At least he's got the balls to actually admit that Eddie's passing 2 months earlier was the main factor behind his Rumble win. As I guarantee you Rey was NOT originally booked to be the Rumble winner that year, nor would he have become World Heavyweight Champion at WM that year, either.

Dude calm down. I highly doubt he needed “balls” to say that as Eddie’s passing created that dynamic for Rey considering how much he was incorporated in the story not to mention Batista’s injury. The crowd loved it. It was a nice feel good moment. Just be quiet

Rey is such an underrated wrestler, I dont ever hear people mention him much amongst the greats, but he deserves to be! Every match ive ever seen him in, he works his ass off and always entertains.
Hes pretty much the only little guy who I actually believed could be the WWE Champion, hes just so good that he doesnt need to be a heavy weight to contend and it looks legit.

To this day, Eddie’s passing is the one that hurts me the most as a fan. I didn’t catch his work in ECW but I watched all of his stuff in WCW and WWF. He was dialed into fans and he felt like a member of the family based on that connection. I remember Eddie was being setup to feud with Batista and it was off to a great start because they kinda planted the seeds that Eddie was still a heel but he was doing all of his classic “lie, cheat, and steal” babyface stuff. Honestly, his heel turn on Rey was some of his best work in WWE and I was really interested to see how his program with Batista would play out. I always thought he was going to eventually become a mega heel after proving his act with Batista was just to get close to him and then win the World Heavyweight Championship. Imagine heel mode Guerrero versus Shawn Michaels from that era. It would’ve been great! I was always a Rey Mysterio fan so I enjoyed his work but I thought WWE did a horrible job with him as world champion. He got a good push but his booking was too weak and even though he was much smaller, they leaned into that stereotype way too much. They should’ve used creative ways to make it look like he outsmarted his opponents and used his speed.

Three things one it’s sad and unfortunate that Rey Mysterio needed Eddie Guerrero to pass away to be the title picture because if people want to admit it or not, he was never ever gonna be world champion or even get that opportunity. I don’t ever wanna hear people talk about size, Mysterio has never ever had a size advantage for anyone he’s ever been in the ring with third if you’re going to criticize people from other companies about his wrestling style and how he helped popular rise it then you’re literally shitting on Mysterio legacy

This is a massive stretch. Even Before Eddie's passing Rey was already one of the most popular guys on the roster. People like Sin Cara or Kalisto wished to Have that popularity, you should watch some shows from 2002 to 2005 and you will see it. That being said, we will never know if Rey would Have eventually be' world champ or not , surely it was not planned in 2006 . This doesn't mean that down the line he couldn't Have had a run, even a short one , you know as a career prize . It was done Before, it was done after. Why not with Rey? I Believe he would Have had a run eventually

What are you talking about? For someone his size, Rey had a STELLAR three years in WWE before Eddie passed. You're gonna make that claim just because they're all masked luchadors? So that makes them all the same? Not even close. Sin Cara had drug and attitude problems which is why he didn't last. Kalisto himself at least had a bit of a midcard push. But Rey was a megastar the minute he stepped into WWE because of his past accomplishments, his work ethic, his ability to connect with the fans, he was marketable, and he had a boatload of supporters behind the scenes. Nothing was ever gonna "banish" him.
