I feel like Kurama should play the matchup defensively. Using fireballs, fludd and retreating aerials and trying to stay out of Kazuyas threat range while pushing hard on his disadvantage. ewgf is such a strong tool against a character like Mario whos stubby range and playstyle of landing on your opponents can give Kazuya the slight edge
It's just not his playstyle to be super campy but yeah it doesn't make sense to ever approach Kazuya funny man.

I won't dispute Riddles's skill but I hate watching any Kazuya but Tea. A lot of the same Kazuya shit but Tea does it with style. Riddles is too optimized.

Everyone says mario kills off of one interaction but you have to read peoples di and at least one defensive option. And thats only if you get the up airs into fair at the ledge.
Kazuya literally spams the samemove regardless of percent and di so has a literally braindead advantage state.
(Im a g&w main and mario/greninja secondary, so trust me when i say that not having to adjust ur combos on the fly gives you soo much brainspace. Its like a cutscene where u can think about whats next. While theyre hopelessly trying to think about di)
Marios only advantage in this matchup is his mobility stats for whiff punishes. But watch what all of kazuyas moves look like when they hit the air. Yeah, real subtle. Notice how they look exactly like that crouch or dash animation that riddles kept spamming? And if you do swing at the same time kazuya always KILLS you. Riddles literally teabagged kurama into the corner a couple times and then forced him to swing and die.
Kazuya is just a bad match up for Mario in general. He's heavy but not too big, his moves have some intangibility which makes it hard for Mario to approach, Kazuya has more range, equal combo damage, and more kill power. Marios foot work and air mobility really has to put in overtime in this match up
With the way things are headed, I have a feeling that riddles is gonna become the hbox of ultimate

One of the biggest disadvantages on using classic characters like Mario, link, Luigi, Kirby and more….is that everyone knows there move and dlc characters are newer and simply just better tiers, it’s almost unfair

Even Nito who play Kazuya on the box who mind you is easier to do actually can't get top 8 results as consistent as Riddles. So yeah surely Riddles is carried by Kazuya. That's why we see 6 Kazuya main in Top 8.

Riddles only succeeds with kazuya because his former main was a fighting game character (terry). Fgc mains pick up kazuya because that’s the only way they’ll be able to win anything. Without a cheese op character he would never make it this far in any bracket. Soon you’ll see other fgc mains follow in riddles steps and pick up kaz
