    LOVE this move! Started doing it about a two years ago and went from a 13 handicap to a 5.8. Took my daughter out to the range the other day and made sure she did the rev move. She started hitting draws immediately. One of the best tips ever.

    Incredible video and a game-changing tip! The knuckle-curling technique is something I've never considered, but your explanation makes so much sense. I've been struggling with high right shots too, and your detailed breakdown gives me hope and a clear direction for my practice. Thank you for sharing this valuable insight, and for the practical drills-I'm excited to start implementing this in my game!

    I'm a left handed golfer with an interlocking, neutral, grip. The "rev" move for my right hand through impact has made my ball-striking crisper and on-target! GREAT tip!

    Forget the motorcycle bit. It’s flexion or extension. I thought it was revving a motorcycle as well except with the left hand. But I am not a motorcycle rider and it may be that you rotate the handle toward you; which is extension. Most teachers call it bowing the wrist, which is flexion. If you cup the left wrist a bit off the ball (club face facing the ball longer), it stops the rolling of the left hand and club moving too far to the inside (and then coming over the top and too steep on the downswing). Extend the wrist and go straight back and then flex the L wrist at the top and all the way through the strike. Watch a slo mo of Dustin Johnson or Hogan they don’t release that L wrist flexion until way after impact. DJ looks almost like he never releases it

    I literally cut 11 strokes (playing 9 Holes) by doing this same thing, from one weekend to another. Sure, I had a pretty bad week for comparison but still ...
    I'm dying to play this weekend to see how I do.

    Great vid! Grats on 100k!! Any advice when doing this to stop to much ulnar deviation which causes the club to dump under and release to early? Thanks!

    Okay I was skeptical at first but after watching this I started hitting balls into my net and was like, wow, this feels good. Best contact I've made this year. I will use the launch monitor this afternoon to see my dispersion

    I can attest that this work's if you don't have a strong lefthand grip. I discovered this a few rounds ago. After shooting a 48 on the front, I starting tinkering with a bowed left wrist on the back. Shot 40 with a long straight penatrating ball flight. I tried this because of seeing Jon Rahm at the Masters. He has a bowed left wrist.

    I have the same tendency when it comes to losing flexion on the downswing and a slightly weaker grip, but I am pretty adept at correcting with forearm rotation to produce draws as a stock shot, but since that's VERY dependent on timing I also started experimenting (as of last week only!) with the conscious 'knuckles down' as Hackmotion calls it. Very hard to be honest, it tends to produce massive hooks for me. UNLESS I (think I) manage to keep my forearms in check (aka the flipping), control the low point well enough, 2 out of 40 balls had a crazy compressed flight and extra distance. That's 38 balls following the path like at 3:20. Could not put my finger on it yet for feels on the 2 great ones.
    So I understand the endgame, but it'll be a long journey. PS: If I exaggerate the knuckles down and I accidentally hit turf first, it really stings, feels like I am on my way to a massive wrist injury if I am not careful. That kind of holds me back now. Does that make sense?

    Some Great Comments on here. I find it impossible to use a strong grip. A weak to neutral grip for me. Very soft hands at address. I keep the holding a tray feeling with my right wrist as long as I can in the downswing. I turn back to the ball very fast and never feel as though I’m pulling or dropping my arms. I let my body do that. My arms and hands are very relaxed. It’s so simple. I used to pull my arms down or in and got infuriating pulled hooks. I must add that I used to have a slight cup of the left wrist at the top and once I stopped that it became a different game. We’re all different but you have to find what works for you. We’re all built and wired differently 👍

  • @mikemoodie
    @mikemoodie Před měsícem +2

    It's not quite that simple. You also need to swing from the inside, and get your weight forward. If you don't, massive pull hooks will result with this move. I've been fighting the left-hand side of the course, ever since I learned this as a kid.

      Exactly what I was thinking he obviously doesn’t ride a motorbike . Great analogy but it’s slamming the throttle shut not reving 😂😂

    • @shiftymeister
      @shiftymeister Před 25 dny +1

      I don‘t like this analogy but I guess it works if you twist your right hand like revving a motorcycle and use that on a golf club (for a right handed golfer that
      Is). Turning your hand that way (revving the engine) closes the face.

    • @fooltimedaddy
      @fooltimedaddy Před 23 dny

    • @dumbdumbfakefake4233
      @dumbdumbfakefake4233 Před 19 dny

      squash - He has it right for right handers. “Turn the knuckles down” is for the left hand. The motion for the right hand IS revving, it’s just doing it with the right hand upside down. He means its the same movement for the right hand. I agree he bounces between left and right hands confusingly! Good luck with your game!

    • @pbode1
      @pbode1 Před 27 dny

      Agree! Record yourself in slo mo, so you have enough frames per second to freeze afterwards. My main problem was that I shallowed my backswing too much when recuperating from a frozen shoulder, which stopped my right arm from lifting my club properly on the vertical plane. Fair bit of forearm roll taking the club inside which I was already doing before my frozen shoulder.. Top of my backswing I had my hands behind my trail heel, plenty of hip rotation, but a swing plane of 34 degrees or so with lots of forearm rotation (that last measurement thanks to Hackmotion I must admit) coming WAY too much from the inside, club behind me forcing my hips to pause on the downswing to let my shoulders and arms catch up. So for me it was not lack of rotation but a rotation 'freeze' in the middle of the downswing. and then working super hard to square the face by early extending my back, and flipping the toe (I could see on the last frame before impact how my face structurally was sort of square or even open to the path, and then one frame later usually square to the target at impact: There's your straight hook.
      Now I find that forcing myself to make a straight 'push out' takeway (that's how it feels to me) to avoid rolling the club inside behind me (that David Leadbetter logic behind his swing aid), then lifting it (which feels to me like setting up for a massive over the top slice :-) and just letting it go from there on what is in fact closer to 45 degrees arc. Not only straightens the hooks to draws, I can even attempt a conscious fade. For that takeaway tip I thank Warren Bennetts channel that showed me the (headcover under lead upper arm) drill first that would sound the 'too much arms across the chest/inside takeaway' alarm. So simple, but it showed me the way out (and the truth that a fault at the start tends to produce a domino effect after)

    I tried this for two weeks and I must be doing something wrong. Most of my shots start slightly left but then hook further left. You can’t score with that much curve. My swing is inside out. Just don’t know how to get rid off the big miss.

    • @mumbo1107
      @mumbo1107 Před 17 dny

      As a motorcycle rider I find this analogy totally confusing. Are you talking left or right hand? If right hand it is impossible if left hand even worse. And please explain the very brief position shots which pop up. I love your other videos becaof their simplicity but this one is not obvious to me.
