- The ten-pronged song was written for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Agricultural Society (founded in 1819 by Archduke Johann) on October 16, 1844. On June 15, 1904, this song was heard when Otto Nußbaumer commissioned his first wireless radio test facility at Graz University of Technology. On 3 July 1929, the stanzas 1, 2, 3 and 10 were declared by the Landtag to the Styrian national anthem.

Something Austrian for the evening, sadly I have never visited the beautiful Steiermark yet.
Lebe zwar in der Steiermark, hab die Bundeshymmne aber noch nie gehört. Ich wusste nicht mal dass die einzelnen Bundesländer eigene Hymnen haben.

Well greetings from our "culturally enriched" Graz. Maybe carinthian anthem next?
These towns have proper character; they aren't the endless, unimaginative postmodern glass and steel orphic monoliths one drives through every day. You can smell the bakery shop at the corner and see the green tops of the hills in the distance from your window. You can sense the natural warmth of light the old colored buildings and their Germanic expressions, giving the whole scene a Romanticism as the sun shines over it.
If only modern architects would understand that again.
@@dr.ludwig They do understand it. It's just that warmth, character, and humanity are the opposite of what they are trying to achieve.
Tbf this is the historical old town (Altstadt) of Graz, which is indeed a jewel, but north, south, west and east it is also has - like any city today - post-war concrete buildings and said postmodern buildings, which have no beauty and no soul. Google "Graz Kunsthaus" or "Graz Art Museum" and you will see what abhorent monstrosity they build within the (still old) new city.

Graz die Geburtsstadt meiner Mutter, sie hat zu DDR Zeiten immer geschwärmt wie schön ihre/unsere Heimat ist, leide durfte ich sie damals nicht sehen sondern wurde weil ich es versucht habe zu sehen für Jahre ins Jugendgefängnis eingewiesen.

My mother comes from Untersteiermark (Lower Styira)
This land was German for 1000 years, even most of our people had German as their first language... After WW1, war criminals in Belgrade came to our land and stole it. This is how Yugoslavia was created... They killed or expelled thousands of Germans. Life in Yugoslavia was so horrible, that people in Lower Styria needed to change their German surnames to Slavic ones... For example "Heindler" became "Hajndler" or "Fritz" became "Fric"
Everything that was German was hated in Yugoslavia, even if our Styrian people always had German origin and German culture, German mentality, German surnames... After WW1 every Styrian, Krainer or Carinthian that described himself as German was sent to prison, expelled or even killed...
Our northern brothers then liberated us in april 1941 and we were allowed to speak language of our ancestors again 🇩🇪
I am proud to be Styrian and i am proud of German origin of my ancestors. Slovenes, Germans and Austrians always had same Alp culture. Even our traditional dresses and traditional music are of same origin. This explains a lot that we share same German roots ❤️🇩🇪🇦🇹🇸🇮🇨🇭🇨🇿🇱🇺❤️

The "Wendenland" mentioned in the 3rd verse ("Unto the Wendenland, at Sava's riverbed") should be better translated as "The Land of the Slovenes" ...

@Fabian Kirchgessner Because It's an interesting historical period. I am not a Nazi by all means but I am fascinated with this time period thus with music afflicted by it. National Socialist songs may promote racism, fascism etc. that's why they are hard to find anyhow they are still good-sounding. It's like with Soviet songs, but Nazi ones are banned; they may offend someone or not, but they aren't promoted as hate speech while some clearly attack certain groups of people (Like Bourgeois). These songs are a part of history, if we do not know our history we're bound to repeat it.
@Klaus Holoper Weiss nicht, ob das maßgebend ist: als kleines Kind mit 6 Jahren( heute 78), sang ich laut auf der Strasse in unserem kleinen Ort Lieder, die auf dem damaligen Index standen und total verboten waren, zum Schrecken meiner Eltern( die es mir aber beigebracht hatten, aber natürlich nur für zuhause)
1. Ein junges Volk steht auf, zum Sturm bereit...
2. Auf hebt unsre Fahnen, in den frischen Morgenwind....
3. Es zittern die morschen Knochen, der Welt noch vorm grossen Krieg...
Ich verstand den Text damals nicht, aber die Musik faszinierte mich. Und sie fasziniert mich auch noch heute. Sollen die Leute sagen, was sie wollen.
