Wait, are you trying to tell me that the other shakshuka you made wasn't for one person? *burp*
This comment made my day 😂
I honestly had this exact same though. Kudos to you friend.
I've always finished it on my own😂
And I was so confused.
Any amount of Shakshuka is for one if you listen to your intrusive thoughts.
I too made his original for myself. Fortunately, belching is considered polite in many cultures where this dish is popular. Boy was I polite!
For my fellow lazy gourmands; you can semi-meal prep this by making the sauce ahead of time. Then each morning, just out some in a pan with some eggs and a splash of water, cook til done and cover with cheese and herbs, etc.
@shaunhall284 what?
Jarred sauce works well too! I'm partial to garlicky ones myself, since I can cheat in some extra flavor without getting my hands and knife sticky or dirtying a press 😂
That’s what I do! I love Shakshuka
@@shaunhall284 What in Sam Hell is medical jelp
Use real or canned tomatoes, and it will be much better and more authentic.
Chef John, thank you. As a widower who has been alone for the past six years it is so nice to see a recipe for “one!” There are so few out there. I made this Shashuka this morning and it was fabulous.
Howdy! Highly recommend America's Test Kitchen "Cooking for One" cookbook!😊🍲
I used to have to cook for a football team LOL but it's just me now and it's hard to cook for one person. Leftovers leftovers leftovers
Your old Shakshuka video was my introduction to this channel and I still use and adapt that recipe all the time. Such a delicious and versatile dish.
I like to add turnips to mine. 🤤
yea for me too i made one only for me with 8 egs :)) that was crazy good, anyway i had for next day too but it was very good
His old Shakshuka video was my introduction too.
Oh my god, same!! I always add kidney beans to the sauce to make it more nutritious (chickpeas would probably be more region-appropriate but I just don't like it as much) and top it with fresh basil whenever I have it, or maybe sage. Should definitely try this recipe out though, it looks delicious
Its a fine way to use up all the veggie bits you have in the fridge...the ones too big to throw out, too small to keep, and too few for a stock.
The return of the freakishly small wooden spoon!! :)
I saw it, I saw it ! Going round the outside, round the outside...
I need one to go with my tiny whisk :-)
@@shaunhall284 sorry Shaun there's history here you don't know.
@@lindainparis7349 hes a troll, hes all over these videos
Yay! The spoon! :D
I was happy to see the return of the prodigal freakishly small spoon. We've missed you!
@@shaunhall284Get over yourself.
Cooking for one is not lazy, some of us are just one person, love this!!!!
I totally agree. There should be more attention for those one person households.
Other food channels include the sounds of the kitchen to create an ASMR effect, but Food Wishes viewers have Chef John's voice for that.
No, can’t stand the pronouncement
@@kingjsolomon That doesn't mean what you think it means.
This might be the best thing to have when you want breakfast for dinner.
yes!
Yeah, I don't think I can eat this much sauce for breakfast. But would be great for dinner.
The freakishly small wooden spoon is BACK!!! WOOHOO!
I was looking for this comment!
Let's be honest, this is just an excuse for Chef John to say Shakshuka!!! But I'm here for it!
I love this recipe/dish, really good. If I need it to go further, it's really good over rice too!
It’s crazy to think how long I’ve been watching your videos for.
My food wishes came true
I actually last week did a TexMex version of this with some leftover Texas Red chili and an egg topped with queso blanco.
Thanks for all you do. Many years of great recipes, bad puns, and the signature "Enjoy" have made this vlog a part of my world and expanded my culinary repertoire and knowledge. I now cook with cayenne. I hope you enjoy doing this for many years to come!
I completely agree Chef, a slightly runny yolk with bread is best!!
The only thing missing from this recipe is a second egg. I like eggs.
Me, too. And there's definitely room in that pan for at least one more...
exactly what I was thinking...who eats just ONE egg? ;)

Remember that chick from the Amanda Show?
Oh CJ, a tear came to my eye
Seeing freakishly small wooden spoon stirring by.
You must try it with toasted slices of leftover polenta. It's much tastier than bread.
I do something like this with salsa and I usually add potatoes. so good.
THE RETURN OF THE FREAKISHLY SMALL WOODEN SPOON
The return of a freakishly small wooden spoon is much appreciated, my friend!
More Middle Eastern recipes please.❤
Yes! The seasonings of the Middle East and North Africa are a wonderful change of pace from our usual European flavors.
There no much mushrooms in the middle east. But put in whatever you want
The return of the Freakishly Small Wooden Spooooon!
My mouth is watering. I love a bit of harissa in the mix. 😊
Me, too!
This morning I had shakshuka for the first time at Beatrix in Chicago. C'est magnifique!
Shakshuka, musubi, and Banh mi are the most underapreciated foods in the world.
Shakshouka is a wonderful dish. Highly recommended.
I made this for my daughter and myself when she was staying with me recently, and I can tell you, they were absolutely delicious!!! I made two variations to the recipe because I didn’t have the ingredients in the fridge. First, we used a little dollop of sour cream under the eggs and I used crumbled goat cheese on top instead of feta. Also, rather than cooking the eggs in the fry pan, I simply poached them and set them in the depression. I can’t wait to make them again, they were wonderful.
OOH... I can't wait to try this! Thanks!
Such great instruction. If I had been a student in one of his classes, I would have learned so much. I am just a home cook. My wife (loves peppers) will love this dish.
This is very thoughtful of you, chef. Thank you.
I love ALL your recipes and I LOVE your presentations!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I am here because of Internet Comment Etiquette - new sub :) love your narration
Cowboy Chef, Kent Rollins would have something to say about using tomato sauce in a cast iron skillet.
Agreed
If you have a well seasoned cast iron, it shouldn't harm it. Just be sure to clean immediately after use as always.
Always love the mellow wholesome energy Chef John brings to his videos 👍
Never heard of Shakshuka before I stumbled upon your first video (now 8 years ago). My favorite breakfast since then....Thanks!
Thank you for making a recipe for one, Chef John. Hubby and I have very different tastes and I know he'd never eat this but now I can make it and not have leftovers.
I LOVE this dish! Looooooove! I will be trying this version for sure!
Shakshuka is delicious anytime of day ! 😋
I have eaten this quite a few times, but I hesitated making it at home because I've only ever seen it made in a larger scale, and critically I know I could have scaled it down super easy, but now I actually have the perfect tomato product to make this with that I received as a simple Valentine's day gift from my wife, a bottle of Mutti tomato puree! This will be on for Sunday morning!! Mmmmm!! Thanks for putting this out there Chef!!
The return of one my top 5 favorite Chef John recipes
Thanks for that Chef John...always wanted to try Shakshuka...
the return! of the freakishly small spoon!!! its about time
The next best thing to eating shakshuka is saying shakshuka.
I love these recipes because I can try something new and it won't be over complicated.
Yay! Recipes for the single folks!❤
I want this NOW!
Joe from Germany
This looks delicious! I’m definitely going to make this. I might add some ham or bacon to the sauce.
Shakshuka for one, this sounds like an indie film about the last survivor of a planet wide natural disaster.
Or maybe the breakfast of the worst valentines day ever.
You're a hero Chef John. Love your work
for me shakshuka is perfect breakfast, lunch and dinner dish. it is so versatile, you can have a different flavour each time😋
I made this so many times I college for myself and friends, I feel nostalgic! Thank you for being amazing Chef John!
The best part of shakshuka is saying it!
Two eggs are always better than one! Thanks! Definitely will try
Shakshuka is one of my favorite meals to make my family (especially as a weekend brunch), and it's one of the few meals I can count on my kids being willing to eat without question.
Literally salivating while watching this. I've somehow never run into this channel before. I like style... and the chuckles.
I've been doing this with leftover spaghetti sauce since your first shakshuka vid. it's a fantastic breakfast
Yes, I would rather have some of this than Capt. Crunch for breakie. Nicely done Chef John!
Haven’t watched one of your videos in a minute but I’m confident after this one your still
Helping keep the cayenne business strong.
Amazing! Thank you
This looks really good! Will do this!
I love any "for one" recipe. Even though I don't live alone my family is not adventurous and would not try anything with a name they aren't familiar with.
Shakshuka is as enjoyable to say as it is to eat.
I knew that. I was just flirting with a great cook. Give your wife a big hug for me 😹
I have enjoyed your cooking for many many years & enjoy your voice & gentleness with herbs 🪴 Blessings to you both 💞
Chef John looked into my fridge and soul this afternoon and said "I got you."
Looking forwards to this! ❤
I followed this video and made Shakshuka this morning… Served it on two pieces of toast and my family loved it!
I’m having this for breakfast in the morning. I’ve got 5 small cast iron skillets that need attention and 5 hungry bellies that can give em what they need.
I love this channel I love these videos!!!❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite dish of all time. Thanks chef John.
Excellent. I'll look forward to this
Looks simple and tasty, making two of these for brunch tomorrow. Thanks Chef John!
Just made it. Easy and delicious
Thank you for this recipe, we are a couple but my husband doesn’t like to try new stuff, it perfect for me, please have more recipe not family size😅
best Sunday dish for me. thanks so much for sharing. I agree . bread is must to enjoy this
Wow, you read my mind. Thanks dad, love you.
I love Sacksucka but I serve it on top of soft polenta and use pita bread man what a way to start the day
Shakshuka com polenta?
I've been eating this all my life, respect for a decent recipe all and all 👏
I love your menus aka dishes
One of the greatest foods in the world..
The most performed Enjoy ever in this one, a real treat.
Beautiful, I usually swap the mushrooms for chickpeas but shakshuka is a perfect light meal that satisfies. Definitely going in the rotation
This made me remember that your shakshuka video is the reason I add a blend of cumin, paprika, tumeric, and black pepper to so many things. Now I'm literally subscribed to turmeric deliveries on Amazon (in addition to being subscribed to your channel, obviously). Also, I tell people that shakshuka is my best dish and that I learned it from you.
This was my go-to breakfast when I was in college. Cheap and delicious!
Boy o boy that looks delicious, I've made this a couple of times and it's so good, cheap, quick. It's a 10.
I just had some Welsh Rabbit for one for supper, now thinking about Shakshuska for breakfast… I will give this a try! Thanks, Chef John. 🥰👍👍
Looks good
Looks awesome
The original shakshuka video has become a staple in my house for dinners at least two to three times a month.
Excellent.
Love your small spoon.
You tore through that at the end! ❤️
the freakishly small wooden spoon is back!!! HOORAY!

This is wonderful, I look forward anymore one dish recipes you will make 😊😋
Yummy yummy recipes 😋♥️♥️♥️.
I have been growing Anaheim peppers for 4 years and they are the greatest for flavour and mild heat.
Jarred pasta sauce also makes a good shakshuka if you want to sneak in some extra flavor. This is in my top 5 brinner options for sure.
Also, if you happen to read this, thanks for the homemade cheese videos. I rarely go through a gallon of milk or a pint of cream fast enough, so turning some of it into ricotta and then putting that in an easy lasagna is really /really/ satisfying.
Yummy.
