippariyaen" is musically BS. It was an assumed compulsion which led to that. It is actually a most brutal and gruesome murder of Raga Saramathi.
It is understandable that getting enough from traditional Kutcheries is getting tough. But RaGa sisters should not stoop down and formalize crap as carnatic wonders 😊.
I salute them for standing up for the fact that Bhakti is an integral part of Carnatic Music.

90% of what you said, I agree. What is a Vegan mridangam ? You mean the one made with plastic? I once purchased for my son, however , ended up finding it difficult to sell it when the learner and their guru felt it didn't sound like the regular Sri mridangam .
Once there is more accuracy , it will be more prevalent. However my understanding is that the mridangam is made only after the animal is deceased naturally . I may be wrong
@@chudamaniravi Yes, synthetic Mrudhangham. Ofcourse, it requires more efforts to get the roaring dhwani of traditional Mrudhangham. But all it requires is tweaking with materials to get the right sound. Most of the western drums use synthetic material. That just goes to show involvement and perfection. 🙏 Out of necessity I have to say this. Animals are usually chosen for skin. Absolutely cruel and unfair.
Oh, the mischief of "Thalaiyai aattum puriyaadha koottam", calling great music as "nonsense" because they thought so! MAESTRO ILAYARAJA's music ALSO does what you claim of Haridas's success! His music is adored by that illiterate person sitting in the corner in a remote village as much as it is adored by the likes of RaGa, Sikkil Gurucharan etc. Thyagarajar would be mighty PROUD if he had been alive (given he lead a humble life)! It takes (ONLY) an ILAYARAJA to change Mari mari ninne and present it convincingly in Saramathi! Why be a self-proclaimed "purist" for the sake of it?! Y'all should instead try to compose "something" instead of being a proud keyboard warrior and pelting stones at the SKY called ILAYARAJA!

My question is, what would one like to listen? The Learned Odhuvar rendering or the Oratoria style (thanks to Jagath Casper) style of Thiruvasagam?

As if you would if he had composed it in Carnatic! Thiruvaasagam in Symphony is IR's GENIUS, and his thorough understanding of MUSIC as ONE; he bridged that GAP between Carnatic, Tamil hymn / classic literature, and Western EASILY. It is you amateurs (and other music directors) who limit music to 'genres'. NO CURE for your prejudice!
