  • Hey All!
    I just wanted to do a quick update to say that it can be remarkably freeing to let go of spiritual tools ( or anything, really!) that are not being used. This was the case for me, and in this video I just talk a little about my decision to let go of a good portion of my Tarot decks ( as well as oracle decks, crystals, and books) as I stop the journey of mindless consuming that I have been on for quite a while.
    Thank you for watching!
    Much love & light,
    Denise

    I stumbled across your channel just as I was feeling overwhelmed with so many tarot decks that I am accumulating. lol Maybe there are many more of us feeling the same way. I feel I get a buzz when I am feeling low or stressed to buy....I do try not to overdo but it can be an automatic pilot type of thing. Good luck with your goals. I hope it frees you up on many levels.

    I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I am very much the same way! I don't have quite as many decks as you; my magic number, I realized, is around 20. Beyond 20 decks, there will always be some that I just never use. I have a deck tracker that helps me monitor whether I'm using my decks.
    I was able to sell some of my decks last year, but this year, I started steadily giving them away through giveaways on my Instagram account. They bring others joy, the decks are being used, I don't feel guilty for not using them, and that's what makes everyone happy. I am now much more discriminating with what I buy. If I want a deck, I will research every card and force myself to wait one full week. If I still want the deck a week later, I will again look at all the cards and buy it if I'm still interested. Most of the time, I don't really want it that much after a week.
    I am currently at 18 decks, and I can say for the first time since I began, I have used every deck I own in the last 30 days! I am also at the point where I have let go of more decks than I own (21), and not once have I regretted letting any of them go. I am lucky in the sense that this problem for me is confined to just tarot decks; I don't have the same issue with oracles decks or tarot books. I only have two oracle decks and four tarot books (if you don't count guidebooks that come with some decks). I live near a used bookstore which allows me to quickly sell books I don't use anymore!
    Best of luck! You've got this :)

      Thank you! I really love the idea of tracking how much I use my decks! I do think giveaways are a great way to spread the tarot love - some of the decks I am letting go are amazing & I would really like to give them to someone that will appreciate them. I have learned that even if a deck is the most awesome thing out there, it doesn't mean I will work well with it :) Thank you so much for watching & commenting, I loved hearing about your journey :)

    Stress is a silent torment ...if it doesn't get taken care of...it will take you down. (Speaking from experience)
    No discrimination. Being aware of what your stressors are is so important.
    You spoke of consumer entanglement..that phrase popped up in a video...I get cranky where I notice that..going into town... you're surrounded by it...at the moment I'm out in the country..so more nature..more realness.
    Step by step...slowly...like the Elephant... consistent... methodical..🐘.💛🙏💛Take care of you.

      Thank you! Yes, I think that slowly is the key :) I am slowly decluttering my stuff, and I think that will definitely help with the mental clutter, as well. No point in getting stressed about getting rid of stress! Thank you so much for watching & for your kind words :)

  • @Chaskita
    @Chaskita Před 5 lety +4

    I have been there too. It's a process. Getting rid of things is freeing but the real struggle for me is not to buy, especially when I am stressed as I tend to succomb more easily to the tentation as a coping mechanism. Learning to value and be greatful for what we already have is the key. I understand so well the feeling of having too many decks and not enough time to use them. I'm constantly decluttering my collection in order to only keep the ones that vibe with me, where I am today, and not with who I was or who I thought I should be. I love your channel and unboxing videos too 😉😂

      Thank you! I remember when I only had a few decks - the feeling of bonding with my decks, and actually reading my books! I miss those days. I also tend to buy as a coping mechanism, and that might be why my collection has outgrown me a bit :) Thank you so much for watching :)

    I resonate with everything you said and I think you speak for a great many of us. Interesting that Depth year has made so many of us think. Ive massively reduced buy decks but books not so much as i hope to learn from them and I dont have very many of the interests I now have. I recently took over 10 full bags of books to the charity shop from previous interests so I know what you mean. I am finding Im drawn to channels who are not just doing unboxings but sharing insight and information...I can't wait to see you playing card videos.. much love gx

      I understand about having new interests! I am really a different person now than I was even 5 years ago, so it does seem fitting to clear out things that do not resonate with me any more. Wow - 10 bags of books! It sounds like you must love books as much as I do :) Thank you so much for watching :)

    Being able to buy online really adds to the problem .... before you at least had to leave your house go to the store and then buy... so you’d have time to think it through... now it’s see it want it click buy it....it’s addictive.... but I’ve really tried to get a grip on myself and be a thoughtful consumer as opposed to an impulse consumer....

      Yes, buying online has made things a bit tricky! I am still working to curb my online spending. It seems easier plan shopping trips to the store, but online ordering is where I do most of my impulse shopping. I am also trying to be more thoughtful & intentional with my purchases. Resonated with this! If it’s just the art then all the decks!!! 😬but what do we really use? I think I do suffer from fomo. I really admire your honesty and moving things on. I was without 85% of my tools for 2 months and now we are reunited and I am struggling with being happy and feeling a bit overwhelmed. Purchasing = power does feel like the message a lot. I look forward to your new videos. We gotta do what’s healthy for us. 🙏🏼🌟

      Thank you! I realized that I work with about 20% of the tools that I have, and the rest just sit there. A few books are for reference, but most are just not being used or treasured. It really hit home when I picked up a book that I felt that I bought not that long ago, and realized it had been over 5 years just sitting on a shelf! I have really been inspired to make a change - I agree we really do have to what is healthy for us. I hope you are able to overcome your overwhelm! Thank you for watching :)

    Hi Denise!I sooo agree with you...today's society feels very consumerism driven...I get the feeling that people want us to purchase things all the time as well...and I don't feel that the Tarot/spiritual society is any different!Since I started doing the depth year...although I did get a few more decks and books than I initially thought I would, I feel a lot happier with my acquisitions because I don't jump into purchases and I have actually been using the items I bought. Being more mindful about the things I get, I realized that often my purchases were a result/reaction to an emotional gap. Personally I have a few oracle decks that I should let go of...but at the moment I feel that I struggle with letting go...I guess I need to work on that!

    • @heartsidetarot5827
      @heartsidetarot5827  Před 5 lety +2

      Hello! I am so glad that you are in a place where you are happy with your purchases - I think that being mindful about what we bring into our lives can really make a world of difference! I understand about not wanting to let go - I put off really going through my decks for ages. I would talk about it, put decks aside, and then change my mind, over and over for months. I think I was just working my way up to a place where I felt ready to part with them. And then, all of a sudden, I just knew it was time! I don't think that these things should be rushed, you will know when it is time to move on :) Thank you for watching :)

    i think the key here is quality vs quantity and being mindful 💛✨ i think supporting indie creators and small businesses is great for us, the guilt level drops too because you're actually helping them and being a part of it, highly valued, unlike getting a deck from walmart LOL idek if they sell decks there but you get my point Hahah I rarely go for mass market anymore and when i do ideally It's from a swap or bought used.

    • @heartsidetarot5827
      @heartsidetarot5827  Před 5 lety

      I agree - at first I thought I was just going to reduce my spending this year, and so my logic was that I could buy more mass market decks than indie decks for the same price. But as the year has progressed, what I have realized is that it makes me happier to feel like I am making a difference with my money. Buying indie decks & backing KS decks just makes me feel like I am making more of a difference to someone than buying mass market decks. I think it really is about being mindful of my spending, like you said. Thank you for watching :)

    I really enjoyed this video and can relate. I’ve already passed on a few decks I don’t use. While I still have two previously backed KS decks coming in the next few months, I’ve whittled my deck wishlist down to one oracle deck. Hope that your fatigue and stress improve 💜💙💛

      Thank you! I also have some KS decks coming in! I have decided to use them and see if I work well with them for a bit, and then consider passing them on. I am giving myself permission to let them go without considering the cost of the deck, if it doesn't really work out. Sounds like you have it together - only one oracle deck on your wishlist!?! I'll get there one day :) Thank you for watching :)
