Credit to them for battling back vs Bs but tgat was Domi, Bertuzzi, Edmundson, and finally Willie when he returned. Domi was their best player vs Bs. Edmundson was one of their best "D". What shocks me is this: i have been a HUGE Shanahan fan since his days in Detroit. When Leafs hired him as Pres of Hockey Ops I thought FINALLY the Leafs playoff futility will end. I am shocked that Shanahan has been so blind or unwilling to acknowledge the obvious re: the Leafs "core 4" and their team make-up. That is a real shocker. Shanny, of all people, should know what type of grit is needed and to balance the superstars with grit!!!!! He has failed in his role i feel.
I think Marner will get 10+ from a team who wants to reach the playoffs. What I don't think is any team willing to pay anything for him unless it is an albatross contract.
Tre needs to tell Marner’s dad that he’s not being re-signed. Give us a list of teams you’d be interested in going to for the last year of your contract and maybe you can negotiate an extension with them. Same deal with Tavares, however salary will have to be retained in that case. Neither one of those guys should be a Leaf going forward.

when shanahan was first hired and as long long time leafs fan going back to the harrold ballard days i was so excited i thought finally here is a guy who played in some of the dirties brutal hockey in his era who knows how or what it takes to win a hockey game and what it takes to win the playoffs and the cup. finally a guy who can bring fortitude to this team because of his experience throughout his career. all we get is a dud, while growing in high school and watching hockey night in canada my friends and i looked up to this dude and all the great players in his era who played with grit, heart and passion and you could see it was for the love of the game and you can see it in their eyes and it wasnt about money. unfortunately now its about money. what a shame what a waste. i dont know what outcome this friday' meeting or announcement will bring. I've never found it baffling. Matthew's is around. 8 goals per game, Nylander. 5, marner around. 3 as well Tavares. That's around 1.9 goals per game from the core 4. Who else is paid to score? The teams offense is terribly thin that's shown when against teams that care enough to defend.
I see a lot of similarities with the sens in the 2005/06 season. Great team with a lot of superstars but could never get it done in the playoffs. I hope this is the season Pelley and Treliving take the reigns and start leaning out the roster. Most of the cup winning teams had a core 3 with complimentary players on manageable contracts. I think you can move Marner and get the depth you need to go to the conference finals and beyond. But who knows. I thought Andlauer was going to be different as well but it has been much of the same moves with little results or change. Hoping the leafs can do better I want the revenue shares and also want the battle of ontario to be re-ignited. Also anyone else notice Matthews contract ends when the Coyotes arena is supposed to be built 👀. Anyway cheers boys!

They changed everything several times except the core four and nothing worked. This season they brought in a really good players, but core four failed to deliver in the post season again (except Nylander, but you can add Rielly there, because he makes 7 mil and he was horrible!). So it's not the rest of the team - it's the core four - that's the problem here! They simply can't get it done!

Is Sheldon Keefe hired to score goals? No. Is his responsibility to come up with game plans that work? Yes. Is he responsible for solving the poor power play? Yes. Is he responsible for solving the poor PK? Yes. Is he responsible for ensuring his players are ready? Yes. Is he responsible for doing all of this in the playoffs? Absolutely. Has he? Not even close. To think he should stick around (pun intended) is a mistake and he should've been gone years ago. A new coach will bring in better ideas, possibly ones that will make a huge difference in the play of the Leafs. And, they'll move forward instead of remain stagnant in the first & second rounds (a big step back this year to not get into the 2nd round this year).

Core is self entitled Brats who asked for all that money without truly deserving it, which has screwed the rest of the team. Mathews, Nylander and Marner are the issues. Mathews gets you to the playoffs, and then does nothing once there, EVERY year. Marner has issues between his ears, and his Dad is delusional and filling his head with crap (that he is the BEST on the team). Melander shouldn't have gotten more than 10. Of those 3, Id only keep Nylander, but realistically Marner needs to go. Next year is going to be another playoff disappointment.
