In this video we’re going to do a market analysis on Miles Morales books, take a look at the future of this character, and highlight some keys that are still worth picking up, stay tuned.
I’ve been getting asked a lot recently whether or not people should sell their Miles Morales keys, and in particular Ultimate Fallout 4. So I thought I’d do some research and make a whole video dedicated to the topic. Before we take a look at some numbers associated with UF4, I wanted to show off my two new beautiful investments here, two copies of Ultimate Spider-man 1, regular cover a in a CGC 9.8, and newsstand version is a CGC 9.6. This is the second appearance and origin of Miles Morales, 1st solo title, and the 1st appearance of the Ultimate Prowler, Miles Morale’s Uncle in the Ultimate universe. I invested 1225 in the regular cover and $2k in the newsstand because I feel that both of these books are undervalued. This cover A had a high sale of 1200 8 months ago, about the same price I paid, with average price of $800 8 months ago. 50% increase in value as opposed to over 200% for UF4, and it just hasn’t followed the trend of UF4. In addition there are far fewer copies of this book, only 241 CGC 9.8’s at the moment on the census. In addition to that, the cover is just incredible and in my opinion a more epic cover than UF4. The newsstand is just so incredibly rare, especially is high grade like this, and what happened here, is actually a really cool story. I was bidding on this same book on eBay, and had my high bid in at $2k and lost to a bid of $2050. I was so bummed and immediately got a bad case of FOMO, found another copy listed for $3k and shot the seller an offer of $2k, he said that was too low but hit me up on IG and said I can do $2k here. So I got to know the guy a bit, got some references from him felt totally comfortable and did the deal. We both saved big time on fees, and I ended up with the book way cheaper than I would had I won that auction. I’ve done that many times with big boy books on IG and have never had a problem, you gotta make sure you do it right though. The guy I bought it from actually had a ton of background info, made a really cool connection, and he actually let me know that he used to own most of the UF4 newsstand’s including a CGC 9.8. He sold his copy for $28,000, and he know Dinesh, the previous owner of Valiant Comics and current owner of Bad Idea, who sold his copy of UFT newsstand 9.8 for $25,000. There’s only one other copy known to exist for a total of 3 9.8’s and apparaently it’s not for sale for less than 30-35k. So that’s part of the reason I think this particular book is undervalued because UF4 Newsstands aren’t done climbing and every time there’s a record breaking sale we see a trickle down to all the other miles books, including this one.

I picked up a nice copy of the newsstand version of UC Spider-Man 1 for cover price at my LCS last week. Owner bought in a full collection and I was the first person to dig the boxes.

I bought my copy of Ultimate Fallout 4 almost 3 years ago for $35 dollars. I wish I would have bought more than 1 copy. It came back from CGC a 9.6. I agree UF4 has a lot of room to grow and could become a blue chip key in time. I plan on holding unto it my copy for the long haul as tempting it may be to sell. I bet Miles definitely makes a cameo this year in Spider-man 3 causing another rise in sales.

Been away from collecting comics for about 15 years. Coming back and finding your channel has been a blessing, as I've been able to learn a ton about 'modern' collecting, grading and investing. Looking forward to more nuggets of wisdom from you and this community.
I think UF #4 is the AF #15 of our time! Miles is a fully realized character and has the potential to carry the franchise after Peter Parker is finally retired.
Peter Parker will forever be tier 1 as Spidey.
if people are unaware i am a huge ultimate fallout #4 fan but only in a 9.6 as the 9.8 are super overrated IMO. but that book got some legs!

Great video ! Picked UF 4 in a 9.6 back in 2019 for. 100 bucks also bought the 2nd appearance newsstand 9.4 for 900 last fall . Glad I sprang for them !
Love the suggestions! I've been trying to stock up on cheaper smaller Keys and for a Character like Miles this is excellent info. I did happen to grab both UF4 second printings at 9.6 around $100 a piece and those both are already double and triple of what I paid on them.

I am definitely a Miles fan, and like you are hunting for some spec books. I just scored a high grade UC Spider-Man, I was too leery of grabbing a still in bag one. That's a nice newsstand you have, very jelly. I am also hopeful for that Champions 1 book. It keeps popping up now on books to look out for. Miles will be on the big screen, this is just the ground floor right now!

Got the Enter The Spider-Verse 1:10 Miles variant for cover price back when the movie came out. Sending it off this week since it was going for quite a lot a couple months ago and has doubled the last couple weeks.

It wasn't just UF4 that went up a lot from 12/20-3/21. The entire market seems to have doubled or tripled for many keys. I think it was mostly the stimulus payments. If you go back about July 2020, when the first stimulus payment went out, the market for most keys also jumped a lot. It settled for many a few months later but then jumped again in December. I'm wondering if it will settle again or not.
The US government is also printing an enormous amount of money, which means the available pool of dollars is larger, which you would think would lead to inflation and keep prices heading higher. No idea if that will manifest or not, a lot of people have different opinions on it, but it will be interesting to see how things play out. Btw I had a 9.8 UF4 I sold not long before it doubled to 1k. I'd bought it raw for $30 so I was just thinking: hey, 20x return on this. Wish I would've kept it though lol
The market triple coincides with, I think, was from Key collector reporting that Miles has already been cast/director chosen. I remember when the rumor came out and that and the title screen of the 2nd animated movie both coincided with it.

I still feel that Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man 1 Staples variant has the best cover art of Miles. Such an iconic kinda scene setting with Miles between the NYC taxis.

@@BrysComics Is that the Fionna Staples variant? I purchased that last September and the price has been surprisingly flat compared to other Miles Morales books. Any opinion on Spider-Man #1 Nas Illmatic homage "hip hop variant" by Adi Granov?
I purchased Ultimate Fallout #4 last September as well. Some people theorized that the price increases are attributed to the stimulus checks in the U.S., but the timing of those don't really coincide with the price increases we're seeing. Like someone else just commented, people are probably realizing that Miles Morales is THE Spider-Man for the younger generation and this could be the Amazing Fantasy #15 (rarity withstanding) of our time. I'm not old enough to have been around for AF 15, and certainly not rich enough to buy it now, but it was nice to know that I could afford the first appearance of a major character from this era.

During the spike many previous actors that played Spider-Man to include McGuire and Garfield were spotted on sets but remained as “rumors” of a reprisals...(Spider-Verse?) There was also a young looking person covered in a long winter that resembled a young black male walking on a set. I tried to look for the photo again but no luck.
This was around winter time so a perpetual flow of rumors that is not far fetched is what pushing this character plus investor groups soaking up the rare grades is also worth considering.

People had a lot of stimulus money. Many people just didn't have the money to buy that kind of book until they got the stimulus, imo

Good discussion. I feel like UF4 has come nowhere near peaking in demand. I feel like his 1st app will hit over 5k ungraded in the near future. He’s just too popular and anyone can see that his popularity will continue to grow. I think the bounce to comics values could have come from the trading card collectors bringing in trading card money to comics, I’ve seen quite a few videos from prominent sports card collectors mentioning that a lot of the sports card collectors feel a lot of comics are undervalued and they have deep pockets so they’re buying up comics and pushing up values. Of course this is just speculation but it does seem to be a common thought from the numerous videos I’ve seen from the sports cards community.

I know I just got back into comics and been following you and your advice, but I noticed on Ebay there's a bunch of Ultimate Fallout ,#4 for cheap am I missing something or 2nd printing etc???
Watch the version by looking at the face. If miles head is hidden and dark it is a first print and worth more money. 2 print has his face fully revealed and highlighted. There is also a variant of the 2 print which is a white cover with miles face

@@soundwave_9568 Most of the time I mention prices for a CGC graded 9.8. That's basically the highest grade awarded for comics (there are 9.9 and 10's but hardly ever). So certified comics have a much easier to track value because you can compare apples to apples. Ungraded books prices can be all over the map because condition varies so much.
