Listen To The Land Song

- I'm a big fan of Epcot and have been going since it opened in 1982. It is my favorite Disney Park. I am sad by some of the changes they have made to the rides and how they did away with some wonderful songs.
The Land was and is still my favorite Epcot attraction. The boat ride through the Green House was called Listen To The Land and they played this wonderful song. Now it's sadly been changed to Living with the Land and no more song. Luckily this is the one exhibit that has suffered the least change of all the ones at Epcot. The boat ride and greenhouse are still maginifcent with all the giant vegetables they grow. And the lab and space age experiments and hydroponics are amazing!! If they'd just bring back the song it would be great but unlike Universe of Energy I still do get that sense of wonder after the ride is over.
If you have photos from Epcot from the 80's and 90's please share them on my Flickr group called Classic Epcot.

EDIT:
I have moved accounts. I am opening comments to discussion since so many enjoy these songs. If there are any problems just contact me at

I no longer receive emails for this account. Thank you for all the nice comments.
First, many thanks to @destroyahdes for posting this! Makes me a little teary eyed listening to it after so many years. Thanks to all who remember my father's song and talk about it so fondly. Makes me very proud that his work is still loved by so many.
What a wonderful legacy! :)
It’s one of my favorite songs ever. He’s touched my heart, for sure. It is loved.
It’s such a sweet song. It’s a real shame it’s no longer played as it really is a timeless song for both young and old. Your dad had a knack for that!
Justin, Oh wow, Your father wrote this? That is wonderful. I am DestroyahDes. I have moved channels. This is my new one. I still love this song. It made such an impact on me as a kid and I still love it very much.
Robert Moline was your father? Such a nice songs he had.
Every time I would drive through DeLand on I-4 I would sing, "Listen to DeLaaaaaaaaandddd..." This song takes me back...
This could be Florida Man: The Song
I was a bus in Disney World one day. This was playing over the speakers. I instantly started singing it. A woman across from me, obviously another longtime Disney Parks fan, sang it with me. We sang the song in its entirety and damn the looks we got from the passengers.
Was it recently? If so that’s amazing.
Those who disliked are the plants who had to hear this song 24-7
The dislikes are also from the universal and Disneyland fanboys
LOLOLOLOL
Loved 1980s and early 90s EPCOT. I last visited in 1996, and even then I could tell things were definitely changing. Oh yeah, and the song reminds me of those catfish in the tubes.
They could easily play this song on a loop at the end of the Living with the Land boat ride when you're waiting to disembark.
Nooo way the song currently in is much better, but this is so great as well.
The rights to the music might have expired and/ or the musicians decided not to renew. This song will forever be what I think of when I go to the Land Pavilion though 😊
Just make believe, you're a tiny little seed,
a tiny little seed that's reaching up to meet your need.
With the right amount of faith, and the right amount of earth,
you'll grow to see the sunshine on your day of birth.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
When springtime comes, how can you tell?
The air is always filled with orange blossom smell.
Come summertime, the warmest sun shines,
and world is full of flowers and good melon rinds.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
When autumn falls, it's a harvest show,
with north winds blowing all the seeds that it must sow.
Come winter time, the rain must fall,
'till once again the new year and the springtime call.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
The seasons come, and the seasons go,
nature knows everything that it must know.
The earth and man, can be good friends,
let's listen so our harvest time will never end.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
Let's listen to the land we all love,
nature's plan will shine above,
listen to the land, listen to the land.
This song, along with the rest of 80s Epcot, is my childhood.
I love the folksy nostalgia of this! Epcot was not always my favorite park as a kid, but I loved this ride.
My family and I just sing the song as the ride starts to come to an end...makes it just that much more fun!
I used to teach this song to my music class at my son's first school and played it on the piano. It's nice to hear it again. It brings back good memories.TY :)
Brings back a lot of wonderful memories
Every so often this song pops into my head, but I could never remember all the lyrics. Thanks for sharing!
I almost find it a shame that the wait for living with the land is always so short. It's got to be one of my favorite rides at Disney.
Yeah, it's nice that you can get on fast... But the ride is so, so good. It's really sad to see people thinking it's boring. Funny how people older than me somehow are dumber, people need to appreciate the nice, calming things in life, rather than going fast on a roller coaster.
there is no reason they can't play this on the ride this song is better than the stuff they put in their movies however they played it during the 40th anniversary celebration it was heartwarming to hear this masterpiece in the pavilion again
THEY DID?
THEY PLAYED IT IN THERE?
THEY DID WHAT?
THEY HUH?
@@sealy1 yes, it was during the 40th anniversary of EPCOT I heard it when I was exiting soar'n and it felt right hearing it in the pavilion after all these years
@@jamesbump3906 that’s awesome
Offhand Disney sent me here.
Me too
I love this song. i also love Making Memories. Sadly, im only 14 so I never got experience them in the parks.
Poor thing... those were some GOOD, good times. This and "Making Memories" are in my Top 10 retired Disney songs. When we were little, my brothers and I would run around the living room making our own "animatronics" to the uptempo part of Making Memories. Talk about "making memories" holy jeez.
@@SnakeOilGypsy Really wish I was able to experience the old EPCOT... I strongly yearn to see it return some day. If I somehow get in charge, I will MAKE everyone restore it.
Happy you got to see it.
Music makes memories - Bob Moline and the music at EPCOT Center (as it was) have made many!
I heard this song on one day at EPCOT center 37 years ago and I still remember "♫ Listen to the laaaaaand! ♫ Listen to the land! ♫" We *_must_* have gone on that ride more than once. I don't see how else it could have lodged itself in my memory so firmly. I even got it in the right key and I *_never_* do that with songs!
Epcot Forever brought me here. What an earworm.
I saw and heard this when epcot 1st opened and it was only$ 15.00 to get in....that was a long time back...made me smile
My mom still has a ticket that shows $15 on it, it was amazing to see, even if I had just woken up, and was very tired.
I was all of 10 years old when I went back in 87.
I remember we had a tour guide narrating, and the guy had a British, or Aussie accent.... He'd say.. "listen... to the lahhnd..." (all drawn out, and sounding like Robin Leach, lol) then the music would play... For a mellow ride, I enjoyed it.
I also remember crashing out in the hall of presidents, and waking up just as it ended... Hahahaha...
I've never heard this song before as I've never been to WDW. I came here from a different video that referenced it from a ride that removed it, which is really sad because this is actually a very pretty song!
They still play an instrumental version in The Land Pavilion and it was included in EPCOT Forever.
A friend introduced me to the Magic Kingdom in January 1981. Our first visit with 3 little ones followed in December 1981. I brought my 3 boys and a nephew back just after Epcot opened in Christmas 1982. The Land, the American Adventure,Universe of Energy and other Epcot theme 🎶 🎵 still has so much impact on our memories.😢😂❤ we all miss it. My 5 youngsters were Disney World visitors annually for 5 consecutive years. They were the "boys and girls"it was loved by.😢
Although I love the current version of the ride (Living with the Land), I think it would be better with this song playing in the background of the narration. At least to where you can hear both.
This song was played on the park radio all over the park after the special Illuminations 35th show on Sunday. Amazing to hear some of the best music from the park's past over the background.
I wish I could have been there that day.
I was there a couple months back and for the first time noticed the fountain in the middle was gone...something I remembered from many trips past. I agree, The Land is one of the few pretty much untouched attractions...which is good!
I used to always hate this ride, but I shall never forget the song. It will be part of me forever.
YES!!!! Listen to the Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Listen to the land hahaha. So Classic. Makes me want to go to Disney right now.
"Listening to the land" is certainly what we all should do... We are fortunate around these parts to get the full network of seasons. It's a great song! And a great park! (We visited only once, several years ago, but we have fond memories of it.)
It's sadly changed a lot.
I’d unironically put this in a playlist
Omgggg I've had dreams of the first picture of the land with the hot air balloons! I remember it now!
I always loved the fountain at The Land. When I was there in November 2007, I was sorry to see it was gone.
Oh man that takes me back!
i feel you man.
Those that clicked thumbs down should have to be laughed at and not given sweet treats, unless they are diabetic.
What a great, happy song. :)
Interesting tour! When I saw the opening sign I thought "Oh yes - the Land of Nestle - I could seriously chow-down there!" Hahaha :-)
Actually Kraft was the original sponsor of The Land Pavilion from 1982-1992.
I am going back this year in June. My grandson and daughter too. My husband and me can't wait😁😁😁
best theme for a ride ever!
I remember the ride's line was packed and now it is easy to get into.
fond memories.... thanks
Oh man, this song is exactly what I needed today!
It's a nice song, relaxing. I like it!
Thanks again, my friend, for bringing us the "old" Disney. We REALLY miss it. It's a damn shame what these clowns in charge have done to it.
I really wish I could've seen epcot during the 80s.
I am so sad that I can NEVER possibly experience it. At least, in a way that I know is real, unlike VR.
I miss Disney World, hope I can go back again
Disney must learn if it isn’t broke, don’t fix.
I'd love to be able to play this song in my car as I drive north along U.S. Route 27 in Florida.
YES! This one and "Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit"
Thanks for posting this! I wish that this was still the song that they played. I miss the old Living With The Land Ride :(
This song is my childhood.
Beautiful song 💜🌸💜
Listen to the land
Why did they remove this song from the land?!! I just discovered the land had a song & it’s a Banger.! I love it! I need to blast this on my next ride on the ride. 😂❤
I was not born during listen to the land but I like to hear the music of it on youtube
I went to Epcot back in September and it was closed. I hope bring this song back.
Sorry, I don't think it's ever coming back.
Which makes me really sad.
Thanks for uploading this! Love this song...."Natures plan will shine above...listen to the land!!!!"
Disney had no business getting rid of this beloved sound track
love it makes me smile
Thanks SOO much for posting! Disney has a knack for getting rid of the great stuff......
that's so good
This slaps kinda hard doe
loooove this song :D
I miss it.
I was just at Epcot and I am pretty sure the ride is called Living with the Land.
Yes, it was originally Listen to the Land, and had this song.
Neat ❤️!
This was my second favorite song to listen to at epcot and the boat ride called listen to the land was my favorite ride at the land pavilion.
CHORUS
ayes they did play it but people would not get off and leave fast enough...they were jamming to the song..lol
NOVA: Down on the Farm (1984)
It was I who made the likes from 911 yo 912
Who else is here looking for the Kenny Rogers version???
How come Epcot has to fix what's not broken?
Yeah... I presume it's sponsors, but I hate it so much. And I wasn't even ALIVE to experience it! That's probably an indicator that it's not just nostalgia, but it was genuinely better.
@nismoblue dispite that i believe Epcot is still the best out of the 4...still soooo awesome!
I do too, wish I got to experience the 80s version.
One more point. I hear they are making some changes to the ride. I believe it is closed right now for some sort of renovation. Do we dare hope they will bring back the Living With The Land Song?
@ Kevin James, they change things so morw
do you have the horizons soundtrack
THE LAND
PRESENTED BY
KRAFT FOODS/NESTLE
@destroyahdes yep thats what I remember
Why does Disney change things so much!? Inl
THIS SONG SOUND LIKE ITS FROM THE 2012 LORVAX MOVIE
Who wrote this? I know most Disney Park songs from this era were written by the Sherman brothers, but this doesn't sound like their style at all. It's very folksy. I like it.
Amazing song and ride!! It remains me when I was a little child this was one of my favorite rides, this and Horizons!!! Where can I get this song? The last time I went to Disney I tried to find a soundtrack with all the classic Disney ride songs but couldnt find it. I would really appreciate if you could help me by telling me where I can get this song. Thanks
zarak98 I want to buy this song, too! It would be a perfect addition to a road trip playlist
@Disneydanny Well as a matter of fact, his first work for disney was a song that he wrote for a disneyland commercial, on which he sang. You can listen to it here: /watch?v=belpiHCpJOE Enjoy!
@fsyeah, the link must've been taken down. Do you know if that commercial is still up anywhere? I was too young to remember it as a child, and would love to be able to not only see it, but record it to show my kids someday what their grandfather did.
The only thing happening to the ride is that it is getting new boats. So don't worry. :)
I don't mind the renovations they did to the pavilion itself, at least in relation to other ridiculous changes they've made. But I haven't been there in a while...please tell me they didn't change the boat ride. Promise me!
Well, it's mostly untouched. The "Symphony of the Seed" scenes are replaced with some new ones, and the song is gone, and new plants and that sort. They also replaced the live guides with an audio recording. It's not too different, but still not as good.
Oh, and the rain effect in the Rainforest and sand blowing effect in the Desert scenes are now gone, presumably because... Lack of upkeep, sadly.
they have the balloons- they dont go up and down anymore
yep, 14 years later and they still don't.
Anyone know the name of the person who sings this song? I know that John Joyce did many of the original EPCOT songs, like "Energy, you Make The World Go Round" and "Universe of Energy", but I can't figure out who does this one.
Robert Moline
Snake Oil Gypsy is correct, it's my late father, Bob Moline
@@juicefx HE was your DAD? BOB MOLINE?!
Lucky.
@destroyahdes you know i have some faith in some of the future Disney imaginears of my generation...and thats saying alot because i usually have faith in no one! lol But hopefully they want to keep the past alive without being 'out of date' :)
oh wow they got rid of it. that sucks i loved that song i used to sing with it.
Maybe Someone didn't like the song because it mentions a little faith in the seed.
Why’d they remove the song?
Wasn't this song sung by John Denver at one point?
isn't this song at the end of ride now? >_> or at some point of the ride now?
Nope...
How is this place led by Nestlé?!?
They offered the most money.
It started with Kraft, changed to Nestlé, and now it's with Chiquita.
Another ride they have destroyed. They should put this California adventures.
I think part of the reason is because it doesn't feel right without a person talking to you. There is no one to point at that crop, and that crop, etc. To me, now it's kind of boring.
This didn't seem anywhere near as saccharine and idealistic when I was 8
Any song with a Childers choir is painful to listen through
There is a version of this song without the children in the background
It's a shame that when they did the renovations to the Land, they did NOT bring this song back....typical Disney. All they di was take out the driver/commentator
