My favourite neo noir films are Chinatown directed by Roman Polanski, Carlito's way directed by De Palma, Red Rock West and 8mm.

Some recent favs. that come to mind are _Only God Forgives_ , _Inherent Vice_ , _Long Day's Journey into Night_ & _The Wild Goose Lake_ .
Can the style of David Fischer be called Neo-noir? Personally my favorite director; the beautiful cinematography, sober color pallete and dark shadows and interesting themes.
Michael Mann's Thief is my all time favorite of the genre

A good neo noir in recent memory that I enjoyed despite it not being perfect is Neon Demon by NWR. Also Fallen Angel which I recent saw

What's the music you use as the background ?
How did you get around to making this? From analyzing to writing about it to editing the video itself? I’d like to get started myself but I have not a clue where to start
1. Download an editing software. I use premiere pro but there are good free options. Watch CZcams tutorials and play around editing things. Use Audacity to record narration.
2. Look into Film Theory, read online film reviews, watch film analysis videos. Find your own niche and style, start writing short essays, reviews and analyses.
3. Make a channel with a good name. Decide on a content strategy and test out a couple of videos. Best first video is to make an analysis of your all time fave film!

Hey, I'm looking for a neo noir movie I watched a few years ago, but even after going through all the lists on the web I could find, I still don't have its title. My hope is, that someone might recognize the details I still can recall... It can't be much older than 15 years. The story was kind of typical for the genre, sth bout a private detective following clues leading to some kind of energy plant/underground science laboratory owned by a millionaire...
But the main gimmick of the movie was its blue/red color palette (it was quite surreal, almost like straight out of a comic book) , the constant rain, and a brass instrument led soundtrack reminiscent of the old film noires of the 40s and 50s. At the end there war some kind of shootout on top of a chain of hills.
It seemed like an arthouse production or sth - clearly not like a big Hollywood production.
If someone recognizes some of the details - I would be really pleased. Trying to find that flick for a few years now. Thanks a lot! :)

Does Joker 2019 count? pretty dark, the city is like a character in the film and just like Travis in Taxi Driver we watch Arthur descend into madness
Yeah Joker counts. It was largely based on Taxi Driver anyway, so follows the same style
