as a young newish collector the most common thing i run into is local stores up charging crazy amounts for slabs and raws. then gaslight me when i question the ridiculous prices. i desperately need a good fmv tool that is free
Love this update. I've used both GoCollect and GPA over the last year. I really like the visualization of GoCollect because there are so many covers released any more it's helpful to see the one I'm looking for. Also glad the FMV is coming more in line. But you should NEVER just rely on the FMV shown, you always have to look at recent sales for the very reasons you pointed out. There always seems to be some anomaly high or low that affects the FMV.
The market is absolutely difficult to gage and it changes alot having a algorithm is definitely helps out buyers and sellers. Also i have been picking up some silver age slabs way cheaper then I thought I would be recently. makes me happy to pick up stuff that a few years ago I wouldn't have been able to
Thanks for this video Bry and getting on them to revamp the way they do the FMV. I have my whole collection of slabs and GoCollect and find it very useful. I just wish they went back to when you click on the drop-down list of what you own that it shows which grade you own. Right now it’s just shows that what you paid. Appreciate you
How common is it for an industry to grow only to have those sitting in the big offices to become more and more detached from those that feed it? I think that it is pretty awesome that heard that there were issues and reached out to a valid source to resolve those said issues.
This is good news. I’ve always used gocollect as a quick benchmark pricer but I’d always do more indepth research on books i’m looking to actually buy. If they can be closer to reliable that would be excellent! Gg Bry.
I'm with @FireflyComics regarding raws. There are so many collectors that don't slab or just a large section of the market that are still unslabbed and the tools are all over the place. One of the things that still I still find problematic is the limited number of sources that are used for pricing--both for raw and slabs. There are a lot of large shops and platforms like YT, Instagram and Whatnot that are ignored (or just not able to be accounted for) and can in my opinion change things drastically.
You're the best, man! You're also having a big impact on the quality of pricing tools. Pricing tools fight a losing battle as the market fluctuates. Thanks for reminding the pricing tool guys to stay vigilant and continuously try to improve their tools.
The thing I absolutely hate the most about this hobby is how comic values are almost exclusively linked to movies and tv shows. It artificially hypes and destroys so many titles and books. I get it, it's always been a motivator but now it's like the stock exchange with day traders and spec buyers flipping commodities.
I only know of two comic book shops in a hundred mile radius of my house where I can go in and feel I get a fair deal. There have been times where I've offered these shops half of what they are asking and they took it without question. All that showed me was that they were trying to make money screwing people. That is not a long-term business strategy.
I will say that my LCS, the owner still uses Overstreet to price his books. He says sometimes he goes to eBay and Mercari just to see what there selling there books for. I will say that he doesn’t really want to depend on the digital world to price his books. However, sometimes his prices are a little off. Either very cheap or really expensive. I asked him if he used go collect and he said no. I told him that he should check it out. I use key collector but only to keep track of what comics I need and not as a pricing tool. Thanks for this video Bry, I’m going to ask him to check it out.
Looking to buy my very first ever comic , overwhelmed trying to understand it all but ur vids and advice are amazing , hope to deal with u soon(all the way from the United Kingdom)🍻
Really great video! I've been a subscriber to gocollect for a couple of years now and this video really made me feel I made the right decision to subscribe. Thanks!
I saw the mention of the new algorithm and was not sure myself but I thought maybe it was better? Trying to keep up on the daily is a whole thing! Great video man. Keep killing it!!!!
I always struggle deciding if it’s time to sell-I’m hoping prices will increase in this current market. But I also think it’s a good time to buy. So the supply is weighing on the demand.
Absolutely, the reputation you have built over time which has added an invaluable amount of trust that is juxtaposed to your name in the community is irreplaceable. 💯%
The whole FMV thing is a constant struggle but at least GoCollect is making a concerted effort to improve their algorithm. I just wish that the comic book pricing sites would come together and come to some type of consensus as an industry on how they are going to collectively determine FMV. I don't believe it would give a competitive advantage to any individual site for all of them to submit to the same standard. In fact I think it would help them all as then it would create more confidence within the community regarding FMV's as there would be one set standard across the board.
Hey, what’s going on I love watching your videos. You are extremely knowledgeable about our passion.. anyway, I even spoke to GoCollect on the phone. Everything is.FMV they take the major auction houses except for Comic Link and that’s how they come up with the figure.. so they are doing the right thing by grade. It’s hard to put FMV on raw comic books. But they are very very close with their fair market value on what your books should sell for.. let’s take my amazing fantasy 15 6.0 which I paid $4000 for years ago. No Marvel chipping presents much better.. they have the FMV at $74,000. On the other hand I was offered $100,000 but I’m not selling the book and that was a recent offer.
Anyway, great for you. Sounds like you are very wealthy. If you can’t afford to buy major collections, I can’t do that I’m not in the restaurant business anymore. I don’t have any money I just go to lots of Yankee games every year. I have lots of tickets..
This update is an absolute abomination. I have several books that I had tracked at a value that GoCollect has now cut by more than half, even when they are extremely rare, silver and golden aged, graded books that have not recorded a sale in several years and the last sale was 50% higher than what GoCollect is now claiming the FMV to be. I'm glad you are excited to be a part of this upgrade, however, from my perspective this is complete horse!@#$ to have consciously charged users for a service that was either so incorrect for so long, or is now so far from what is correct. It's can't be both and GoCollect should be ashamed, regardless which of these conclusions you choose to support. Maybe for smaller, less valuable books the difference is negligible, but for scarce keys, this is an epic failure by GoCollect on many levels... Also, it's not there's, it's theirs.
I suggest you reach out to them, they will more than likely work with you and the algorithm to fix the specific niche you’re talking about. There’s tons of nuance and if you don’t bring it to their attention they won’t know.

FMV is a really tough concept for raw comics
The market is absolutely difficult to gage and it changes alot having a algorithm is definitely helps out buyers and sellers. Also i have been picking up some silver age slabs way cheaper then I thought I would be recently. makes me happy to pick up stuff that a few years ago I wouldn't have been able to
I really like how respectfully you handled the purchase of mr. Wilbur‘s collection. Not many out there who would do it that way.
Appreciate you
They might be able to fix that quickly if you reach out to them…
Cheers! Bry is a man of the People. I am bummed that I am going to miss your WhatNot sale Friday-damn friends and social life😜 Keep grinding bro!✌️
😂
Thanks for your take on the GoCollect update. Inspires confidence knowing you feel it's an improvement.
I hope they come up with a good accurate pricing guide one day that everyone can refer to
One of the reasons why you are successful at this is because of your honesty, and it's why I personally trust you in this market.
Awesome. Congratulations on 20k and the acknowledgement. You deserve it, well done.🤘🏻
🎉

I think this is beyond cool too

I’ll have to check them out. Pricing tools are so frustrating

This is so awesome to see! Thanks for your contributions to the hobby Bry.
It is awesome that they were open to constructive criticism and they were able to find a fix for it so quickly!
Congrats Bry on 20k, Great video! Love all the info and honesty.
Glad to hear Go Collect takes your feedback in determining the FMV which a lot of collectors, including myself, uses frequently
"Cutthroat in fairness and honesty" seems like an oxymoron. I think it fits you.
That is an odd pairing of words.
I only know of two comic book shops in a hundred mile radius of my house where I can go in and feel I get a fair deal. There have been times where I've offered these shops half of what they are asking and they took it without question. All that showed me was that they were trying to make money screwing people. It’s very ineffective
I really appreciate your brutal honesty with the business and prices. Bravo man!

Thanks for looking out for the community. You da man!!!
It's great to have a reliable tool for fmv.
I like to see that these tools are continually improving.
This is good information for people who are looking for a place to assess the value of their collections.
I no longer get the newsletter. I am signed up. It just doesn't get to my inbox. Doesn't hit spam either. I miss it.
Dang, good to see. Might have to start cataloguing with gocollect in the future
This is awesome…giving the community MORE tools is definitely a necessity to keep things reasonable
Once again a champion for fairness and integrity in our hobby
Looking to buy my very first ever comic , overwhelmed trying to understand it all but ur vids and advice are amazing , hope to deal with u soon(all the way from the United Kingdom)🍻
Cherry popping time. 👍 Wishing you luck.
👏
@@BrysComics just purchased my first ever comic from you 🍻
Really great video! I've been a subscriber to gocollect for a couple of years now and this video really made me feel I made the right decision to subscribe. Thanks!

This is so great! I'm a new collector, so this is super helpful
I always struggle deciding if it’s time to sell-I’m hoping prices will increase in this current market. But I also think it’s a good time to buy. So the supply is weighing on the demand.
So glad there FMVs are better now. Will renew my subscription now, thanks Bry!
That’s great - I also hope cover price ups their game
I love how honest and how good your prices are on your site.
Pretty neat that pricing tools are responding to CZcamsr critiques
Absolutely, the reputation you have built over time which has added an invaluable amount of trust that is juxtaposed to your name in the community is irreplaceable. 💯%
🙏🏻
How cool it must be to be publicly acknowledged like that in your chosen field. Sweet!
Great breakdown in the comparisons. Thank you for doing the work!
Congrats on 20k subs Bry!! Keep it going!!!

Their tool for calculating FMV is not perfect but it is 100 times better than the previous one they had.
Good video and always good to improve pricing information.
I think I've spent well over $10k at Brys Comics and I always feel like the prices are fair. The hard part is waiting for the books I'm looking for 😅
Thank you so much for all the support!
Thank you Bryan - great video. Helpful insight as always. Appreciate it.
Thank you for the helping info.. appreciate you!
I have a question, what about Key Collector? How are they when it comes to cataloging a collection?
For me, the hunting is the fun part. Know your local markets. Get familiar with your local stores. Happy hunting
Always happy to see companies taking criticism and trying to omporove their product
Love the bundle of Strange Tales I purchased.
👏
Another banger, thanks Bry!
Good looking out
Auctions are included on GoCollect. Does that get factored in to their FMV amount? And if so, should auctions be excluded from the calculation?
good video, bro. congrats on reaching 20K subs.
👏
Great to see some much needed changes and help level out some crazy values
Thanks for all content you put out bry always helpful or interesting
Love the content I've checked out the Wilber collection some very nice books
Im not touching GoCollect. The owner is too sleazy.
Cmon Darkhawk Signature Series!
Did you intentionally leave out “Copper” in your categorization, or is that not commonly used?
Great video. Looks like I’ll need to subscribe to Go Collect. See you Friday on What Not!

Great video..thanks for info!
I'm not to sure of Go Collect since I've never tried them out at all.
Cya friday.. hopefully finally win something haha.. aka not get beat massively
Awesome thanks for you efforts with out meaning to lol
Meh, most of my PC is over FMV.
Great video, Bry. 🍻
Great video man! I have a lot more raw books than graded, is Go Collect best for graded copies or both?? Looking forward to the giveaway! Thanks
They only do graded at the moment…
Ok thanks for the heads-up!@@BrysComics
Very dope. Thx Bry
ayyyy 20k grats
🙌🙌
Great video!
Good job, Bry!
Neat update!
Go collect is good, but the market is weak and there are a lot of deals to be had out there..
Anyway, great for you. Sounds like you are very wealthy. If you can’t afford to buy major collections, I can’t do that I’m not in the restaurant business anymore. I don’t have any money I just go to lots of Yankee games every year. I have lots of tickets..
Congrats
Glad to see changing coming even if they take time it still shows commitment to the hobby.
Thanks for the info and thanks for sharing.
Well earned great reputation
I love GoCollect
Victorious yet again!
Grats at 20k
🙏🏻
Killing it, bro
Is this spreadsheet in GoCollect or is it something you made?
Just a Google sheet
Great video
