This is part two of a series in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! A melting pot for many cultures, this means there is nothing but unique and extraordinary takes on dishes as you see the culture and cooking flavors come together. .
I start my day off at the Chow Kit market to take a look at the biggest wet market in Kuala Lumpur. I then track all over the city looking for as much food as I could eat in one day! From local street snacks to a feast for dinner this video has it all!
I hope you all enjoy the video, feel free to comment, like, and subscribe if you like the content and want to see more!
Also let me know what you would like to see and where you would like to see my future travels take me!
    Wishing you the best,

about the sauses in roti canai u mentioned, yes the locals usually eat with mixing all the 3 sauses together. Sambal (red), dal (yellow), curry (brownish). it is the way to go.
since you are sweet tooth, try and order "Roti Boom Kaya"... (Roti Boom = puffier version of roti canai. Kaya = sweet creamy coconut spread made from coconut milk) usually they dont have it in the menu but u can order it in most of local indian/mamak restaurant. (cuz people dont usually order it like this, mixing it with Kaya, Kaya usually ordered with a bread toast) i guanreenteed you would love it. you can eat it as it is without dipping it in any sauses.
      your welcome

We just arrived back from Kuala Lumpur (KL) yesterday, and have to say that KL is an amazing city, with even more amazing people and food. We are seasoned travellers, and would rate Malaysia right at the top of our list of countries to visit. We flew from KL to Penang for £23 (return) each, which is $29, and loved the city of Georgetown. Love to Malaysia.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this.. But Kandar in Nasi Kandar is actually referring to the way it was carried to the working people in the olden days. So they have it in like boxes, usually two, and is balanced on the shoulders with a long stick and the boxes suspended on both ends of the stick.. That method of carrying stuff is called Kandar. So Nasi Kandar is referring to the nasi (and any other curries or dishes) that is being carried on a Kandar..
Btw canai in roti canai is pronounced as cha-nai.

Just a note about nasi kandar. Nasi means cooked rice (uncooked rice is beras). Kandar however refers to how this dish was sold way back about 70-80 years ago. Kandar actually is a long bamboo stick held over the shoulder, with two pots hanging from either end. One had rice in it, and the other had some curry, beef, fried fish and some okra. That was it back then. It was the poor man's lunch, which in the 1940s and 50s cost just about 30 sen for a basic meal. The nasi kandar you see today is an evolution from a poor man's lunch to a gourmet meal. You will not find a kandar these days. However the name has stayed on.

nasi kandar (local called them) is actually originated in States of Penang. Back then in the late 18's, Penang was one of the busiest dock for Traders around the world and the ship would stop at Penang for trading from middle east to asian region. Because the dock was so busy, so many locals and immigrant from the middle east work there and there will be individuals will come and carry rice (nasi) and dishes (mostly curry and variety of herbs and spicy based dish) in their shoulder (kandar or mengandar -verb word) who will sell and maybe feed for the dock workers. So the tradition of mixing the rice and all the dishes is still the same of what happen back then but the different is the rice is never been carry out with shoulder anymore nowadays. You can try to google image word " kandar " and you will get the idea.

Jalan Alor is a famous tourist spot foods are delicious not gonna lie but u might got ripped . here's a tip, ask your grab driver or taxi driver for local go places to eat
(edit: seeing the prices there, u definitely got ripped sir. RM7 for a bowl of ABC tht normally goes for RM5 topped with everything)
