As a DA/SA guy, I have the HK USPc 9mm, Sig P 226 9mm, and the Baretta PX4 full size 9mm. I am going to add the P07 which, I believe, will fill out the set of currently available pistols in this class. Thanks for the good review.
Thanks for the comment, i essentially did the same thing, it’s a good solid all around pistol, probably won’t push my HK or SIG 229 to the side but very enjoyable to shoot.
My first pistol of my "modern era" was a P10F, purchased in late fall of 2020. At that point, I was unsophisticated on handgun operation, so hearing the expression "In double-action mode" sounded complicated. Complicated did not sound like something I wanted to deal with in a home defense piece, but I also knew I was at the low beginning point of a learning curve. Over the weeks and months of learning about how my P10F (and P10S, and SigSauer P365XL, and a couple of "N+1" guns) worked, and working through my own neophyte reluctance to carry with one in the pipe, I learned about double-action/single-action triggers like the P07 Omega system. My P07 was the first pistol I was mentally comfortable carrying with a round in the chamber. One of those aforementioned "N+1" guns had a manual safety, and it was a hassle teaching myself to disengage it during the draw. I had trouble trusting myself with the trigger safety system in my CZ P10-series pistols. That heavy DA trigger pull, though, helped me a whole heck of a lot. My P07 came with the plastic dry-fire round and the green inserts. It didn't take me long to figure out their purpose--there was something in a brochure or the owner's manual that suggested dry firing was discouraged without a snap cap or similar device. Not long after I got my P07, I found a P09 (the longer-barrel, larger magazine version of the P07) on that famous auction site. I'm quite pleased with the deal I got on that one, and it's become my home defense piece. Weird reason to consider a different pistol: I received a soft holster that didn't accept the trigger guard on my P07, and would barely accept my P10C. I happened to see a picture of the CZ P75 Compact, and the trigger guard shape from the CZ 75-series pistols caught my eye. I tried a few pistols, and found that the 75D PCR works just a little bit better for me than my P07 or P09 as an EDC piece, but my MantisX works on the P07 (Pic rail...duh!), so the P07 remains my dry-fire practice piece, the P09 with a red dot sight and a Pic-rail mounted light is my home defense piece... As much as I like the SigSauer P365XL, even with a red dot sight on it, I find it too narrow for my outsized hands. I had one of the M&P M2.0 subcompacts, and just never got happy with it. I have a Shield 9, and only keep it because it is smaller and thus easier to conceal in some situations. But that P07 sure does hit where I point it, and it goes "BANG!" every time I pull the trigger. Because it was my first DA/SA piece, I see no reason to take it out of inventory! And, yes, the magazines from my P10F and P10C work fine in my P07. My P09 is apparently an earlier version, so they don't work in the more recent versions, but the newer ones I have retrofit in my P09. The ones from my P10S are too short, but that's to be expected.
Thanks for a great comment, there is a learning curve for everyone when we all get into firearms and we’re all still learning, or should be. Certainly sounds like the CZ has found a home and place for you.
On of my absolute favorite pistols out there. The P-07 is amazing, reliable, and pure utilitarian. I’ve carried this for a while and pretty much carry with the 17-round mag. New subscriber now since you reviewed this!
@@thedailydefender1408 you will not be disappointed. I am however I'm getting the pistol grip area stippled not a fan of the grip we're your fingers curl around
Second favorite of mine. Prefer my P01, but P07 is always bedside. Added MCARBO trigger kits to both and really enhanced both handguns. However I do wish CZ would offer optic ready slides for P01 and P07. Very nice review!
Thanks, i like the CZ P07 a lot, not sure it has the combat pistol pedigree that say Sig or HK , or even Glock commands now, but a very solid firearm indeed.
Just sold my P01 Omega... roll pin deformed after 2,000 rounds and the solid pin I replaced it with, caused the firing pin to break. Went back to the OEM hollow roll pin and it deformed at 3,000 rounds. I’ll stick with the HK line and all CZ are now gone from my ‘collection’.
The black parts in the first baggie towards the end of this video are for switching out the decocker for a manual safety. That is the beauty of the omega trigger system. The second baggie with the black piece and little green pieces, that is a snap cap to use when you were dry firing the firearm. You should not try to fight DP07 without snap caps because it can break the firing pin retaining pin.
Wow thanks for the comment and info! The first did look like the smith out to the manual safety, had no idea what the green pieces were for. Thanks again.
Great gun. Do yourself a huge favor and change out the firing pin retaining pin. Factory pin is garbage rolled steel. Cajun Gun Works has a hardened steel pin that is around $5-ish. Takes about 5 minutes to change out.
@@thedailydefender1408 Should be interesting to see the learning curve as I carried and trained twice monthly for almost 30 yrs with Glock 9mm and .40 S&W.
@@cnph7067 I’m sure you’ll pick it up quick. I have a 2018 production p07 and it definitely deforms that roll pin. I replaced the pin at 10.000 rounds so its not really an issue if you keep up on maintenance.
@@professor10193 interesting, so do you feel this is a design flaw or a component flaw with the pin itself? Are replacing with OEM part or upgraded aftermarket?
@@thedailydefender1408Its a geometry issue with how the firing pin interacts with the roll pin. I just replaced it with another oem roll pin and I'm good for another 10k rounds.
