Awesome tutorial!!! I've had maybe close to over 3 maybe 4 years worth of photos and videos saved onto my SD card and the internal storage of my Samsung Note 8 and it's finally time to clear up some space. I'm backing up the photos to my computer right now and also using Google Photos but Google Photos is a lot more efficient and quicker. Can never have too many backups in this day and age lol.

When you backup/upload a photo into Google photos, it will be there even if you delete the photo from your phone. Source: I downloaded google photos for the first time on my new phone and saw photos from my old phones apparently my old phone was automatically uploading every photo/video I take into google photos.
My problem is when I delete something from my Photos app, it also gets deleted on my Google Photos app. I dont know if that's supposed to be happening or if i have to change soemhting in my settings but i dont know. The pfp has dots around it, it means that there is still photo’s that are backing up, to delete the ones that are already deleted click your pfp and press free space then it will delete your vids/photos in your camera roll but stays in google photos

This is the question I want answers to. Most likely not. What you described is a “Storage” but this cloud backup stuff is a sync feature which is replicated on many redundant servers..... so I don’t think it works the way you and I want it to, but then again this is just an assumption
Yes it does. Done it so many times. I don't even do it manually. I just wait for Google Photo to pop up the question "Backup and delete photos in your phone". I just follow the prompt to backup and delete my photos.
the travelling tip was useful - i never thought about that esp as i travel to Germany a lot and i notice battery not lasting so i've been trying to pinpoint why and what to turn off. so far my backup plan is take my iphone 3!! or try to use iPad for photos. You will have to click on every picture you have then. Tap and hold a bunch of pictures in the Home Screen then 3 dots will appear at the top right then a little pop up menu will appear with a column that says back up. You have to turn auto sync off and individually click all your pictures to do it.

Click on your account profile on the top right, and then click on “free up space.” It will ask if you want to delete the photos that are backed up to Google, and if you click “yes” it will automatically delete them from your phone for you, but they will still be saved to Google Photos. After that, you will still need to go to “recently deleted” on your phone and delete them from there yourself, though, or they will remain there for up to 40 days. That’s how it is on iPhone, anyway. Good luck.
it depends, samsung android phones have a "photos" app and don't include Google Photos. +1 though for google photos, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. The search algorithm is really robust, and helps you find old photos really fast. For example, you can search for fireworks, dogs, yellow, notes, paper, screen shots, licenses, etc. There's a google photos app for Mac for backup but you can use the google drive backup, since photos are uploaded to Gphotos through there anyway. I almost never use the Apple Photos application anymore. I wish I could upload full res photos though without paying for storage but that's another vid I guess. I had free full rez Gphoto storage with my Android Pixel3 and it was a crazy awesome photo year!

Photos app on Android sync photos in the background. On Android, you don't have to open it to sync. photos app doesn't sync in the background only on iPhones

When I got my new phone the guy at Verizon sent all my current pics to google photos and then freed up that space in my phone but I could still access all my photos on my phone as they were on the google app. I now have a ton more pics, how do I preform the same task. Of course the same guy isn't at Verizon and when I went in to ask about it the girl looked at me like I was crazy. Thanks.

When you upload a photo from a computer, will Google "date arrange" it by the date of the upload or the date of photo origin (or last edit)?
Google Photos used to be free for unlimited photos but that’s changed, right? Can you explain more about that? Thank you! 👍
I believe it’s changing this summer. Anything you store in there leading up to then won’t count towards your storage.
