  • Rebecca Cope, 34, from London, learned to make candles by watching CZcams videos and launched Lit Wicks with just £200 in November last year.
The candles are labels with phrases such as: "I'm kind of a big deal", "Stay classy, sassy and a bit bad assy","I can't adult today", helping her to attract a loyal following on Instagram.
Rebecca officially launched the company in November last year with a budget of £200 that she invested in raw material like wax and fragrances. Since then she hasn't had to add a penny more of her own money.
But the online business is still in its early days. Rebecca makes her candles in her flat and her loved ones help her out for free whenever she gets a big order - but she no longer needs a full-time job to make ends meet.

Steve Hewitt Mini owner all fragrance oils are different , you need to get information from the makers or suppliers...too much can make you get headaches etc and candle burning badly , not enough and obviously people can’t smell it .

even if you can consider her captions as man hating "they might be for all we know". But that doesn't matter any small business owner should be commended for finding their niche

Dunno why she pretended there's no ongoing costs.
They always hide the real outlay in the candle business videos.

Precisely. She doesn’t say where she sells them. How long it took for her to reach 50k. I mean it’s all nice and wish her all the success but there is not an ounce of business reality in there!

I'm not sure if having no employees will be good in the long term. I fully agree that you should try to be familiar and proficient in many aspects of your business. However, once you focus on growing your business. You will need to start hiring people.

@ArianaBerkeley nah, not true. The marketing coat more than £200 so there's no way you made that just by investing £200
