It was a disappointment in the beginning but I feel very good about the way I was able to troubleshoot and am pretty happy with it now.

My vote is still out on whether I like my SIG nib. I'm still getting used to it but that might take some time.

same happened to me with a broad nib from franklin christoph for my opus 88 and i noticed that the tine’s were very close, so i fixed with a thin plastic, and i pass it through the tines and now it works perfectly

Oh, that's good to know. I didn't even think to floss the tines with this nib!

I just ordered that Med SIG nib for my Opus 88 Fantasia. I’ve had my eye on one of these nibs for a while now. I’d originally ordered my Fantasia with a stub nib and I’m not a fan of how that stub writes. I’d switched it out with a fine custom Bobby nib but it’s not very fun and kinda “basic.”
Now this…oh boy! I’m hoping this makes me enjoy writing with my Opus 88.

I hope you enjoy the stub nib in the Fantasia! Every time I use it, I enjoy it immensely.

Congratulations on your new Franklin Christoph model 45! It looks lovely. Some of your early experience with the pen resonates for me. I bought a model 45L with a fine SIG nib + a medium stub Nagahara nib during Franklin Christoph's October online pen show. I loved using the pen but was sometimes frustrated at similar hard starts, fast drying, etc. When I ordered the pen I also ordered a jar of silicone grease, because I was curious about trying to eye-dropper the pen. I stalled, but I finally eye-droppered the pen in December or January after using cartridges and the converter (the 45L takes converters). I feel like the pen's and the nibs' extraordinary potential only came out when I eye-droppered it. I wonder now if these pens are tuned to perform best when eye-droppered. The process at first was a little nerve-wracking, for a novice. I was worried ink would leak or fly everywhere. But if you grease the nib unit threads and the threads of the barrel carefully, it works amazingly well. I won't go back to using cartridges or the converter unless for travel. Franklin Christoph has a how-to video for greasing their pens to eye-dropper them on their website www.franklin-christoph.com/pages/how-to-videos. Wishing you many happy years and adventures ahead with that pen!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This matches with one of my friends who purchased a 45 and never used a cartridge but eye-
droppered it right away. She doesn't have any hard starts or problems with the pen at all.

Same.. I just flew across country and several of my eye dropper filled pens leaked pretty massively.. but I love using my eyedrppered pens so much.
