Some of my best memories , Saturday afternoons back in the 70s( bbc2) watching George formby films with my late grandparents .
I love George Formby great artist thanks Paul ❤
thank you paul my younger brother died in 1982 he loved george.this brought so memories of laughing as a child .
A very skilled artist who died way before his time but if you ask many people what do you think of the word ukulele the vast majority would say George Formby, what an accolade, gone but not forgotten.
Have a great weekend Paul with great respect...
I remember watching George formby as a kid with my mum and dad he was so funny god rest his soul,a brilliant entertainer with a distinked voice loved his songs to bless him.
Loved watching this man my grandparents and my parents brought me up watching oldies they were great
George was Norman Wisdom before Norman Wisdom.
2 talented greats
👍🏻👍🏻😁
George Formby did a lot of shows in Dudley at Dudley hippodrome across the road stands the station hotel were any of the star's of the day what played at the hippodrome would stay when George stayed at the hotel the fans would shout up to George to come out onto the balcony he would come out and stand on the balcony and woo fans with a couple of his songs I always think of him when I'm passing the station hotel and see that balcony great man also his car can be seen down the road at the black country living museum great video 👍
George Formby woz a LEGEND
keep up the great work Paul
When George was returning from a gig, he would always ask his chauffeur to drive him through Wigan in his Rolls Royce. At some point George would wind down the windows and shout, at the top of his voice, "Thank You WIgan!". Paul, another great video, if you are ever Preston way, I can run you through a quick mindfulness session!
When I was about 10 (1966) I first watched GF in a movie in which he sang " When I'm cleaning windows "... It was just so funny ! I've never forgotten that moment.
One of the true greats of old school entertainment. He left us too soon but left behind loads of amazing gifts Thank you Mr Formby ❤ 😊
Hiya Paul, When I used to live with my Nanna and Granda, I used to have a snooker table, Nanna used to say "why don't you give Paul a game of snooker?" when we played snooker I would give him total silence, when it was my turn to play Granda used to sing "I'm leaning on the lamppost at the corner of the street, in case a certain little lady goes by" in my head is was saying "Granda please shut up", I enjoyed this vlog, it brought back great memories about my Granda, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
when I'm cleaning windows and leaning on the lamppost were absolute classics.
George Formby was amazing. A wonderfully Talented man. I truly enjoy him voice, his music and movies. Forget Norman Wisdom, Charlie Drake, This man was True genius. So I take this moment to reflect on the joy, happiness and smile which he alone set upon me. Thank you George Formby.
I also enjoy the older Cemetry. I live beside Lough Neagh, NI, and travel (Drive, Belfast to Scotland to Yorkshire ) twice (2) times each year to Middleborough In north Yorkshire. To clean and wash the headstones, place flowers, lay new white stones (If needed) and have the gilding renewed, on 3 graves (Same cemetery). No they are not relative, these are people to whom I have never forgotten for being kind, sharing their meals, for treating me as their own in the 60s. I've been doing this for 30 years + and the only time I have missed was C19. I'm heading the once again 01/10.23 I feel a great presents and joy that I have achieved something once more.
I stay in the cemetery approximately 5 hours. Sometimes it nice to keep some memories. NO MEMORIES YOU HAVE NOTHING.🙏🙏🙏
I remember watching George with my parents , I just loved watching anything that he was in . Thank you Paul ❤
Well I go stalking gravesites to learn a little more

I love goerge Formby as a warrington adult I was brought up with his songs as I am 65
Hi Paul, well can I say " that's a mega headstone " and still kept clean. I didn't know he passed so young, I loved watching his films during my school days back in early 80s. Loved the one called keep fit , where hes a boxer and has a horse shoe in his gloves I think. I did read that his wife was a bully and extremely jealous.

Wow that’s a beautiful memorial. Great video :)
A little shamed to say that I was only familiar with a couple of his tunes. I really had no idea how big he actually was. I am now educated more on him.

Interesting grave. Yes, I remember him just about with his catchy tunes. Strange home life and he had a short life but his dad had a shorter one! Anyway he entertained millions and made them feel better. Thanks
Thanks for another great video. Remember seeing his grave back in 1996 when I was working nearby. Forgot how big a headstone it was.
Excellent as usual Paul, I'm a huge fan of anything to do with Rorkes Drift in the Zulu war, I've visited three graves of the VC recipients up to press, Private Frederick Hitch VC in St Nicholas churchyard in Old Chiswick London, you can't miss his grave, Surgeon Major Reynolds VC in Kensal Rise cemetery London, It took some finding, and Private William Jones VC in Phillips Park cemetery in Manchester, he's right at the end opposite Man City's stadium. I've got another five to visit here in the UK making a total of eight, Lt Bromhead VC (Michael Caine in Zulu) is buried in India, Christian Scheiss was buried at sea and Commissary Dalton is buried in South Africa. I must also visit the grave of Colour Sgt Bourne DCM in Beckenham cemetery London. It would be great to see you following in my footsteps...
Thank you. Another great video. I bought a boxset of his movies online during the Lockdown here and really enjoyed them. Thank you again.😉
Hi paul, thankyou for this video, what an amazing performer back in his day, seen all his films and love his songs, i also love his famous cheeky phrase, "turned out nice again has'nt it", ha ha, his ukelele playing inspired me to learn to play guitar, george is up there with the greats such as laurel and hardy, abbot and costello, among others, even today he lives on in our hearts and minds.
Hello Paul yes I've visited the grave I was a window cleaner oo mother 😊
To me, l will always remember George singing and smiling at the same time.

He died far to young but left some great memories for people of a certain age.
George Formby was way before my time but his songs Leaning on a Lampost and When I'm Cleaning Windows are iconic! Another great video sensitivity done, thank you

Love his songs, and all the ones of that era. Great information again - thanks Paul
George Formby...
Clever lad & no slouch on the banjolele.
Thanks mate, great work.
Another great video Paul. I loved watching his films when I was younger as its classic slapstick humour that children love without the swearing. My favourite film was 'spare a copper' when hes a wartime Policeman. Keep up the

I saw a completely strange guy there my mate was with me and he was walking about acting very strange. It was in July.
Great video Paul, I absolutely love George Formby, 56 is way too young to go,a great loss to the world! He played some really entertaining songs, so many good ones, but my favourite is 'Emporer of Lancashire'. Even now he is a great pick me up, just always feel happy when I listen to him!

Great work.
Perth WA
I love all of George Formby films
Hi Paul, was there in June when burying my uncle and cousin in same grave. Also have other relatives there as my family are from Warrington. Take care. George's grave is huge like you say x
I used to drag my mom around humble sales looking for his albums when I was a kid. RIP George.
As a big George formby fan i have visited his resting place in 1992 then again in 2010 its great to see this tribute to such a great character who never forgot his public despite his fame and fortune well done again 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I loved GF. My English mother loved him RIP 🙏
Lovely tribute sir!.......Mr Formby was I guess the first ever real pop " star"........sign is on it!
Had no idea he was only 56.......WoW!
Boy agreed.....that's some headstone!
Hi Paul I loved George especially the singing my two favourites were Leaning on the Lampost and of course When I'm cleaning Windows , lovely childhood memories popping in my head now . Cheers Paul another great one take it easy 👉 x
I’m from wigan and George formby is one of my biggest inspirations I hope I can go to the cemetery one day and pay my respects
My hometown. Spent many hours walking around the cemetery as a child . Now the resting place of my grandparents.
I remember his catchphrase Turned out nice again. I remember watching one of his films as a child he was a funny man.
Love walking in cemeteries totally agree with the mindfulness xx
When I’m cleaning windows for me always put smile on my face
Another good one Paul. I remember my dad had an LP of his and !loved his songs, so I heard of him as a young child this way. This kind of grave is more along the lines that I expected from the famous, but in many cases, it isn't like that at all.
I recall cruising on the Norfolk Broads and a friend pointing out a house that George Formby used to own at Wroxham. Interesting nostalgia vid, Paul. 👍
Very true seen it myself
Hi Paul absolutely love the channel and seeing your visits to see the famous grave but I’m a big fan of George formby so really enjoyed this keep up the great work
A true icon!, great video again Paul.
Wow, what a grave! I don't know much about him apart from the odd song he sung and his catchphrase "turned out nice again" so thank you for this Paul. Very informative. Hope you're well 😊
Hiya Nicola, I think it was the fast show they done a spoof on him when George finished singing George said "turned out Shi** again" I think Paul Whitehouse played George Formby
@@paulguise698 Hi Paul, oh really? Thanks for that, will look it up 😊
@@paulguise698 that was Mark Lamarr interviewing Bernard Manning 👍 on CZcams 1.57
Loved George's singing,keep up the good work Paul,love watching ur video's x
Absolutely love George formby
George was before my time and I was young when he died. But I feel as if I know him due to the black and white tv clips over the years. Mention the ukulele and George Formbys name pops up every time. I would imagine he cheered many hundred of people during those dark war years. A fitting memorial for him Paul. I agree with you on cemeteries too. I love them, and find them to be very relaxing and thought provoking. I’d love to live near one.
