- I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO REACH THE SHORES OF BULUAN LAKE.
And in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat, there's a fish landing facility built in a traditional style just for this!
Friendly locals sell tilapia and another fish they called "Koreana"!
My journey actually begins in Balut Island, and takes me all the way across Region 12. From Balangonan Port, I visit an Indonesian community in Glan, before heading to Gensan then the Lake itself!
From the lake, it's back to the mountains, along the Columbio-Matanao road that was only opened a couple of years ago.
A new adventure awaits...

To be honest, the presence of tilapia (and carp) in Buluan and other lakes in Mindanao (including Lanao) were ecological disasters. They severely impacted the local fish species when they were introduced in the mid-20th century, leading to pretty much 90% of them disappearing. There used to be numerous large native fish in these lakes, related to carps. Now most of them are critically endangered or extinct.
I blame the imperialistic colonizers who want to make CZcams travel videos. lol.
@@hambone5547 What are you talking about? Tilapia were introduced in the 1950s and 1970s by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, i.e. the Philippine Government, back when officials didn't know anything about how dangerous introduced species are.
