- Nine track compilation video for the Tin Machine album by Tin Machine. Directed by Julien Temple.
2019 sees the 30th anniversary of the debut album by Tin Machine, a band fronted by David Bowie, featuring Reeves Gabrels on guitar, Tony Sales on bass & Hunt Sales on drums.
To promote the album the band, along with the director Julien Temple, filmed nine riotous performances of songs from the record at the downtown New York City rock club The Ritz, which have remained unreleased commercially until now.

First Tin Machine album was absolutely brilliant and one of Bowie's most surprising and radical transformations ever.

@@triphophoney2981 that's the point, they were ahead of their time. Plus, they didn't get dressed like the glam rock of the day. Tin Machine had hints of the Pixies, the Beatles, the Jam and Jimi Hendrix all rolled in one. With Bowie all over it. 👍🏾
this was bowie not giving a fuck about what anyone thought. having gone through a period where he was commercially successful but then had to compromise to play to an audience who probably didn't know the velvet underground were and make one awful and uninspired album and then another album where the songs got lost into the production and having to do a pepsi commercial to fund the u.s. leg of a big tour. he was like "fuck this! i'm just going to make rock n roll that is as loud and if they don't like it. fuck you"

He was a supernatural musician and visionary artist no matter what he did it always sounded new and fresh. He was one of the Kind and nobody will ever come close to his art to make and represent music.

Quality! I saw them at Brixton academy in 92 & it was my 1st ever concert! The bass & drum was going through my body & felt sick halfway through, was taken down a corridor near side of stage & when I felt better I came out of this room & Bowie & band was in touching distance as they came off stage briefly, he looked right at me, I was literally frozen in awe!
My first gig too! Upstairs on the brixton academy balcony looking down. Do you remember that he got hit in the face by a cigarette lighter.
I was at the back of the stalls at Brixton Academy. Can't remember much about it but enjoyed it.

The two Tin Machine albums are so overlooked and underrated. I prefer them to his solo stuff between Scary Monsters and Outside. I often see these two album near the bottom when people rank his albums but confused as to why. Both are excellent and like always, Bowie was a chameleon, always changing, always doing something different.

Saw Tin Machine live twice. Incredible both times. Also the loudest gigs I've ever been to and I've seen Iggy Pop live several times lol.

Yep completely! I saw them twice in 89 and 3 times in 91.. blew me away! Seen db countless times but TM was just something else and completely necessary to see live to understand the idea and reason behind the project.

How lovely to hear the truth ; love crack city song and one shot song and amazing song. The 🎸 guitars are wailing throughout under the God ,as they should be. I saw Tin machine once and they put on a professional performance for their audience. I really liked their sound.xoxo

Such an underrated album. I remember this video so well from Much Music in Canada when "Tin Machine" first came out. Everyone was wondering what the hell Bowie was up to, and it was amazing. And totally panned, for some reason. So cool to see this all these years later...

'I Can't Read' is such a great song
Anything with Bowie's name on it is going to be awesome. I remember being blown away by this when it came out.
Fun fact: Bowie only ever released 2 studio albums with Tin Machine, but they did do a live album, _Oy Vey, Baby,_ titled in reference to U2's latest album at the time, _Achtung Baby._ Tin Machine never played any solo Bowie songs on their tour, only songs from their studio albums and various covers. The video album version of _Oy Vey, Baby_ contained a cover of Neil Young's "I've Been Waiting for You", which Bowie later covered on his 2002 solo album _heathen,_ and they also occasionally performed Cream's "I Feel Free", which Bowie later covered on his first post-Tin Machine solo album in 1993, _Black Tie White Noise._
The big difference between Achtung Baby and Oy Vey is that Achtung was polished and complete whereas Oy Vey
lacked direction. There is great drumming and some good songs but otherwise forgettable.

Do you mean you saw one of the videos from tin machines first album or you saw the entire 9 song videos from songs from the first album.
The intro stated their were 9 songs on this video,then lists only 8 songs by alphabet and I dont see under the god.

Saw them in Houston in a half empty night club because of a HUGE storm. 20 ft from the stage without being crushed! The guys came out thanked everyone for braving the storm and proceeded to tear the place up!

The songs are good; lyrics always cryptic & quintessential Bo... anyone else doing this (& that just couldn't be) would be of great interest to our world... we took Bowie for granted by 1989, that he was always David Bowie... great stuff, handsome too!

I think it was a group "for live shows", on stage it is where they transmitted the authentic strength and quality of the band. With them Bowie again brought out his rock vein and they have really good songs!

Tin machine is rock n roll not grunge. Grunge was 1991-1995, tin machine was 1989-1991

A local pub has started doing a Bowie night around his birthday. Despite my sometimes drunk protestations, they refuse to play any Tin Machine. I see much more of David in Tin machine that much of the mainstream stuff. Sadly now not going to get the chance to see Tony next month :(

What a performance! I remember as if it had happened yesterday: when he seemed finished, as an artist, after the flop of "Never Let Me Down" he amazed fans and professionals with this genius: Making a group between heavy metal and rock ... grunge does not was born again! The criticism, then, was not very tender towards Bowie ... but we didn't give a damn about the negative criticisms ... one thing was certain, that in 1989 David struck again!
Awesome that this is posted. I remember taping it onto VHS videotape, and used to watch it. But all that VHS tape stuff (tapes and players) are long gone. But this lives on!

Seen tin machine at town and country club, full to the rafters with energy, took some great pick's amongst the stage diving,left this venue as if i just had a shower with my clothes on jeans and jean jacket, soaked to the skin.
