- Eric is back at it reviewing bikes for us! This time we threw him on an Italian bike rather than a Triumph. In this review rides a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone. He refers to Moto Guzzi riders as a "cult following"... We're looking forward to seeing the comments on this statement.
In addition he says the Guzzi was surprisingly stable in the high wind environment. He says he could see himself riding this bike in the local canyons here in Southern California and he recommends interested riders to go; "throw a leg over it" and give it a test ride!
Eric is a loyal customer of ours & he also manages the upcoming Distinguished Gentleman's ride here in Orange County. He is also a local business owner check out his company below!

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle
This review could be etched in stone and put on display at the Guzzi factory in Mandello del Lario, Italy. Thank you for the incredible review and keep on loving your Guzzi!
It's not called a Moto Goozey, it's called a Moto Gutzee.
I have one, fantastic bike! And it is a torque monster and the torque curve is almost flat from 3k to 6,500. I have a V Strom 650XT as well and in real world riding the V7 is faster unless I want to ride the Strom from 7 to 10k all day, which I don't. I have done 1,000 mile trips and the V7 is always my day trip bike choice. And maintenance is super easy as well. And don't forget, the engine configuration allows for a huge and low hung gas tank of 5.5 gallons, since there are no cylinder heads in the way. People that look at the HP spec and disregard this bike are making a huge mistake.
2022 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone that I absolutely Love!! Had a 2019 but needed a quick update!
You are right, it's a bike suitable for commuting, and still comfortable for long rides: comfortable seat, huge gas tank, and a shaft drive. You just need to add some saddle bags.
I just trade my V7II and a new V7 850's coming to my garage.
PS . cute dog.
I agree with you, it’s a bike suitable for town or crossing the country. It is well balanced, not too heavy and not too light. Ok it’s not the fastest but it is enough for most sensible riding. What can you expect from 65bhp. However it goes better than those figures would suggest. As I have a V7 850 Special I speak from experience. It’s not a sports bike for sure but you can use all the power the Guzzi gives, which is a lot of fun. And your Guzzi dog is great.
You are CORRECT sir! The new V7's can double for touring missions with bag(s) and a screen snapped on. It's 5.5 gallon range, new engine, KYB suspension, 4-pot 320mm Brembo, 6 speed gearbox, final drive, massive headlamp beam, seat & rider position make it a stand-out in the genre. Extras that don't get noticed are a beefy fork brace, plug & play 12V electrical connector for the offered USB adapter, passenger pegs that double for alternate rider foot positioning, great fuel economy & easy valve adjusts.
Always had single cylinder bikes and never been interested in twins. Tried some but they always felt heavier, bigger, double the fuel consumption etc.... Until I rode a V7 850. The "presence" of this bike is something else. The presence of that 90° twin engine under your butt. The pulse and especially the sound in idle. I fell in love ever since and I just keep riding this beauty everyday.
On top of everything else, the bike also looks great, has great sound and a lot of historical mojo. I’m definitely interested in testing one out.
Awesome bike. I had a 2021 V7 Centenario. The bike was so much fun to ride. It attracted a lot of attention. Hopefully I will get another in the near future. Sold it because of a family emergency.
I have a V7 850 Special and it is a great allrounder. Recommended. And I like your Guzzi dog.
Thank you for the review and the appreciation of our doggo!
What a great, refreshing review. 👍😎.
You hit all the marks. The mirrors were an issue but adjusted them with a wrench solved the issue. Just need a side compartments and a rear case and it’s ready for the long haul.
The longitudinal engine is an obvious choice when you're running shaft drive. Your typical transverse mounting only works if using a chain or belt drive.
I love seeing reviews filmed in places I know. Looks like you rode right by my work a few times!
We're your local shop then! Have you paid us a visit yet?
@@ocmotorcycle8635 Not yet. I need to drop by and throw a leg over one of these V7's.
We’re open Tuesday - Saturday and have plenty of V7s in stock! Be sure to mention the CZcams channel when you come in!!
Love the lab, got one myself, love the Guzzi ride one myself.
You are living the dream!!!
What a lovely bike!!!! Guzzi's bikes are so amazing!! Thanx for the excellent review 👍 I enjoy very much. It is my favorite for my age and personality (50 years), to have chill and relax rides with class ✌. Do you thing it is beginner friendly?! Thanx and cheers mate ✌
Oh, that's right: I now remember how the OEM exhausts sound.
Funny enough: we got the same helmet as well, with the difference that I went for the stripped Gringo and goggles.
Please note this: cars won't hear the sewing machine sound this bike produces. Loud pipes save lives: I strongly suggest no dB killers from good Agostini slip-ons. They sound glorious and you'll be heard. Sure, some stuck-up folks will roll their eyes looking at you. But they'll hear you.
I also strongly suggest a flyscreen to cover the off-centered clauster, which creates an unequal whirlwind that'll make you angry after a 300km ride. The difference on riding comfort is simply night and day. The Dart Flyscreen I got was very easy to set and install. Mark my words, you want it.
Finally, get rid of these OEM mirrors. They're simply not good. I had to stop every 500km to screw them back. The OEM bar-end mirrors you'll find on the Special Edition are much better and fit any V7. Get some, they are so worth it.
These three mods are must have. Then you can add a remaping if you feel the need to do so. Strap your favourite tail bag on this bad girl and this bike will never, ever, ever disappoint you.
I have a W800 and an Himalayan in the garage as well. This V7 is now my go-to bike, without hesitation. Don't pick the easy Triumph choice: Moto Guzzi will give you as much bike for 2000 $ less, which is about 500 $ less mods included. AND...you'll have a driveshaft. Never will you be bothered by a chain anymore.
From Japan, I have ordered gray one.
A grey one would look awesome. ⭐️👏🏻
…questionable the traverse motor … giddy up… riding a v7 850 special… gorgeous transverse mounted v twin, and it’s a Guzzi what not to love
Thank you for actually pronouncing the name properly.
Thanks for letting us hear the music instead of the bike
Thanks for the feedback we'll be sure to add more bike noises in future videos.
The mirrors are fine, once the brake & clutch levers are positioned correctly, same for the headlamp.
Sorry, only 2-minutes in, but... "misunderstood"? This engine layout (transverse CYLINDERS in a longitudinal engine) with cylinders in a V-shape for an air-cooled engine obviously puts them directly in the air flow, unlike longitudinal cylinders in a transverse-crank engine, i.e., the typical air-cooled V-twin - with overheating rear cylinder. Plus, the longitudinal crank aligns perfectly with a drive shaft. 'All pretty easy to understand and sensible.
Would it fit a 6.2 tall and 265 pounds heavy rider?
Absolutely! Eric (the man conducting the review) is about that height and probably in the 200-220 weight range.
@@ocmotorcycle8635 thanks
Why is it 'misunderstood'? Because so many people have preconceived notional nonsense about it. Like the various notions you had yourself about it. You could just wait for a test 'drive'. BTW, it's not Goo-zee, it's Goot-zee. Like Pizza!
Funny how you talk about this guzzi while behind you there's a red hot mamma that we can't keep our eyes from her ....MV ?
I saw that too. Looks like a Brutale or similar.
That is correct! Go follow our Instagram or Facebook pages to see more images & videos of red hot mamma & more MVs! @ocmotorcycle
Easy to pronounce it, just remember pizza 🍕. Guzzi ! :)
That's the simplest way of doing it!
Transverse? It’s actually in-line, think about it, think about a V8 vs a MINI, it’s about the crank. Easier to run a shaft drive with an in-line crank, BMW boxers agree. Guzzi’s don’t make sense, which is why they make sense.
What type of dog is it :)
Chocolate lab!
Who’s going to tell him he’s pronouncing his dog’s name wrong?
Why the dog? I mean: why is this mammal distracting in the whole scene? Whats the deal? Is it a gimmick? Does it upgrate the image? What the hell is going on?
It's called "Guzzi" maybe? p.s. I don't like choke collars on dogs.
Please learn how to pronounce the name of the machine you’re presenting. It’s review 101!
Everything else you said passed me by.
