- A brief tour of my Ford Transit camera van.
Side note: one of my plugins in my audio processing chain was somehow disabled, so there is slight distortion in the talking head portions. Boo.
Check out these other great van builds!

Other people may lust after a new camera. I lust after old cargo vans.
I have outgrown my Suburban and have been researching sprinter van grip builds. Thank you for sharing 🙏👍🏻
Damn that van is organized. Nice work Rob! LOVE the ramp.
I live in Vegas too and have been doing video productions for over 10 years. I've been using my Jeep Wrangler to haul everything but I've been wanting to switch to a cargo van for quite a while that can still fit in the garage in case HOA has issues with a big cargo van. This is great to see. Most definitely love the organization and the ramp is probably my favorite feature of your production van.
The filmmaking content on CZcams right here!
Clever idea to mount the e track on the shelves, really nice work!
Cool video, thanks for sharing your killer van build!
great video. I appreciate you sharing your experience and upgrades!
Dude.. Love it! Congrats on the upgrade.
2:28 am watching this video and loving it. Cool setup
Welcome to the Van World! I don’t know what I would do without mine!
Excellent video for me. Planning a low roof van build. Thanks
I love this! I got a ford transit connect for my production company and seeing what you did here is very helpful
Even though I went with the full size Transit, I LOVE the Connect. It's compact with plenty of space. A buddy of mine just purchased his own and will start kitting it out soon!
Well thought out and executed love the van and thanks for sharing!
This is a well thought out van.
Great video! And since my own van build was delayed (thank you COVID-19 and a fully booked paint shop) I got to see this and get even more inspiration and ideas. (BTW the ramp seems like pure gold 🤩)
Dude I have been waiting for this video for so long! Been wanting to build my own van for a while now, and seeing your take on it was great. Thanks for sharing and i'll share my build once it happens!
It always helps seeing other builds. I look forward to seeing yours!!
Amazing, love how well thought out you've had everything done! - If possible it would be interesting to see a tour of your garage and overall equipment storage as well, can see it in the background at 08:16 and it looks so good! 🔥 I also recently signed up to your Patreon and the longform BTS content is perfect.
Dude such a sick setup! We need some hampers now. Thanks for the ambo love
Yeah i just brought my vsn yesterday snd see a uline might be an asset
This is amazing, Very detailed and brilliant adeas...
This is awesome! Well done, man.
2 years later, anytime you wish you had a mid roof vs low? I just got a low and love it, but seeing guys with stands mounted smart in the mid get me jealous haha.
I think about getting a high roof all the time but then I remember that I can still fit int 95% of parking garages here in Vegas. It's still working for me given my situation, but if you don't ever have to deal with parking garages... go high roof.
Way to go man! Keep killing it
I never knew I would actually end up enjoying watching a video about a van and .... here we are.
Awesome job!! Love it!!!
excellent layout!
Dude this is incredible!! I am drooling at that amount of gear! I Hope to get me a gear van one day!!
awesome build!
Thanks for the amazing video! Super informative!
Excellent tips my friend! Gracias
About time!! Haha So hype to see this.
when you're doing so well you need a van 👏👏👏
bruh that intro, a camera nerds car commercials 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 epic setup
Good stuff!
excelente video, thank you for making it! gave me a lot of ideas!
Been waiting for this one!
This video is great man!
Thanks for an interesting breakdown! Threefold sent me here and I like looking at all those great logistical solutions I might afford (and have enough gear to justify) some day :)
Excellent !
Great one!
Thank you. Considering a ford transit for production sound.
Bro such a clean build! Great job Rob!
Thanks, Griffin! Much appreciated!
i was just debating between the escalade truck and I'm thinking we need a damn van. but I'm thinking van conversion, need a futon and a space to sit and dump footage and get on a laptop and then I think that's all we need. just subbed man good stuff.
super cool!
This is so sick.
also I want a link to that seat cushion!
wow what a nice camera van love you robert machado love from india
Been considering a Transit Connect Cargo...but you got me thinking. haha
I was just talking about this with my friend who owns a Connect. Eventually, you'll always need something bigger so I'm glad I went with the full size Transit.
Dream Van
Thank you!
You obviously have paid your dues with hardwork and dedication. Any advice in regards to marketing your craft and getting consistent work? Big fan of your work. BTW. 🤙
Love this 🔥🔥🔥
100% used to carry way to much stuff in my AC kit now with the van I keep the accessory bags, extra cables “the junk in the makeup bags” that you always need in a pinch but often just occasionally enough that it can live in the van
Yes!! Then get frustrated the ONE time you leave them at home when you need it.
@@robchado I can’t tell you how much of a legend I seem to dop’s when I have a little case full of 1/4 20 tripod plate screws at the ready.
this is awesome
Very interesting! 👍🏻🤩
Game changer
Love this Rob! Cool to see how different people manage their gear. Maybe I should customize the back of my car to fit all my gear and make a video about it haha!
I’m doing it to one of my trucks.
Sweet!
FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC video Robert! Thank you for the full tour, your thought processes and your choices on gear and parts. Super informative! Are you based in Vegas? I'm in Flagstaff- I will reach out to you to potentially hire you! Cheers, from and old Film guy.
I’m a career photographer/videographer as well and I’ve really been considering a van like this. I wouldn’t need it outfitted like you have it here as most of my jobs aren’t as large but man it’d be great to not load/unload in my Tacoma bed anymore.
It's a game-changer! And I don't use that term often.
Gosh, your camera cart more expensive than my 3 month profits 🙏👍🏻
Love it
Wowza!
Too good 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Hey Robert! I love your channel man I’ve learned so much from you. Do you work for a production company? If you don’t where and how do you usually find your work or how did you when you first started?
Hi, excellent video! Where did you get the center console?
Looking real good man, what’s the hight of your van? Would love to see if the c stand option works for me
Legend 🔥
Time to put this puppy to work on more Webtoon content 👀
i guess it is quite off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Dominic Thiago Flixportal :D
@Rey Benedict thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it !
@Dominic Thiago glad I could help :)
Hey dude! Currently doing a build of my own and I'm really digging your shelves over the options I'm finding online. Would you mind sharing a link for those? Thanks!
Amazing! How you installed the shelfs?
threefold sent me here :)
Great van and great ramp Robert. Well done! We have a roll up ramp for our Sprinter and I looked at the National Fleet style. How do you like it?
I love it! No maintenance and easy to deploy! Takes up very little space in the cargo area too.
You’ve inspired me to go with similar setup!Currently use the cart method, but hate breaking everything down after in current truck. Few questions:
1.Do you use the ramp swivel mechanism a lot? Was thinking I can get away with just their non-swivel light ramp version.
2.Shelves Make/Model?
3. Anything you would do differently? Im most likely going with the Promaster but should end up with something like your setup.
I do use the swivel feature a lot. When things are loaded towards the back, it makes more sense to unload from the rear and the swivel makes it really easy to access. The shelves are the adjustable version from Adrian Steel. Other than not being a high roof, I'm pretty happy with how the build turned out. However, I'm able to fit in nearly all garages which instantly makes up for it.
My back hurts watching this.
other CZcamsrs: check out my gear bag
Rob: check out my gear van!
this setup is 🔥🔥🔥
you have the link for the laundry cart reused instead of the link for the floor.
What’s the ballpark estimate for your van build? Would love to give it a copycat! Excellent job!
Probably around $10k!
why not a trailer ? what are downsides of grip trailers ?
How much did this van cost in total?
Are you happy with the size of your Uline 12 Bushel Hamper or wish you would've gone with the 14 Bushel for a little extra space?
I'm leaning towards the 14 Bushel Vinyl...do you use your Poly hamper more than the Canvas hamper?
Thanks again for the advice!
I use the poly hamper almost exclusively now. I've retired the canvas hampers mostly because they tend to rip when loading grip equipment so the vinyl might be a better option!
Nice! Not sure if I heard the details on purchasing, but did you lease it so you can write it off as a business expense?
I purchased the vehicle it so it's depreciating each year on my return. But if you lease, you can write off as a business expense.
one year later, what are your thoughts? I'm really thinking about buying a van for the same reasons but am struggling to pull the trigger.
It was a game changer, and I rarely ever use that term. Vans seem like the new thing people are getting into and I think it's 100% worth it.
What the price for full day of job?
So is it okay to leave all this gear in the truck outside in the heat in the middle of the summer?
I usually don't leave equipment in the van.
@@robchado at the 2 minute mark you begin talking about everything that you normally leave in the van. I don't mean actual electronic equipment or batteries. I'm more curious about potential heat damage of stuff that's not utilized all the time such as hdmi cables or sdi cables.
Where did you purchase the center console?
www.adriansteel.com/products/details/TDC6
@@robchado Much appreciated! I'm trying to mimic your van build and this vid has been helpful. Any updates or tips you've learned are also welcomed! Still love your ramp?
And of course don't for get the Baby Yoda. :)
what's your favorite make up bag?
CRDBAGs have replaced all those makeup bags. I used to use. bit.ly/3N6PxAC
imagine buying a new car just because of your lighting
Sounds like a pretty solid reason to me 😂
Any security for breakins?
Not yet. I've been thinking about putting a Viper system in, which I might do soon.
I also unload and store gear after every job which is why I haven't looked into a security system yet. The most expensive item that lives in the van is probably my ND crate.
Thanks for the reply
Dammit now I need a van 🙄
I saw a chick-fil-a delivery van and apparently the lords chicken sandwiches use rams.. thoughts?
But on the real you’ve got me looking at vans since we talked about it 😰
🙏🌹🇮🇳 PSSPPP🇮🇳 PALOJU JAI SRIRAM 🇮🇳🌹🙏
get a cage on the van.
The only white van I wouldn't mind being kidnapped by
that looks very uncomfortable really to unload and load the van.
