I think an ape escape remake would be interesting because it’s much more of a Japanese art style. Especially the human characters. I just hope it is more then a remaster.

Ape Escape Move used anime cutscenes but Ape Escape 1~3 use more of a authentic art style than anime.

Ape Escape 1 was my first experience using joysticks on a home console. I had to buy a ps1 controller with sticks to play it. Prior to this game I had never seen a controller with joysticks. It's a vivid memory from childhood.
Also known as DualShock. I'm still mad they changed the name for PS5 as DualSense. If it's not DualSense 2 on PS6 I'm gonna lose my mind.

Ape Escape was my first exposure to the anime artstyle when I was a kid. Now I want to see a full blown anime series about it.
If it didn't get remade you can rely on us to remake skyrim again. A fair trade off I would say

I played Ape Escape 2 quite a bit as a kid. My grandma had a ton of games at her house and she got AE2 after her copy of AE1 (which I also played a lot of) broke.
I got my own copy in 2015/2016. I fell in love with it all over again and beat it 100% 6 times in under a month when I got it, 3 as Jimmy and 3 as Spike. I love the graphics, the music, and it has some of my favorite levels in the trilogy. Jimmy is also my favorite of the AE protagonists, like his design the most.
I haven't played the PS4 re-release, the UK voice acting kinda turned me off. I actually completely forgot they pronounced Pipotchi differently in the UK dub.
It's my favorite Ape Escape, one of my favorite platformers, and one of my favorite games of all time. I'm glad to see you cover it, peope don't talk about the sequels that often.
Funny how I'm in the middle of playing Ape Escape 2 for the very first time, and then this happens.
While I do enjoy it, I feel Ape Escape 2 doesn't quite capture the same charm the first game did, whether it be the music, the gameplay or the visuals.

Ape Escape 2 on the PS2 is apparently a rare game now
I often called the "Gimmicked Monkeys" "Costume Monkeys" since that's what they are.
Going from Monkeys dressed as knights with a shields and swords, Clown Monkeys that spit fire at Jimmy/Hikaru, and some just have costumes that like Ant says, are related to the level itself.
Since this was my first Ape Escape game as a kid (I had the PS4 Port) it was pretty unique and fun all around.
When I went back to play On The Loose, I got to see a few different mechanics and fun little minigames like the boxing minigame. Though having to collect enough Specter Coins to unlock them just felt like a pain in the neck to do, ESPECIALLY when you sometimes may need a new Gadget to reach them.
The electromagnet has some interesting ideas "attached" to it.

Aside from hype for the Recaptured Trilogy, whenever they announce THAT, I'm hyped for someone in this day and age to FINALLY talk about Ape Escape 3, my childhood Ape Escape game, aside from the demo of Ape Escape 1 on a Pizza Hut Demo Disk (yeah, remember when THOSE were a thing?).

The Monkey Soccer minigame was my favorite of the minigames here when I was a kid, although I could never beat the final level in it. That aside the main game is fun and enjoyable. Also the reason the names are different in the EU version is because those are their original japanese names-the NA versions of the AE games changed them to be Americanized.

I remember playing this game back in 2017 it honestly was my favorite game that I played that year, so I'm glad you're finally reviewing it!
What's funny though is despite the PAL version of Ape Escape 2 being the only English version of the game on the PS4, the trophies still reference the PS2 American version with one of them using the name Jimmy. I guess the whole weird thing with Ubisoft distributing the American PS2 release is why Sony opted to stick with the PAL version on PS4, but I still wish there was at least an option to play the American version instead just so people like me (people who grew up on early Pokemon) can hear the original voices of Ash and Misty in something that's not Pokemon.
but honestly, i would prefer an Ape Escape 4 over a remake any day lol.

Nah Ape Escape 2 was the best, 3 was cool but still meh.
I liked AE3 because of the combat and that you could play as a girl however, I did like all the goodies you could get in AE2 with that Gotcha box. That Gotcha box was fun to come back to.

I believe the reason why Ubisoft got to publish Ape Escape 2 for the US, is because Sony didnt seem that interested in localizing the series after Ape Escape 1(which explain why most of the spin-offs are Japanese only), hell even the Ape Escape anniversary is from Sony of Japan only.

So here's my history with Ape Escape, got it for Christmas on PS1, played it until I got to T-rex level, kindly out it back in its case and never played it again lol🤣

People sleep on the fact that Ape Escape isn't actually a trilogy, it's a quadrilogy. Yeah there was a fourth one that never got released outside of Japan and I would kill to play that instead of a remake of the first 3.
