Hi there! We French have been exceptionally excited and proud to have Slimane representing our country. Its been a long time for France. The lost french pride returned in the span of the contest.
I still get goosebumps everytime he backs away from the microphone. Listen, you can like or dislike that song, maybe you are not a ballad guy/lass or whatever, but this is a jury contender and it should be acknowledged as that. France has spent too long under the radar.
Doesnt matter if you are not a ballad guy, if you don't love this voice, i am just mesmerized (saying this because my woman is not a ballad type at all and she loved this and was so surprised), his voice is literally magical. I didnt understand neither did she, what it was about, but the feeling in his voice just paints the whole picture, which is so rare imho, and our favorite/#1 singer is freddie mercury otherwise. And i really hope he grows hugely!

This artist is amazing. His voice, his song, the raw emotion he transmits. The a cappella moment, away from the microphone, I don’t think I was breathing… I usually wait until all songs are out to start listening… but not this one. This one I still can’t get enough of… my winner. And I hope he gets top spot with the jury or nearly top. 💙🤍❤️

Im from France and its 1st time im proud the Artist who are in ESC since few years =) GJ Slimane
I’ve thought that France is my winner for ages, but this performance has just confirmed that for me. It does feel like a lot of people online are done with this song, but I’m just not at all, it’s still as compelling as when I first heard it. I think I see why the song was released so early - for the last few weeks/months, Slimane has been doing a big tour around France and obviously he’s been singing Mon Amour. From videos I’ve seen, he’s been performing quite a few different versions of the song, making changes to the last minute in particular. I think that’s very clever, as he’s taking this opportunity to try things out live and see what works and doesn’t work, and I presume he’ll take the best bits to Malmo.
The 2 reasons why this song was released so early:
1/ The selection committee knew they couldn’t keep secret Slimane’s participation anymore
2/ more importantly, Slimane was about to kick off his huge tour in France and wanted the song to be part of the set list.
I'm also following him and have seen this too. And he's actually making an English version too. I really hope he will sing in French though.

I absolutely love the song and his voice. I also had to stop myself from over-listening to it!
I'm really amused by the fact that the last lines "est-ce que tu m'aimes?" sounds similar enough to Swedish/Norwegian/Danish "älskar du mig?" - which means the same, "do you love me?", though the words are not even in the same order (älskar = love and aimes=love).

Shane, I agree with you that I have also tried to put this song on hold because I felt it was so good from first listen and gives winner vibes. To me, the enchantment has not waned. I just read where Slimane is to release the song in English and can't wait to hear the English version.
This is out of this world, omg what a voice and talent, Slimane is going to do very well, he also still on my top 3 but last year we both had La Zarra in number 1 so 😂😂 I trust this year that Slimane won’t be up there attach to a pole and not be able to perform well, that was a complete disaster

I love Slimane so much! Performance wise he is still my number one. The song is not the best we have so far but I want him to get a top 3 placement in Malmö 🤞🏾
Oh Shane! When you said that you hadn't wanted to listen to Slimane's song since it came out, you gave voice to my thoughts. Even without being aware of it, I had also kept it as a treasure that I know will shine just as brightly when the chest is opened in Malmö.

Ok, maybe it's a mid-ballad song with French clichés as some fans are wont to say, but being sung by such a powerful live vocalist changes everything and I can't wait for him to give the whole malmö arena goosebumps and for that to continue throughout the esc shows. with that, he’ll even grab tele vote voters ❤

The ONLY thing I don't love about that (truly astonishing) a capella section is that it deprives me of the big last chorus and I feel the song needs that. I wish we could have both!!

I'm definitely a ballad boy and France are fulfilling all my desires with this terrific entry. Man, can he belt out a tune and the song is so well constructed...so I love it
BUT I wish it was being released now as I've become too accustom to it (4months in)and so the WOW!! / shine is just starting to fade. I'm sure it will be in my top 3, position undecided, but songs like Belgium ,released this week, do still have that WOW!!! factor. Like you I've tried to avoid listening to Slimane too much so time and staging will be critical.
I don't really get to grips with the crazy/weird/loud entries and sometimes feel the odd dance break is an after thought or a time filler. I'm very old fashioned as far as ESC is concerned....France are send a gimmick free song that is right up my street. It's brilliant.

Hey Shane! about Mon amour in France: yes it's a huge success the song. you listen to it all the time in the radio. But no, people is not massively excited here becasue he's going to eurovision...I mean the few eurofans they are but people in general they dont know anything or dont care about eurovision at all; so most of people here in France love the song but because Slimane is super known here and that's it, they dont know or care if he's going to eurovision actually
You're right, I love the song, it is played all day long, I love to listen to it when I drive a long distance but it is only yesterday that I got to know that it is the 2024 Eurovision song. I am now very excited because this song touches me so much and I wonder if the world will also be touched.

Hey Shane! We Vinko lovers must stick together 😊💖. Class vocally and that song does something to me😉. Pure love, I just wished the song was longer. I watched the finale and parts of previous nights. I also liked Marcela's "Gasoline" for example. Damir must have been the best singer, holy moly, even if the song wasn't enough. I'm very much looking forward to Raiven's "Veronika", this was a brilliant taster. And how the revamp will be that I read about. I have opinions about Baby Lasagna, but I don't dare to enter them.... yet☺️. I'm afraid of maybe being "assaulted" haha. I see why it's so popular and it rocks hard, but I'm not that excited. To put it mildly, I was united with Ukraine and Italy giving Vinko the most points (not the 0 points to BL though?).
Regarding Slimane, he has moved up in my ranking after seeing several live performances with him. I liked "Mon amour" from the beginning, but something about the chorus part is missing for me. Despite this, his phenomenal vocal effort is so touching together with the intro and verses that it wins me over. If I am 100 percent convinced, the final performance will decide. (I saw that Rachel from ThePeaceAround also wanted some more of the song itself, just as an example).
I hope I have time to get my reflections on Pesma, it was undeniably a mixed compote of most things. 😊💖

Dora last night wasn't the greatest to be honest. A lot of very off vocals throughout the evening. I'd argue that Vinko was the one of very few that actually gave a strong vocal performance, so very happy he made it through. Let 3 I would argue also gave a pretty good performance, and with all the vocal effects taken away I actually got into the song for the first time, plus of course they always put on a show. Also the performance featured a cameo from Severina (2006 - Moja Stikla), so definitely check that performance out if you don't plan to watch the final on Sunday. It does very much feel as though this is all a formality for Baby Lasagna winning on Sunday, so hopefully his performance in the second semi-final tonight lives up to the positive reaction it has seemed to have got from rehearsals.
France are one of my favourites too, but I also haven't listened to it all that much recently. But the live performance at Dora was really strong. That acoustic part which has been added really does create a moment, a moment which I think will go down extremely well with both jury and televoters. France are a big contender to win this year going by the Dora performance. 😍
So question is if this is *Top 3* what are your other 2 in the Top 3 so far? Bc man at least from an outside fan from the US this has to be my absolute favorite so far this is so so so so so good!!!

Man pulled up to Dora, showed actual star quality and serious levels👏 Slimane is coming for a better finish than many of Eurofans favs whether they like it or not🥶
As for nearly everyone competing in that Semi it was rough to be kind. Eugen my fav wasn’t exactly convincing in regards to potentially being a dark-horse for the Final but was still comfortably one of the best of the night… Vinko was good but the song just does nothing for me personally and as for Let3🤐 i know some people find it entertaining/fun but i sat there watching completely unamused😐 Looks like i’m now fully joining the Baby Lasagna Brigade because i have zero interest in Let3 going to Eurovision again and stealing someone’s Final spot…

For the last 3 years, every single "reactor" explain how France's songs are amazing, good, extraordinary, and except for Barbara Pravi, each time France is badly ranked at the grand final night.
This year, Eurovision odds place France at the 10th position ! It's not a very good ranking...
It's like everything is written in advance.
Last year, even if Loreen didn't clear her song, she was already ranked first in the odds.
I personally think that "Mon amour" is quiet interesting, but again, because it is again a french ballad, people will vote for a complete innovative song or for a political choice (again !)
When France proposes an innovative song... it is ranked in the 5 last places 🙂

Oh gosh, I am so contrary the mainstream with Let3, didn't like them last year and this one, even less, not my cup of tea, sorry 😇. It's just, they remind me of those cheap circuses, you know what I mean? With a bearded woman, a sad clown that wears his make-up badly, little people being blown out of canons, a half dead tiger, those kind of things 😂😂😂. And last year I had the same feeling with those plain white undies 😜. But maybe I am being silly and to much an "elegant lady" 🙃?
About DORA, I think Vinko did very very well, I remember you liked him very much in your review and I was like hmmm, what do you hear that I don't🤔? But last night he was the best without a doubt and I now understand why you like it.
Disappointed with Eugen live but he was still one of the best in my opinion. Lana I liked but had pluses and minus. And Pavel is actually my little guilty pleasure from this semi, it's just sooo ABBA, I cannot NOT like it ☺☺🤫🤫😂😂.
The rest directly a nope for me. Overall, the different dress changes here and there were "a choice", the guitarman from Barbara Munjas was weird and Slimane...? Slimane was just absolutely, incredibly, undoubtfully, A M A Z I N G !!!! I am such a fan of him since this song came out and I love Croniques d'un cupidon (his last album which I highly recommend you listen), I listen to it every day. He is an amazing vocalist and also a very lovely person for what I have seen on social media. So I was very glad he did good yesterday but I felt a bit sorry for the participants of DORA, I suppose his performance was a bit intimidating 🤣🤣
The only think I don't like about Mon Amour is that there is this one moment that, to me, he shouts too much. But for the rest, total meltdown 😍.
