Yeah Mr tool talk Tuesday ! You got that explanation pretty wrong didn't you !! The induction coil doesn't get hot and heat up the nut or bolt !!! That's literally the whole point ! The coil INDUCES electromagnetic energy into the bolt !! 😂😂😂 get it right fella or all your silly shenanigans won't land well will they ! 🎉
Hi you guys...been watching for a few months now...especially the scandi trip as Ive done a few of my own including a full bottom to top Norway trip last summer/fall. Maybe keep in touch as I have been travelling non stop for 25 years and in the past spent months/years travelling across Canada and 45 US states including a trip through Yukon and Alaska...might have some useful tips or suggestions to pass on possibly ifn you're interested! Gonna watch this build and its future trips with interest!

Oh dear, I may have made a huge mistake. I introduced my husband to your channel and he is now obsessed and muttering about converting a fire engine to go with the ambulance 😂
😂😂😂😂 just need a police van then and you’d have the full house 👌👍😂
@@truebluetravellersLDV Convoy with the V8!
Repairing a 20 year old T5 van myself I realised that after all those years even if the 2.5 TDI engine works all-right on a long trip because of the heat and the mechanical stress the seals and some mechanical components give up . I recommend you change some seals on your engine ( water pump , tandem pump for example) , check the turbo for any play it might have (I’ve changed mine as it was leaking) and for the 2.4TDI the alternator rubber pulley and pulley wheel needs changing every 90k (mine gave away as soon as I put a DC- DC charger in ..). Then off course , oil and filters change .. Good luck with your conversion, I’ll be watching with a lot of interest!
Cheers mate, so it had a new/second hand engine go in before we bought it, so had had belts cam belt service etc and a good check over so fingers crossed should be good for a while 👍
Hey Jon, the heat from the induction heater isn't from heating the coil, it's from induction, like an induction hob, if you put that coil over your finger and power it, you'll notice it doesn't heat your finger or the coil. That's why they don't work on copper or aluminium. Also, best not to let it touch the nut/bolt/bar you're heating if you can help it.
Great tools though! 💪
Thanks for the info mate, I should of read the instructions really 🤦♂️😂😂
Can’t believe Jon didn’t appear when you were talking swollen shafts and rivets.

Steyr, Daimler & Puch (the manufacturer) were among the earliest vehicle makers, lorries, cars & motorcycles respectively as I recall.
This looks to be a great build guys. Onwards and upwards. I cant believe the amount of room in her once all the equipment is removed.
Thanks mate, yeah it’s a decent size now hey 😊
I feel a personally involved with this project as I saw it in the original state. Will be following the makeover with keen interest. Thanks for allowing your Aussie visitors to view your other wonderful projects and to share in the initial excitement if this one. Looking forward to your weekly reports on this gorgeous old firetruck.

Everytime i see videos of your build, I am really super impressed with Jess. She is so small sized but she can do so much. Great job Jess. You are my idol!

Wow and wow…what a huge amount of space you now have to play with. Can’t wait.

This really is going to be a belting build. I am really interested how you will design and build the pop up roof. Exciting adventures to come Jess and Jon.❤💙
Thanks mate, that’s the biggest head scratcher for sure 🤷♀️💙
I thought that the simple solution would be to buy a defender pop top tent, then try and retrofit that....(unless in missing something!!)

I am quite new as a subscriber and veiwer

Go back and watch the Aussie one too, hilarious 😊
It’s 10am (Dubai Time) on a Saturday….. 🎉
It’s time for my favourite CZcams couple
Thanks mate 💪💪👍👍
I bought a classic motorbike last year that has all the tax discs (and all the paperwork) since it was new in 1984
No way, that’s so cool, I strangely love things like this now
I do believe I would return those top side containers after putting side doors and dividers on them and use them for storage when traveling.
We would but the pop top roof will be going there so unfortunately can’t 😊
Well that did not disappoint! Triple T, the Generals new section and doing something that your average Van converter hasn't done before. This is a totally blank canvas and it is going to be an amazing build for us to enjoy as the Old Gal evolves from Fire Engine to Mini Overlander. You'll defiantly be able to take her to places that larger Overlanders will not easily get to, as you found with the Landy. Only problem is We all have to wait till next Saturday for our next installment. Bugger! Did you weight the old Gal before the strip as it will be interesting to see what she weights stripped and then once the conversion is complete.
Cheers mate, no I didn’t unfortunately but hoping to get it weighed before we do the interior build 👌👍
@@truebluetravellers I would imagine that you'll have plenty of payload weight to play with.
@@Simon_W74that twin-axle rear bogie should hold 2, maybe 3 tons up!
@@alanhat5252I think they are rated to 6 ton total weight. I don’t know if that is the same for the Fire Engines though with them having to carry water if they are rated higher or not. I know most twin axle Motorhomes are rated to 5ton.
Keep the rollers doors put the window behind the roller door when on the road as protection
Hopefully got an idea so we can keep them 👍
Wow, you have done loads. This will be quite a unique camper build for sure.
Thanks mate 😊
Can’t wait to see how it turns out. You have one of the best, possibly even the best, channels on CZcams. 👍👍👍

😂😂😂😂😂 don’t tell her that
@@truebluetravellers 🎤📢📢📢📢📢📢🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh yes Ive been waiting let the banter begin
😂😂😂👍
One of the most satisfying job: stripping out an old car. Makes you feel lighter, too 😀
I wonder how much it weights now, undressed..
I would surely build a pop-up roof.
I am doing mine with foldable rigid walls, but it's easier for me since I build it on a rectangular half box with sandwich panels, like your Sprinter's.
If you need inspiration, you could search for "hiatus campers", it has an easy lift style, without actuators, just gas-lifts.
Good luck with your build! I'm very keen to see how she turns out.
😂😂 Jess said the same thing 😂, yeah hoping to get it weighed soon before we do the build out,
Ah thanks for the tip I’ll check it out 👍👍
I don’t know how much space y’all need, but to me the side roll up doors need to come out and be replaced by a manual slide out. This would be a perfect way to have a bed in the rear and still not take up much space at all! I think it would be brilliant. As a plus the rear roll up door will give you a great fresh air supply and view over wherever you are.
Good luck on the build!
This is a really cool idea! We are going to do a pop top roof conversion like the alucab we have on the landrover which means we can stand up inside and gives us a full size bed without taking away from any of the space inside. Your right the rollers do take up loads of space so current plan is that we will keep them for the look of the outside to keep it as original looking as possible but they won’t roll up, as much as I’d love to have the do they aren’t water tight so not practical to have functioning really 💙
As for the wooden side protectors one had has a 25 foot sailing boat we call them rubbing strippes made of wood mine where us = one used solid black plastic decking plank one 12 foot plank did the whole boat one cut it down into 3 stripes = never have to touch them again but put sealant behind it to stop water ingress best of look just ideas to help is all
Love this idea, will definitely look into this 👍
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it. Ya'll are so goofy and it's wonderful.
😂😂😂 thanks very much for watching 😊
Great tear down as usual. This is gonna be such a good build. I think you should do the Trans Atlantic highway in it. I definitely think some type of roof extension is needed, you could maybe get 2 fold down singles either side in the roof space that make a double bed, or go for 2 singles offset in the roof space, fibre glass over a steel or ally frame? Just thinking outside the box. I'm sure you already have a plan. So excited about this one already.
Nope No plan 😂😂 so thanks for the input 👌much appreciated 👌👍
Thanks!
Easy now!! BTB!! Thats me!!
😂😂😂😂 oh yeah
Love the travels, love the builds, happy Saturday everyone 😊
Thanks and happy Saturday and enjoy your Sunday 😊
I remeber a few of the stick on tax disc holders that always used to fall off the windscreen due to the stack of old discs in there.A great start to the build 👍
Can’t believe that people will buy them on eBay! What on earth do they do with them??
😂😂😂😂 yep I remember them
😂😂😂 who knows hey 🤷♂️
Cant wait for this one guy's
Thanks mate 😊
The South West of the USA would be a great place to take that. Imagine driving it from San Francisco to Yosemite and then via the General Sherman tree to Keeler California and up the yellow grade road to Cero Gordo. You could cross death valley towards Vegas and then go to Page for the Horseshoe bend and Antelope Canyon, take it to Flagstaff for Wupatki and the painted desert and then across Arizona to Tombstone. And then towards LA past the aircraft grave yards and the Saguaro National park near Tucson then on via places like Lake Havasu, Sedona, twin arrows, two guns, Kingman, Seligman (as featured in Cars), Oatman (for the Burros).
There's so many awesome places in that area to see and the desserts you'd cross would make an awesome 'Cursed Earth's backdrop for the truck. Maybe you could meet up with the likes of Wobderhussy, Pin in the Atlas and Justin Scarred which would boost your visibility on You Tube too...
Such could be an awesome adventure
We would absolutely love to take this to the states but we will be doing the arctic in winter when we go so we want to take the Sainsburys van for that really, apart from that the pins would be brilliant like u say for the rest of it
I'd do that run in September or June
When i first saw the drivetrain on this vehicle, i was imagining you were going to be taking it into offroad mountainous terrain, such as the Alps or even the Himalayas. I've also been pondering how the differential on the "Middle " set of wheels work, as it needs to send power out 3 ways, after much deliberating, I have come to the reasoned and scientific conclusion that it works due to magic, hopes and dreams. I look forward to following along with this build. Great work as always.
😂😂😂😂 I’ll have to see if I can get a diagram of it to show everyone as like you say it is magic and definitely have to find some mountain trails for it 👍👍

Stunning. Love the innuendos lol😂. How the paint on the doors changed colour during your chat at the end😅. That can is a mint canvas to build on.

Ah thanks very much, much appreciated 😊😊
had a large impact in one of these removing the front right wheel going to a job at a fair pace. hardly felt it, a colleague laid it on it's side doing off road training. i have to say, long distance in this will be testing, fuel consumption will require larger fuel tanks to get a good distance if going remote especially if going to use diesel heaters. awesome you took it on, unique project, if jon is tall you may want to look at creating more space for headroom if he's driving it a lot
Cheers mate, yeah we are gonna take some jerries too as the mpg is no doubt gonna be horendous, suprisingly It’s pretty good for head room, same as defender really 👍👍👍

Thanks so much Lisa💙 wow that’s really exciting! Hope it all goes well
Now you have her stripped you might want to consider some engine upgrades, a tune at least, perhaps an after-market turbo and snorkel if it needs one, then an insulated engine cover that will cut the noise down, also when finished spray sound-absorbing rubber on the inner wheel arches, it will cut down the noise a lot and protect from stones. This worked a treat on our AWD Hiace, much quieter in the cab. I am loving this new build, though I thought the defender was amazing. I look forward to seeing her evolve into what will be a fantastic adventure vehicle.
Thanks very much, yeah I priced up a new turbo but to run it it would also need a bigger radiator and an oil cooler so it’s mega money, yep replacing all engine bay seals and gonna sound deaden and insulate the lot and also underseal like u say, should be much better once done 👌👌👍
Epic. Now, that will be fun to drive. Great episode, both. Darn, I want that induction heater now. 😂
