Speeding Tank Train Goes Under Me & Knocks Down The Signal! Longest CSX Train Ever Empties The Yard!

- CSX tanker train goes flying under dangerous old bridge and knocks down the signal at the railroad yard interchange for Ohio South Central Railroad. Gigantic CSX mixed freight passes VA Junction crossing. These trains are in Ohio near Waverly and Chillicothe. Includes a railroad crossing near Wellston with Ohio South Central Railroad taking covered hopper cars to a customer. The 4 track railroad yard that you see the tank train passing through ( Vauces ) is the interchange point for CSX and Ohio South Central Railroad OSCR. Watch the signal change from green to red as the train passes it. I love seeing that. I hope by now that everyone has learned the phrase "knocking down the signal". It just means that the signal goes from green to red as the train passes it. The second train was a huge CSX manifest that was at the north end of the yard entering the single main at VA Junction. Check out the old railroad shanty at the junction. I wonder how old it is and when it was last used. I was hoping to see an OSCR train but they didn't run while I was there. I put in a clip of them that I filmed earlier in the year that was never posted. I spent 6 hours in this area and saw 2 CSX trains. Norfolk Southern has a line less than 2 miles to the west on the other side of the Scioto River. That line had 4 trains pass through in the same time. Listen in: CSX uses 160.230. Norfolk Southern uses 161.190 and Ohio South Central Railroad uses 160.965 although it will take some luck to catch them. I filmed this video on December 28, 2021. Thanks for watching! It's nice to see those first generation diesels still running. Lionel called those a GP-9 because it had the dynamic brake housing. I have four of the GP-7's from 1956. No dynamic brake housing.

There's a great pedestrian bridge in Crescent Springs, KY that you should check out if you haven't already where you can watch trains go right below you. Just navigate to the street parking lot behind 2515 Anderson Rd, Crescent Springs, KY 41017 and you be next to 2 Norfolk and Southern lines that are quite active. The pedestrian bridge is within sight of this lot and is a great vantage point.
Great video - seeing that signal getting knocked down was a great catch. So was the small local train.

@@ronmartin4212 watch as the train approaches the signal and see the indication change from green to red- that is known as ' knocking the signal down ' - when the railroads used semaphores, the arm in the upright position meant clear track ahead, and when the train passed, the arm would drop to horizontal - knocked down - hence the term.
It would be nice for those of us that arent in on"railroad lingo"to be made aware of these expressions.Its not a secret club thing here-or is it?!?!?
@@ronmartin4212 I am not a railroad employee - i just picked up the terminology by reading Trains magazine, going to railroad museums from time to time and basically ' on the fly ' - in time you will learn the terms and it will make sense. I had patience and time to learn it.
Chillicothe good deal! You are working your way closer to me. If anyone is near pleasantville there is a train crossing just near the village. Kanawha railroad passes through there. I usually hear them at 2:00 and 5:00. Come check it out!

Nice vid - we get a bunch of those unit oil trains out here - full cars headed west and empties going back east bound to the Dakotas. Usually a pair of big GEs on the front and then another pair on the back pushing. Cool little old bridge too.

Another great video I live in England and love America trains would love to see it the only time I have seen one when I went to plant city in 2009 and saw a csx train loved that.
I've seen some of those tanker trains having flexible hose connecting all cars. That would allow filling or emptying the whole train from a single point. A pipeline on wheels.
Just remember that the same people who hate pipelines are the same people who hate oil trains.
GATX's TankTrain. It didn't connect the whole train -- it's strings of five interconnected cars. Still described as a current product on GATX's website, but the idea doesn't seem to have taken off.

That was a great overhead view of the CSX tank car train from the bridge over the CSX tracks. That second train was moving rather slowly and took its time going through the switch. I wonder why it was moving slow? Thank you for capturing these two trains and for adding the views of the Ohio South Central Railroad train and the engines at the yard. The paint scheme on that light green diesel reminded me of the paint scheme of the Illinois Terminal Railroad.

I have a book from my trucking days that tell what is in those tankers... especially if there is any possible danger to it however large or small quantity... the number would have to be displayed on the train car.

South Central special and North bound hanging on to all the rail fanning is on the move head lights are bright tap that signal VA line looking good for CSX I'm hoping for the DPU is coming I want to see those boxcars be like there empty and there is tank, cargo's is a slow start they're gonna go just little fast yeah some of them are loaded or most of them I'm glad that signal didn't jump are the train have to stop Ohh! Here's something, and it backs up what I've read about some railroads making fewer but longer trains* The other day going through Orangeburg, SC on the way to Charleston, 3 lead engines, two in the middle and a total of 260 cars, mostly containers head for the port, plus mixed freight...
I didn't realize there are trains still going from Orangeburg, S.C. to Charleston S.C.
I rode the train all my life from the Midwest to The South and East still remembered the excitement and still love trains.
