If hazardous chemicals are routinely being shipped through residential communities or otherwise, they need a requirement to have an emergency plan prepared in ADVANCE for short- and long- term impacts to humans, air , water, soil, and wildlife. Should be updated regularly and staff trained on procedures. It's really shocking that they're saying they have to study the hazmat effects or figure out a solution, AFTER a derailment/accident occurs.

The White House has no power to spend $billions - that's Congress.
Last I checked many republicans in Congress voted to approve what was sent.
Also it's not money that actually leaves the US because it was all spent on military hardware and supplies from American manufacturing.
aka 'charitably' spending on another country, but the American economy gains anyway.
Which is why even Republicans will vote for it and why even Democrats often vote for increasing military budgets, because it often results in a gain to the economy.

A simple search of the racial demographic profile of East Palestine shows that the town has zero African-American residents and it is about 98% Caucasian. That metric alone, to me, explains why there is practically NO effort on the part of various federal agencies (EPA, Transportation, CDC, FEMA, etc.) to proactively offer financial assistance to the residents of that town. It's pretty clear that the federal gov't is all too happy to spend lavishly on housing and feeding illegal immigrants (oops, asylum-seekers); and I am confident that if East Palestine had even a small number of African-American residents who were also affected by this disaster, and if THEY were voicing their fully justifiable complaints on TV, the financial aid would already be in the pipeline for all. Our federal, and some state, governmental agencies are now run by people who are openly biased against this nation's majority populace. They have no shame.
Most of these people will never wish to return to their homes for fear of acquiring cancer precursors. I don't blame them. What it would cost ANY federal agency to buy out their homes at fair-market value and render financial assistance for relocation is a microscopic fraction of those agencies annual budgets. We simply cannot cut these good people loose to twist in the wind financially. To refuse this help will be to consign these people to a choice between staying in their homes, which will never sell, terrible health as time goes on and, eventually, awful deaths from the worst kinds of cancer. Or they can simply pack up and move somewhere with the $$ in their savings, NO reimbursement for their home equity or business equity, and possibly the loss of employment. Imagine THAT being YOUR choice. They deserve much better.

This IS an entire US disaster.
This is an environmental, ecological & economical disaster. It’s not just air & above ground or in wells that water and contaminants move.
This contamination field will be expanding below ground level for years.

Every CEO of the railroad should have every penny taken from them to pay for the this situaiton. They have done criminal activity by not maintaining their trains, by having too many cars, for keeping a train going when it had problems the day before. The only people in America who could have prevented this situation were the extremely well paid CEO. The buck stops with them. Until they are totally bankrupt and criminally indicted, the people of the four states involved will not get the help they need. Take their money now. These people need help now. Stop blaming people who could have not stopped this from happening. Sure it would be nice if there were more regulations of industry, But the GOP refuses to do it, and even when they do the greedy CEO[s ignore it with numerous violations. They work their employees to death and they don't maintain the rails or the trains. and yet they are extremely rich but horrible bosses. They caused it , put them in jail until you take all their money to deal with at least part of this problem. You know the people in this town do not have resources to pay for the CEO's lack of regard for human health and care for the environment. Get all hands on deck from all the universities to study and examine the cost of this toxic disaster. Stop gas lighting these people. They say they are sick and you say go to the doctor, but I sure don't get the impression that you are taking theri concerns seriously. It is going to take a village of experts to do timely help for the affected people,, animals and lland. All of this could have been prevented. This is criminal. It is from greed.
