That was crazily funny. I think lot of us experienced a new sense of freedom. "That thing I do, is not only legit, but it even has a name. That's not all, there is even stuff I never thought of" Loved it.
Why do I follow Steph rather than other whistle peoples? Because she's sooooo creative and fun!!!! From technqics to dressing to suit the theme of the song, brings so much life and enjoyment! Keep up the good work!
Wow, that was fun to watch 😊
So You can Turn Your Tin Whistle into a Slide Whistle, without having to Buy a Slide Whistle. I Always Loved that Sound Effect.
You're a more considerate neighbor than I am. Guess who will be trying all of these late at night 😅
yo yo yo let's do a night collab B) x'D
Wow, great ideas! Thank you so much)))
👏 Hi Steph - Your perspicacity for the tin whistle owes its verisimilitude to your dedication, perseverance and love for the instrument. 👍 😊
Nicely done with the glissando. It sounded like you were playing a slide whistle.
One helpful tip I would add: you can play one note below the bell note (lowest note) by half-covering the bell. For example, on a high D whistle, cover all the playing holes for a low D, then extend your right pinkie finger to touch the side of the end hole to lower the pitch to a low C#. You can even cover a bit more (about 2/3) for a low C. This is helpful for adding a lower grace note to the bottom note or for playing a descending scale that drops below and finishes on the bell note (e.g., ..., G F# E, F# E D, E D C#, D). This works best on shorter (higher) whistles or if you have large hands.
Thank you, this one is always useful! ❤️ For anytime wanting to try it, there's visual instruction here:

Hi mam. Thank you very much for this lesson. I need this to add spice up my fipple playing. Tah

When the coffee kicks in.
amazing..
Thanks, that has been a good finish for another long week.
You're a marvel! High marks for creativity and fun. Thanks. I'll use some of these at some point I'm sure.
Interesting vid, CP. Love the "Mission Impossible". All these techniques add dimension, texture and flavor to whistle. This is one very important vid. Thank you.
Oh, I love this video! It's very cool to see someone being extraordinarily creative with a traditional instrument.
Time for me to go play with my whistles now ...........
Wow I thought I knew about whistling you just taught me a couple new things. Thanks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 keep up the great work.
Love it!! After this, there really has to be an improv session, don't you think!!? :)
I've been doing sputato a lot messing around without knowing it had a name. Thanks for the video
Thank you for all your videos! I bought a Classic Clarke whistle a couple of weeks back and have learned so much from you already. I just ordered a McNeela as an upgrade :)
I Thought Berbils were the R2-D2s of Thundercats, LOL.
Get Stephanie showing us how to be all Tori Amos with our whistles. LOVE IT!!
Really interesting and informative.🙏
Another Amazing Video From Tin Whistle Masterrrrrrrrrr
Uufff...a long way to be an expert like you. Congratulations, you are awesome. Greeting from Chile!
First!
At long last, my lifelong dream of being the first to comment on a video has been fulfilled. I can die now.
Hi, Have you considered playing a traditional Welsh whistle, the Pibgorn?
My sis is just of 9 and she is playing flute very well
You would be good at foley for movies!
I would LOVE to have been a foley artist. I didn't know it existed until I was trained in something else 🤣🤣 so friggin' cool though. A really amazing job! ❤️
Aho Stephanie, I usually do the random fingers thing with my Native American style Flute after I've made an unrecoverable mistake. In private practice of a particular song I use it as a type of mental signal to myself to clean the slate and start over.
As you say, most all of these techniques are common to the N.A.F. and the whistle and maybe a couple more wind instruments.
Thanks a lot for this really fun video,
Toksa Akhe Mithakhola
😂😂Brilliant
I have used most (if not: all) of these on my recorders! I love alternative techniques, learnt them from Sarah Jefferey. Unfortunately I don't have any tin whistles as of yet, but I hope this will change!
One little trick I stumbled across: If your fingers are long enough, stretch your pinkie finger down and partially cover the end of the flute as you cover all the note holes. It gives an even lower note! If you don't have long enough fingers, you might have to get creative if you wanna try it.
Yes, that's actually coming up on one of my CZcams shorts very soon! :) Definitely works better on the smaller whistles, but you can also use your leg to partially obstruct the bottom of the whistle too if you're sitting down :) x
Great fun! The Sputato immediately reminded me of Ian Anderson's flute playing from the wonderful Jethro Tull. :)
I hope you one day do tabs for Mission Impossible though. *pleads*
It's coming :) Just need to finish off the tabs for the whole tune! x
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Woot! (happydance!) I love the tune (and the original show) but never thought it was whistle playable til I saw you do it. You're amazing, thanks so much and really looking forward to trying to learn it. :D
Hey @CutiePie, an embarrassing issue but very common for beginners - how to prevent saliva dripping through the whistle pipe? :S
Honestly, you can't! It happens to pretty much every woodwind player. Don't worry about it at all! Just be careful what you eat and drink before hand, this can contribute to producing excess saliva (a bit of Google searching will help you figure out what to avoid) and also try to play with your lips a little tighter and the whistle slightly further out of your mouth 😊
If your whistle clogs up often, try these tips too: czcams.com/video/aJTmp8ziA-8/video.html
Hi. I am just getting started with Tin Whistle. I followed along the Paul Simon piece (sound of silence) and GOT. Plan to do the swallowtail next.
My favorite Celtic piece is “the reel of Tulloch”. Would love to see a tutorial. Thanks for your work. Much appreciated.
Also I saw a short on Warble. Are you able to half notes, by partially covering the sensors?
Yes, you can half hole and pitch bend on the warbl :)
Seems like you got really inspired by your Mission Impossible short video ;)
I had lots of requests for 'advanced techniques' after mission impossible but since I don't know any, I went for this :D haha! I assumed that's what people meant in relation to that video. Was great fun! lol.
😭 I will never get the flutter tongue , it's so difficult !
With that t-shirt, will you be offended if I whistle as you pass by?
