The #Fiat500X was supposed to be the SUV savior for the #Fiat brand in America. Unfortunately, the #500X was never really the sales champ that Fiat had hoped for and is even outsold by the cheeky #Fiat500 hatchback family. For 2020, Fiat is making some small changes, a new 1.5L turbo engine, revised infotainment system, and a tweaked look on the inside and outside.

Wow so many haters. I wonder if any of have even sat in, let alone, driven in one. Let me start by saying it out performs any American car in it’s class, and probably most Europen counterparts as well. It’s a solid feeling car with great performance and is very comfortable for it’s size on long trips.

It's a solid, well-built car with plenty of character. "Haters gonna hate." Again, have you actually owned one, or are you just piping off? Moreover, if you hate them, why did you watch the review? I just bought a 2023. Its last year in U.S.
1200 miles in and so far so good.
I got it $4000 below invoice AND 0% financing + servicing thru my local dealer til 30k.
It's fun to drive. Of course, Fiat folks love its style. The main complaints I hear about in reviews (7in touch screen, tight back seat and boot if not folded down) don't matter to me since it's 99% just me and a chihuahua. Had three people and a dog on a road trip this week and had enough room for us with three carry ons plus book bags plus tons of dog stuff without having to fold any seats.
Love the height (beyond ground clearance, seats sit high and I fit just fine at 6ft), four doors, and AWD are great for me for a car its size. Seats are firm, but that works well for my back - plenty of standard safety features as well. I also love the LED lights, front and back.
I'm not a huge Stellantis person, but the UConnect of theirs is pretty great, though I mostly keep it in Android Auto.
I get the rare downshift comment, but for a subcompact crossover, it takes off when I need it and has plenty of power on highway and city driving. And I like the Italian purr it has.
Combined driving, I've been getting about 29mpg in mixed driving. On highway only, I actually got about 34mpg on my first trip. That trip was also during a huge flooding rainstorm; I selected the rain/snow mode, and it did great in terrible weather.
I know the resale value will be poor, but between the insurance savings (mine was $400 lower than my much cheaper Versa), the 0% interest (worth thousands in the end), and a $4000 markdown, more than a wash on that front.
So far, I love it. And even if lasts me 50-100k before I pick something new, very happy a month in.

Kind of disappoints me that Fiat never took off, again, in NA. I think the 500x is actually one of the best looking in the segment, but considering how so many mainstream buyers have it hardwired into their heads that you should only buy Honda/Toyota, it's not surprising to see. It took KIA/Hyundai decades to reach a respectable level of market share while having to offer very reliable cars cheaper than the Japanese. With how Fiat has been doing, it just won't work out for them. The European premium and charm is lost when the reliability takes such a huge hit. Shame.

My daughter has a 2017 Fiat 500X and that car has get up and go! You need to know how to drive it and maintain it well. Don't maintain it and it will be crap with many repairs which is why many Americans think this car is crap, take care of it well and it will take care of you.😉😉

Mr. Redline I am upset that you are bashing this fiat , its a great car I am looking to get into one. I think its much better then anything in its class and your complains are not because of anything but because you just dont like that its small. So you dont know its been standard since 2017 on the apple car play, ever since they moved to the 7 inch uconnect. As far a features its the same as the bigger unconnects.

Now I've never driven it, but most likely it's not bad, but there's so many others that are better if that makes sense. The Ford Pinto was a bad car. The Yugo was a bad car. Tata Nano. Fiat Uno. Chevy Aveo. Etc etc etc. This is most certainly not on those levels.

One of the most erroneous reviews I have ever heard also misinformed. I always listen to you and your reviews of some of the best otherwise. The fiat 500x I have is fully loaded which I bought new for 28,000 with a free lifetime warranty on the engine and drivetrain. I made one upgrade which was software that completely changed the transmission to be very smooth and quick reacting for $ 500. The car now has 67,000 miles without one issue since I bought it. Incredible dependability compared to any car especially my 80s fiat super brava 131. Do not go by past dependability for current technology cars. My 500x for daily driving is my go to over my Porsche Boxster and new Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. Fits into any parking space fits skis, weeks worth of groceries and so on. Also love the looks and is so fun to drive.
