I knew once you went with a vented enclosure in a trunk that alone would bring it to life,it helps the pressure flow out and into the cabin.Well done,when I was a teen in the 90s you would have to get Rockford fuasgate and orian to sound like that$$$$$
I have a skar competition setup in one of my trucks and an Amazon skar setup in my daily. The Amazon setup is awesome for being their budget lineup. There's a several thousand watt difference between my setups but it's plenty for a daily.

Just installed this amp and it really works well at 2 and 1 ohm.
All my hardwork of by hand drilling those screws in on that amp. Glad to know you didnt waste that effort lol
I started like you but went with (1) Skar 10” SDR in factory carpeted box & RP800 @1 ohm and was pleased for a good while. I upgraded to Down4Sound’s JP8 “Blue Beast” running at 1 ohm too with Skar’s (1) DDX 10” (DVC2) in factory Skar’s rhino lined ported enclosure and it’s as loud as my 89’ Honda CRX with the Punch 150 and (2) 15” RF subs back then! Some "rusty old pro from the 90s tips": You need to trim that carpet around the sub and then use a gasket. Enough air leaks to impact the sound. Facing a sub backwards masks distortion/clipping which could lead to speaker damage. Subwoofer distortion usually needs to hit about 20% total harmonic before the human ear can detect it. Clipping can cause damage by trying to instantly stop the speaker at the point of clip instead of the smooth transition in direction like you see in the waves on a scope. I might buy one of these. Ive been missing low end since I bought my car, and now that its old and paid for.... :)
I did kinda question the gasketing thing... I might give that a shot. I see a lot of guys using putty to do that against raw MDF.

I threw a blaupunkt all-in-one sub under the passenger seat of my insight, needed to raise the rear of the seat slightly, but you can find one that doesn’t need it. Then, just some regular 6.5s in the doors, and added behind the seats in the stock holes. It honestly sounds great for a cheap setup, and now I have the cargo bin back, which was previously taken up by a custom (heavy af) sub enclosure that came with the car 🤷♂️

Its not a subsonic filter, subsonic is just lower than the speed of sound. Its an infrasonic filter, infrasonic waves are sound waves that are lower in frequency than what humans can hear.
I never head issues mounting the amp to the sub. The only difference is that I mounted a VIBE FastPlug quick disconnect for the power and audio. It takes up less space and is real easy to remove.
Putting holes in your box is bad. The vibration can shorting the life of the amp.
I'd prefer to not have my amp mounted directly to the box where the vibration is transferred in that manner.
I had my amp mounted to my box in my daily driver for 5 plus yrs. System hit 156 plus dB. I got a ticket once for rattling a cops windshield. Never had a problem with rattling the amp that is just a myth. So don't worry about it
@@mattm2684 it's true that most amps use surface mount of the boards and have some form of isolator on them I'm sure. I don't want my anp mounted to my box because then a thief gets my amp, sub and box in one go if they decide to steal it. Crackhead are everywhere lol

Wire furrels are your best friend for cables in amplifier, i just done mine..
The way you put your finger to protect the surround when screwing in the sun I can tell you've punctured a surround before. We've all learned that lesson the hard way.
Not me personally, but I've heard of it happening enough to not want to take chances.

I have that same box but I ported it with a BIG ASS AREO PORT 6 INCH the sub of my choice is a X-15 with the REAL HIGH XMAX I am experiencing super low end bass tune to 26hz I would recommend doing so if your sub is high excursion sub
I got two from Amazon and they absolutely pound compared to my older 250 watt alpines
There's nothing inherently wrong about providing a sub with less power than it's rated for. Just wanted to clarify that. In fact it's probably best for making sure you don't blow the sub.
I have always under power my subs by 10-15 percent .. I have never had one blow out on me and they always have sounded really good...
How they sound to you seriously in your ride
The only down fall to under powering subs is if you give them full power in the future they may blow at less power than rated because they where under powdered
If you don’t clip the sub and the amp is tuned properly doesn’t matter what size amp you go with you could put a 10,000 watt amp on it and with the right tuning you will never blow the sub bub
I will say I am and have always been a fan of component systems but the problem is fitting the mid range and tweeters with the crossover unit and then bolting 2 subs to an acoustic shelf (MDF). But once you fit it the clarity is amazing you tend to hear it as clear as a full range test disk wants it to be, one problem is if you have a teen who wants so blow out the rear screen then you have to bridge the amp and well!!!!!!!!!!!

What was that porch? Did you do this work outside an old timey saloon? I’m sure you neighbors love your new sub woofer. I know I love the kid up the street when he comes home at 1am and wakes up the whole neighborhood with his headers and subwoofer set up. Especially on a work night.

Hey I have the same setup and was wondering what was your tune for the amp?
You should know that wiring your sub down to one ohm would get you the full 800 W out of that amp if your subs are wired to two ohm or four ohm, you’re only going to get half of that power so you should look into wiring the sub down to one ohm because that’s what that amp is rated for. I also have the same set up but 10 inch in my five series BMW And it sounds great if you don’t already have it wired to one ohm 👍🏻
Upgrade your speaker to the DDX or EVL series and get a SKAR amplifier that has RP-1200.1D to RP-1500.1D watts and you will be happy 😃

I am trying to put a pioneer 6.8 receiver from bestbuy and two 8" subwoofers sdr series with a 1,400 watt amp package in my 2004 cadillac escalade ext.
You have to run the wire on the sub positive to positive on one side and negative to negative on on the other that’s the wire from the box to the sub do that and it’d be way better
what settings do you use on the amp for this setup

I run a skar audio rp1500 on an American bass xfl1222 and I'm hitting 145s In my Corolla lol
Friendly advice set ur gain to 12 or 1 o'clock ur xover to 50 and take advantage of the bass knob you'll enjoy it
Set your lpf to 60 to 80hz max and the subsonic put that at the 12 o'clock position

Sdr subwoofers are not good. Get a 12" Soundqubed subwoofer O yeah. Now if you like Skar Audio get a 12" Skar VFL and put it in that nice box to match.

I had the older package deal with VVXv3 and the RP800.1 and it was very good for the money. If I was to go with Skar again I would probably do the SK line on a single SVR. I have a DD audio 712 and DM1000.1 now and kinda think it’s overpriced…

@@559Obsalex personally I keep it off. It can introduce clipping really quick and that’s what blows subs. Bass eq is there name for bass boost and will raise a whatever frequency it’s set at. So if it’s set for 40 hz it will boost 40 hz and maybe some higher or lower. The only reason I could think I would use it is maybe if the sub was in a sealed box and you was getting no lower end.

Tuned to 45hz? To my understanding, there is no tuning on sealed boxes.

after spending around $2000 or more I now realize even good subwoofers are quiet in the trunk of a bmw. Reason why is because the trunk is completely sealed off from the cabin, not even a way to fold my seats down. What a waste of time and money. I will probably have to buy a cheap hatchback car just to do the system justice.

Low notes don't damage hearing. High frequencies and distorted sound will though.

Depends heavily on the artist. Most of it is pretty light on the bass and the sub doesn’t add much. Other stuff like White Wedding pt1, on the other hand, absolutely pounds.
