8-track tapes wow bought back alot of great memories from the good old days lol. Used to have a box like that full of nothing but ELVIS 8-tracks, but sadly their all gone. Christian, last week I went into an antique mall and they had literally over 35 Elvis 8 track tape originals for only $50. Well, kooky me figured I would go back and purchase them but you know the rest … maybe next time. 😊

Interesting video! I was born just as 8 tracks began their swift decline, so by the time I could get my grubby hands on some second hand audio equipment, 8 tracks were a thing of the past. I never realized the Elvis 8 tracks were so hideous in terms of artwork and pictures, even compared to the sub industry standard look of most of Elvis's albums. I know Colonel Parker sold the pics to RCA used on the albums, so I am assuming he also had the final say in cassette tapes and 8 track pictures, but I wonder. Maybe the Colonel was a slightly caught up in the past and specified vinyl records which created a loophole allowing RCA to slap anything they wanted on cassettes and 8 tracks? I am also wondering if the Colonel lost approval control on anything RCA published from the back catalogue Elvis sold to them around 1973, which would explain the double album 8 tracks you showed as I can't believe the Colonel would ever package two whole albums together for the price of one.
