The entire concept of episodes was a false narrative to justify only doing three seasons per year while charging the same amount. Classic Bungie nickle and diming.
Yup. The problem is the core loop and content when you're done the story/activity. They just spread a shitty 4 season model into a 3 season model but it's all still the same.
We're also suffering from the fact that yet again the core playlists have been left in the dust. Gone are the days where in a annual expansion we got entire vendor refreshes and 3-5 pvp maps and strikes let alone gambit arenas
@@ThePotatoeGuru i know theres no more activision but i swear i cud spend weeks grinding strikes and pvp in d1 for all the god rolls and specific loot and it was bearable cause of the new maps/strikes
Episodes were their chance to make three single substantial mini campaigns that could have a clear beginning middle and end. They instead decided to just retrofit the seasonal story structure into a longer drawn out season and it feels off in almost every aspect.
Dude it’s a matter of resources. These were NEVER going to be like expansions and you’re expecting way to much if you thought they were. They are seasons that have been shuffled around, but I think for the better.
What killed it for me was coming back after a short break... running two battlegrounds for the story and then getting the NES004 quest-- which involved running 5 MORE battlegrounds, focusing engrams AND THEN RUNNING THOSE SAME BATTLEGROUNDS AGAIN.
I don't mind timegating story beats, but episodes feel like we've timegated timegating. Weapons are timegated and focusing is further timegated, season pass levels are timegated and progress suddenly stops for weeks, timegated missions are timegated
I feel like the problem with episodes is that they focused on making seasons bigger instead of making them better. They keep saying how the Act 3 exotic mission is the biggest one they’ve made, but what do we do if the quality is on par with Vox Obscura.
Yeah, the story is boring asf. There no big choices being made and we are still, after 10 years, we are still be told something is changing/happening rather than those things actually just changing or something happening. They really need to hire a strong lead writer and then LISTEN to them

Once thing you missed is that the difficulty and forcing casuals to have to team up with people has chased off every casual player that I know. They attempted to make the whole of destiny Neomuna and the casuals don't want to play fps darksouls. They took a fun to mess around with your friends with game and tried to turn it into something far more difficult and most casuals/solos just moved on. That is what is hurting them seeing as the casual players make up 80%+ of the community.
Because the reality is DLCs in destiny 2 doesn’t really change the game overall but adding a small aspect of the game. So after finishing the story you are back to the same bullshit you were doing before right after
The fact that the witness is now dead and yet planets have remained the same, like nothing significant have happened is what I mean. DLCs are supposed to expand the game overall not patching it.
yup... back to just gm farm for another weapon that does mostly what five other weapons do we already have. To get exotic engrams that we dont need bc we have every exotic already. to get a pinnacle that increases your power by what 1-2 points a week....
If they’re going to make us wait 3 weeks between content drops, they need to have an impressive activity at the start of each part of the chapter. We don’t even get unique story missions anymore, battlegrounds are not a primary selling point for any content release
Okay, well you're in the pool of people that want lasting substantive quality asap or for every waking moment. What are you going to do next Episode in Destiny when you get your wish and the whole Act is served upfront? Bc you'll have a TON of down time when that day comes...
All I want from Bungie is for them to get out of the game business. Not buying their games has turned out to be much more satisfying than anything they've done in the last few years. Let a competent developer that respects their customers take over the Destiny IP for a D3 in 2027 or 2028. Maybe take the best of the lore and put it in a mini-series format for 2025 or 2026 to reinvigorate the veteran players that are completely disgusted by what the Desting franchise became. I have dozens of friends that I gathered over the last 10 years playing Destiny. Not one is playing the game any longer. Maybe 1 or 2 bought TFS and played it for a week. That's it. It's all over now. All of the OG Destiny players I know despise Bungie now. That's thanks to years of Bungie squeezing every ounce of fun out of the original game & ripping them off by removing content. If I need a Destiny fix in the next few years, I'll play D1.
I also love how they "brought back the Season of Dawn Weapons" and just completely forgot several of them, Steelfeather Repeater? Whats that? Trophy Hunter? What?
They either need to evolve the world, or not at all if they think it's gonna confuse new/returning players. Look at Leviathan still looming at the sky of the moon for no reasons.
Yeah imagine how awesome it would have been if each of the planets/zones had a bunch of subtle changes, refreshes of the enemy spawns, updates to geometry etc. Another thing I have always thought of would be if they had a team of devs/designers who just constantly add new things to the patrol zones - including new tunnels and areas, but they don't announce it... they just add it and then when we discover it, it's exciting and novel. Imagine how cool it would be if some random discovers a crack in a wall that they can enter and then they end up going down a massive tunnel into a new sector and find new secrets... the internet goes wild over that stuff and it brings delight and excitement for the players.
They didn't even bother changing the view of the city from the tower when it was under siege in Into the Light. They are obviously short on budget and resources, they will always try to get out with the absolute bare minimum. We would not have gotten even Prismatic and the Dread, if not for the massive player outcry and the 3 month delay.
@@petexn7573 DLCs are mainstay all at once drops of content, while seasons are timegated temporary content. Id much rather development time be put into content that will stay in the game for more than a year
@@cjshenesky4912 not to mention you pay 50 dollars for all the seasons and the content just disappears next expansion. The only game where stuff you pay for is taken away from you on a consistent basis.
Because like it or not. Seasons performed far better. Every expansion, with the exception of warmind was pretty bottom of the barrel stuff. Curse of Osiris. Dark Below. There are seasons better than those expansions. That’s how bad they were. And there was no reason to play. Seasons gave you a reason to play. Fórmula needs to change. But mini expansions aren’t the answer.
We've fallen into the MCU Phase 4 issue. We finally dropped the big bad. So how do you either make the aftermath compare? Or, how do you create a new big bad that doesn't pale in comparison?
It's pretty simple. You develop a new enemy that was subtly introduced in the past. I'm not playing this anymore, but from what I've heard from people who are is that they may be developing the Winnower and Gardener and bigger aspects there, so that could be the next major antagonist(s). But unless they speed up those implications, people getting bored and questioning the Episode model "change" suggest to me that there isn't enough to really sink players' teeth into. Not to be toxic, but...Warframe is doing that exact thing. The story is not only plugging into recent major quests, but they had their own major climax a couple years ago, and are now directly developing an entity they introduced in mid-2016. 8 years is longer than Destiny 2 has been alive. And all the recent quests, even the last one which was only 30 minutes, have been artistic, thoughtful, emotional, and compelling. Destiny needs to start being more poignant with its quest content, and stop doing these "bad guys are doing bad things, eyes up, Guardians" content drops, for content that's intended to be temporary.
It's a combo of that and the fact that it's just worse seasons rn. I was fine with Seasons, but it did get stale. This "shake up" in the model they wanted is just seasons with more time gating
Agreed. Too time gated now... And the changes for all 3 acts of future episodes being served up front in 3 separate drops just leaves too much down time even with holiday events.
I hit the pinnacle cap last week so I've been more focused on playing end game content for fun and starting to play less. I think like most I will start disengaging until the Act is fully released and / or we get the next big event like Solstice. As a long term player we live off GOALS so having them time gated can be a let down
My biggest critique of Bungie's live service model is how fucking scared they are to make any permanent changes to the game. Everything seasonal (or episode) related feels extremely detached and watered down since its supposed to get removed at the end of the year. I wish I could look at the Destiny universe and see the game actually change but the most we get is social space updates lol
@@underscore_5450 They think Wow's cataclysm failed because of the changed environment. No, it failed because the accompanying story was boring as hell. Same with Episode 1 of D2
Time gating is still just a false sense of 'things to do'. Just release it all for those that want it and then slowly drip feed yourself. If you want 'weekly' engagement then make the game good enough to keep those entertained. Why is this even a conversation? Also super hot take: Give me my entire season pass immediately. Why if I'm paying for something do I have to still 'earn' it by playing. Imagine having to earn the files of a game you bought by slowing doing random tasks and then you finally have the whole game file at the end lol. There is absolutely no need for fomo anymore.
I feel like destiny focuses too much on linear story hits, but that's not what keeps players long term. What we need is more core content and more in-depth mechanisms around that content. Bring back strike specific loot, make grandmaster battlegrounds it own activity vs strikes, giving them season adept loot or something. Add fun content that stays in the game and diversifies where you play

Gna be honest, everything dropping at the start im pretty excited for. I don’t want to constantly have to be logging in week to week for Destiny. I want to play other stuff too. For people who only want to grind Destiny I get it but to me the ability to dive hard for a week and come back every 6 weeks sounds great to me. Will that work for bungie maybe not. But me selfishly yes. I feel way better about destiny when I’m not time gated into constantly playing it
Honestly I don’t think there was much bungie could do to stop this. Destiny has been great, the 10 year story has been finished, it’s like avengers endgame and a lot of people not gonna be invested like they used to be. Honestly we just need a destiny 3 at this point.
A lot of people, I think, just want to be done with Bungie itself. Some people are tired of their constant nerfing shenanigans and trying to manipulate them into new play styles and always finding new ways to nickle and dime everyone.
A Destiny 3 changes NOTHING. You still have the same people doing the same content, I still dont get this "Factory Reset Mindset." Besides, if Destiny 3 arrives, it would be for future generation consoles, not the current ones. But the project of a Destiny 3 is absurd, Bungie is STUCK with the seasonal (episode) structure, and they don't know how to fix it because the problem is not a number, the problem is the people who work on those departments and don't know how to solve narrative elements and how to deliver the content, is stagnant, like a clogged toilet and that structure migrate into a D3 project, a brand new game does not fix that issue, it's an administration issue, their staff is lacking the ability to fix their delivery.
@@gascan7333 I mean I ain’t say anything about me personally, just saying after the final shape this was inevitable. Of course there’s gonna be people who will always enjoy the game. Seasonal content is not it for more and more players. Story-related fomo does not affect anyone anymore because most of the story is on youtube and not in the game anyway so there is no need to play some filler between real expansions.
I don't have a problem with the core gameplay loop. The problem I have is Pathfinder inherent structure problems and bugs, plus the plethora of bugs that are _still_ not fixed weeks after launch. Pathfinder is a very blatant throttling of bright dust acquisition.
@@FlashesSoccer011I 100% agree. It is extremely stupid. I miss being able to collect all my bounties and watching them all be completed. I also feel like it gave you one more reason to go to the tower and added a little immersion. Now it’s just some generic ass quest tree.
I completely forget that Pathfinder exists most of the time, it's just about the most tucked away menu in the game. The system is fine enough I guess, I don't mind it, really, I just don't remember it.
Ya I checked the player count yesterday and it shows it's lower than when Onslaught was released. Also, I've been trying to get the class item and using in game LFG. And that's what tipped me off...for the last 2 weeks there are on average ONE LFG group per day!? And those usually sit for 90 minutes or longer. And I checked everyone in the crucible the last 2 days and I've only seen a handful of people with them equipped. Doesn't mean they don't have it but odd not to have one equipped if you have one. Anyway I'm certain the player drop will get much worse
The only reason why you don't like all of the content dropping at the beginning of an act is because of your profession. For your average recreational gamer, the switch to dropping everything at the start of each act is an amazing change. Let them play at their own pace.
The problem I see with the time gating is the pacing it ends up putting us on. The once a week release isn't, in itself, bad. But the timing, doing it so early in the week, makes it so that by the time the weekend rolls around, you've probably done a lot of whatever is new. The time that most people could maybe sit down and do something with their friends that isn't just grinding, to share an _experience_, is on the weekend. But individually, we've all gone through it by then. Remember when we all sat around for hours to watch the Almighty explode? That's the kind of shared experience that's been slipping the last few years- they can't make it from Tuesday to Friday, let along through the whole weekend. The difficulty that Bungie has in that regard, is that releasing on Tuesday makes sense. It gives time to address any problems before the weekend hits. It's just that most of the time, we don't really run into anything where that is needed, and we end up in the original issue of not having as much to do at the very time when we have the most time to do it. The hook is set on Tuesday, but can't keep us on the line through the weekend, it's just too far apart. Topic switch- the typo is great Paul, and you should switch your gamer tag to Notf. Or maybe NotF. This needs a poll.
Can we just go back to bi annual expansions with unique mission designs, strikes, dungeons/raids, and then make events actually....cool? The events for the last 3 years have had basically 0 innovation...
I’m not happy with this episode at all. No reprised raid no new dungeon. Tired of seasonal activities. It’s very hard to get the urge to play atm and none of my friends are playing either. There’s only 4 or 5 people online if I’m lucky. And even though I love salvations edge it’s not very fun to play again and again. The battlegrounds are the best battlegrounds they’ve done so far but I prefer every single strike. And I know this will be unpopular but the gay love story between saint and Osiris is just getting boring in my opinion. Their relationship is being at the centre is just weird af. Love failsafe though she’s funny af. And still not seeing the big bad is bizarre
I have two questions that have been on my mind since this new episode, why is the Nessus makeover only present in the missions and activities? And why does that first question have to be asked? It seems so simple and actually represents actual change as they promised but we’re still in the helm we’re still waiting on *insert seasonal vendor* to do research or take a week long nap to recharge. It’s the same shit but slightly different delivery, and we’re still waiting.
Bungie Devs wanted “playtime numbers, & weekly log ins”. Well I will log in for 4 minutes to get 1 red border then log off and play First Descendent. I prefer a game that doesn’t time gate me and lets me play & get loot as much as I want. Seasons & episodes are dumb. I’m frankly over Destiny. Bungie has mistreated us for 10 yrs.
I've shifted to becoming more casual after the final shape personally. Although my 13 year old son used to only play expansions he suddenly started playing A TON of D2 with TFS launch. So I'm taking him through all the dungeons and exotic missions currently, and we're having a blast in PVP both if us trying to improve enough to reach ascendant in comp and go flawless in trials. So, for me, my reasons for playing have completely changed. Honestly, im fine with the model because when I take breaks it allows me to come back and have things to do. But I do hope they continue with bigger expansions in the future. Although part of me wonders if moving away from seasons/episodes completely and just focusing on 1 medium expansion and 1 massive expansion might be better. Let people come and go as they please because trying to get people to stick around is a mistake imo. Just make good content and people will come.
No new PvP maps, hunter ability spam, two weeks of IB and time gating PvE has made me loose all drive to play. I didn’t buy the next two episodes and now don’t plan on it.
I personally enjoy the three weeks on/off. It gives me a chance to catch up or play other things while keeping Destiny on my mind and fresh. The issue currently is the story, we can only have “What are the Vex doing?” for so long. The character moments are great but we need much more plot happening.
I think one of the issues is there’s simply just nothing worth investing your time into, there’s nothing to DO. If you look at Warframe and even First Decendant, you can have really good long term goals. In Destiny, the biggest goal you can set is beating a raid… then waiting a week… or doing a Grandmaster. Which is far from a long term goal. Endgame activity certainly, but not a long term activity.
I think it's too early to tell. But given how high quality Echo's already is compared to the average season is a good sign. New environments, weapon models, and generally longer stories. 3 stories more fleshed out vs 4 stories. I really like the Saint stuff so far.
The story is longer but so far it's conveyed almost nothing of substance. The Vex are doing weird stuff as always, they're slow to reveal the villain when I feel like that should have been an end of act one story beat, and Saint being all mopey isn't that interesting.
this is supposed to be address by Act ONE, please call things out as you experience them and not what they "eventually" become. Judge the product, not the promise
Crafting was the biggest mistake Bungie made with D2. Now you can get your perfect roll in a day and then you either don’t play the activity again or you lose interest in the game all together. I think they need to scrap it
Destiny isn't a evolving world. Nessus didn't change, content delivery didn't change. So like what changed? It's the last 4 years just with more stretched out content that doesn't build to a moment anymore. They shouldve let TFS rest, and done a Rise of Iron spin of DLC instead. It would've been refreshing to jump into a new destination, a new enemy sub faction, and meaningful content which isn't designed to be thrown away
People quitting faster than post Lightfall was to be expected, still crazy. It’s not due to a bad game just a finished game. The honeymoon phase is over, your game is still the same with no overhaul or revamps. Are you excited to fight more scorn in episode 2 and more hive in episode 3? Gladd was right again, from a business standpoint how does Sony respond to the decline that supersedes last year. If I was in charge I would try to boost morale/numbers with a sequel, knowing if I added new guns, a returning raid or subclass in current D2 it would still be the same PS4 launch gameplay and sandbox, which long time players are mostly over with and new stuff in an old game wouldn’t capture a new audience. But without the tenure of what made D2 not around anymore via layoffs or them just quitting, would D3 even be good if different? Frontiers is the answer to that. If it’s simply a new expansion, chances are people won’t return. It’s sequel time. Elden Ring’s expansion has been phenomenal by the way. Just move on everyone to other games
Just too much of a grind these days sadly which I cannot be arsed with. Repeating an activity 5 times + and you take a look at yourself and ask what I'm I doing? All this effort to get a weapon that I scrape in a few months down the line. I can respect my time more with another game or whatever after I've experienced the story.
They work but so many people hate on the story and characters Can’t tell you how many comments I’ve seen hating on Osiris and saint because “their gay” or “oh great more love stuff” The story revolves around these characters and how the vex and echo affect the characters relationship if you can’t realize that you shouldn’t be critiquing a story/ characters you fundamentally don’t even care about

It might well suck for people that a thing they’ve spent a lot of money on ends up not being worth it, but I’ll reiterate: if you preorder a game, you are accepting as the consumer the risk that it isn’t what you might’ve thought it’d be, and so as much as you may want to, you aren’t entitled to blame the company for your poor choice

Sounds like Bungie writers have Rumiko Takahashi syndrome where they don’t know how to truly end a story. Bungie has been bad with money before, so I’m not surprised.
Honestly, still love the game just a bit burned out after grinding every bit of onslaught, then into the hype of the witness and the campaign. Honestly once I beat the campaign and then saw that I had to grind for the class items I was already mentally exhausted
Very much agreed. I still don't know what the solution could be story telling wise. I kinda like the pursuit of the transcendent title (pale heart, dunno what it's called in English) minus the resets of the ghost vendor.
I have 1799 hours in D2 and 1779 hours in Warframe, and I am FAR FAR more excited about the future of Warframe than I am Destiny. Bungie have built Destiny into a corner. It needs a hard reset in the form of a Destiny 3 where it's built from the beginning to be played for a long time. It is crazy to think that TFS was originally going to launch without Prismatic and probably the class item too.
Branch out! Exactly. Space Combat could be the answer. If much smaller studio of Warframe, with lesser bugdets could make space combat in their game - Bungie for sure can.
So much of the enjoyment I get from a season or episode comes down to aesthetics. I like the spooky feel of the Hive and played Season of the Witch relentlessly, but Nessus and the Vex don't interest me nearly as much and so I don't log in nearly as often. I think I've had my fill of Echoes; I'll check back in for Solstice and see what the next Episode looks like.
Extremely lucky in one regard here -- I got 5 Deepsights on the new sidearm completely from activity drops. That said, I am still stuck on 3 Axial Lacuna and 1 on the sword in Pale Heart (and used a Resonance on Someday) and I think 1 on Corrasion.
Personally, I’ve enjoyed not having to Level my guardians over the last couple years and the thought of having to do that to enjoy a lot of content has driven me away from all content. I can’t be bothered with the game.
The issue is that you hyped TFS, which was a fine expansion, but as soon as it's over, that's it. The class exotics are a massive let down, that were severely hurt due to the fact that they're limited to what combinations you can have. This was the time to go all out crazy with builds, and then they limit the craziness? That makes no sense. I was severely looking forward to having Actium on my hunter. But no, you give us boring combos that are just another form of best-in-slot. No thanks.
I’m so glad the first episode is the guardian being a third wheel I’d put money on the conductor being a jealous Saint-14 from this timeline or something
D2 has run its course, its on an outdated engine, outdated code, and at a minimum 90% of content and gameplay is reused, ive played all the expansions and all they are doing is returning content that i already paid for years ago that was taken away. All they need to do is let d2 go and start on d3, their player base will continue to fall no matter what they do
I just don’t think there’s an answer to the seasonal/episode problem. What else could they do? People don’t want the week to week, people aren’t gunna want the stacked drop, they both will feel bad on the three act timegate.
As one of the people who hasn't opened Destiny 2 in weeks, here's my reasons why: - I work full time and the last thing I wanna do is come home and sit at another desk after doing that all day - What are we fighting for now? The Witness is gone, I just don't see any reason to check out the new loot when, as a non-raider, there's nothing to fight for. Difficult situation for the Bungie story people because how do you possibly follow up the Final Shape without just making the Witness 2?
I’ll never understand where people are getting the whole “Episodes will be completely different than seasons” they LITERALLY never said that, all they ever said was “switching up delivery cadence and give us more time to create better content” or something similar.
I imagined the ending of Destiny 2 in the following way -Campaign:Discovering his weakness and make him force him to seek refuge Vex Season: An unexpected and urgent threat, with no time to lose / frenzy to wipe out millions of Vex / To finally put a new order to the Vex now commanded by a human mind Fallen Season: Redeem Eramis and make our army bigger against the witness Hive Season: Completely defeat Xivu and completely eradicate the old hive pantheon/ With Savatun leaving the system or definitively joining the final fight End of Destiny 2 Begin our final advance against the Witness, with all our new abilities and a complete understanding of what it means to wield light and darkness. Become Legend by traveling out Sol system 😢 PD: Nimbus Die instead of Cayde ❤
Going from the Witness who was semi-fully fleshed out. To "The Conductor" who hasn't even been seen yet makes it feel empty. The VEX have always been my least favorite and this is not helping their case.
One of the other issues is focusing on this romance that is poorly written and seems to have taken over as the "storyline" instead of what is actually going on with the Vex and the Conductor. There really isn't any story that is progressing on a narrative level of past campaigns and seasons. Saint and Osiris are cool characters with good VAs, but the story beat just isn't hitting and there's far more important details with the Vex and what they are doing that should be the main focus. Destiny 3 won't solve a single thing either, people will be mad again that they have to farm up loot again. The players always say they want new stuff, but then use the same old stuff and complain when the old stuff goes away or gets updated. Bungie should have never put the 2 next to Destiny, same mistake Blizzard made with Overwatch. They didn't need a "new" game then or now, they just need to update the main game, leave past gen consoles behind so the engine can get better, and find a way to have better and more innovative content in game that keeps people engaged. The game has always had a content problem because there simply isn't enough to do in the game if you are a grinder and 99% of the content is "baby game" easy mode stuff you can sleepwalk through. I think one of the reasons I'm enjoying TFD, and why I enjoyed Warframe back in the day, is that I can login every night of the week and do something different that progresses me toward a goal. I can go farm weapon parts for a new ultimate weapon I want to craft, or I can go farm void intercepts, or work on progressing through hard mode, or work on getting a new descendant I want to try out. There is just a sense of progression that's always missing from Destiny for me, and it's one of the reasons I wind up taking long breaks when the content gets stale.
Paul, I believe Destiny 2 needs to be simplified. Character builds, mechanics, story, the whole thing. After over 10 years of playing I would like to feel like my time playing was worth something and feel powerful going into all the new content, not be burdened by watching more CZcams than playing the game in order to know how to try and play the game. Just my opinion, that's it
I personally love the episode model. It lets me play some good content for a few weeks and then leave when the act is over. Maybe I'm just more casual than in the past but the FOMO seems turned down and in general I think the story content and activities are pretty good
They need to double down on onslaught with new maps (not just old PVP maps), make the weapons worth it to chase. More grindable things like shinies (maybe shiny armor?) . Maybe even make a 6 or 12 man onslaught activity but like 25 rounds or something.
So, if we leave the current Sol System in Frontiers then all current destinations and activities will likely be vaulted. Essentially, Destiny 3. However, my guess is that they will expand our vault again and allow us to keep all of our gear.
Final Shape and the episode acts feel almost like two different development teams. They completely abandoned ship from all the character building and changes that happened in the final shape campaign.
Finished act 2 story content in one day, now I have no meaningful reason to log in other than to grind for the season pass stuff…. Personally, I didn’t mind the old seasonal weekly reset style. The story delivery could’ve been much better but I had more reason to log in when you have 7-10 weekly resets with weekly story. This is certainly more jarring to the delivery of the story to have several weeks of no new story opposed to having a new story beat every week.
I loved final shape. 6000 hours in Destiny 2 on steam alone. It’s my favorite game. But I’m not playing anymore. Episodes do not do it for me. I don’t feel any different from season other than just having more abrupt stops. The activities although visually appealing just isn’t something I look forward to. It’s tired. And now Destiny has a lot of competition for my time. First Descendant, I have a Bunny I’ve reset 9 times! And I’m still liking the grind. Once Human, this game is free, it’s crazy why it’s free. I would throw money at this game. More coming as well to compete for my time. Black myth wukong, throne and liberty, so much. Bungie has to step up to pull my attention. I still can’t recommend friends to play it cos it will cost like $$$$ to get everything.

YES THIS IT'S LITERALLY SELL LESS GAME FOR EQUAL ANNUAL PRICE
Shrinkflation. Like getting smaller Hostess cupcakes, for more money, than the bigger ones we used to get.
We're also suffering from the fact that yet again the core playlists have been left in the dust. Gone are the days where in a annual expansion we got entire vendor refreshes and 3-5 pvp maps and strikes let alone gambit arenas
This cannot be upvoted enough

Episodes were their chance to make three single substantial mini campaigns that could have a clear beginning middle and end. They instead decided to just retrofit the seasonal story structure into a longer drawn out season and it feels off in almost every aspect.
but theres more general content
we have 5 activites instead of 2
and it will go up to like 6
Play them at the end of the episode and they are exactly that, a mini-campaign with a start, middle and end...

They are seasons that have been shuffled around, but I think for the better.

Destiny 2 has next to no sustainable engagement. The recycling of content and systems has hit a wall.
What killed it for me was coming back after a short break... running two battlegrounds for the story and then getting the NES004 quest-- which involved running 5 MORE battlegrounds, focusing engrams AND THEN RUNNING THOSE SAME BATTLEGROUNDS AGAIN.
I miss Altars of Summoning. :(
Yeah I agree that aspect was a drag. However I DID enjoy the battlegrounds, especially on Expert level.

They took a fun to mess around with your friends with game and tried to turn it into something far more difficult and most casuals/solos just moved on. The fact that the witness is now dead and yet planets have remained the same, like nothing significant have happened is what I mean. DLCs are supposed to expand the game overall not patching it.

Definitely. Bungie are the worst. Give Destiny to Sony.
Seasons were busy work and not that engaging. Episodes are just the same. Did they change the repetitive boring loop enough? They did notf
I also love how they "brought back the Season of Dawn Weapons" and just completely forgot several of them, Steelfeather Repeater? Whats that? Trophy Hunter? What?
They needed to change the over world. The patrol zone needed to be impacted by this stuff.
Exactly, the witness is dead and yet everything is whatever

@Josh55886 bro this is a terrible take, dark below was way better than a season. And permanent content is always better for the game
We had this in D1. It's called make a fleshed out mini DLC like Rise of Iron to tell a self contained story

I hit the pinnacle cap last week so I've been more focused on playing end game content for fun and starting to play less. I think like most I will start disengaging until the Act is fully released and / or we get the next big event like Solstice.
As a long term player we live off GOALS so having them time gated can be a let down
Can we have these changes put into the patrol zone? Sure they changed the Vex in the patrol but all these other changes would be very welcome.
And this isn't difficult at all, some will shout resources🤦🏾♂️

Seasonal content is not it for more and more players. Story-related fomo does not affect anyone anymore because most of the story is on youtube and not in the game anyway so there is no need to play some filler between real expansions.
I don't have a problem with the core gameplay loop. The problem I have is Pathfinder inherent structure problems and bugs, plus the plethora of bugs that are _still_ not fixed weeks after launch. Pathfinder is a very blatant throttling of bright dust acquisition.
Pathfinder was one of the worst changes they have ever made. Ridiculously unnecessary, and really limiting. Absolutely hate it.
@@FlashesSoccer011I 100% agree. It is extremely stupid. I miss being able to collect all my bounties and watching them all be completed. I also feel like it gave you one more reason to go to the tower and added a little immersion. Now it’s just some generic ass quest tree.
@Xitronix exactly. So stupid. And nothing is worse than being forced to play PVP and jump from playlist to playlist.
That pace is to do everything on my. One day off then have nothing else to do. I see where he is coming from.
If D2 is the only thing you do in your life, or the only game you play, then yeah.
Beat the campaign, saw the seasonal structure, went back to elden ring.
Destiny needs to just fade away like a bad fart in the wind. The world needs to move on.
Somethin you may have missed, Paul...the time trial activity awards double perk Dawn weapons.
Season in all but name
It's literally worse in every way. What quality are you talking about?
this is supposed to be address by Act ONE, please call things out as you experience them and not what they "eventually" become. Judge the product, not the promise
The story is not longer at all. They have not progressed it since day one. We are narratively in the same spot as when we started lol.
Destiny will never die as long as they have brainwashed players like you. 😭
The first Descendant has made a new room, with new furniture, but it has a familiar, comfy feel
They work but so many people hate on the story and characters
Can’t tell you how many comments I’ve seen hating on Osiris and saint because “their gay” or “oh great more love stuff”
The story revolves around these characters and how the vex and echo affect the characters relationship if you can’t realize that you shouldn’t be critiquing a story/ characters you fundamentally don’t even care about
The gayness really makes some people uncomfortable. I think it's a pretty good plot so far, feels unique to Saint x Osiris.
@@iponce2 that’s very ironic considering how open to lgbtq+ society has become
I mean even in this month you can donate to charities supporting them through bungie foundation and get an emblem for it
Or maybe that was last month idk
But at the same time idk why I’m surprised cuz these same people say bungie is a “woke” company any time a trans employee is shown in a stream or video
I think it’s just a stupid “critique” and that people should judge the story on quality and not just personal bias
It’s ok to not like a character but just based on sexuality is silly
Take nimbus
We don’t like nimbus cuz it’s nonbinary but cuz it told terrible jokes at terrible times and the characters genuinely had bad writing
And I’ve seen people say this saint and Osiris story is bad writing which idk how tf anyone can think these characters are on the same level of nimbus
@@iponce2 Anyone who feels uncomfortable because of an intrinsic quality has a serious mental issue.
The story is gay and lame. Cosmic galaxy wide threats, and they actually think we give af bout a gay Egyptian robot relationship as the focal point of the seasonal story lmao.
Seriously, wtf is this Marvel tier tension and story writing? Are we supposed to even soak in the fact that we just beat one of the big bad villains of this decade-long saga? (Not like witness was even a concept or character until witch queen lol). I guess it works simply for the fact that destinys' story has been shit from the very first release date.
@@panzershreck8077 thanks for proving my point 👍
Never thought Id see "disappointed" and "destiny" in the same sentence.
... oh wait.
I don't understand people's dissatisfaction with the Episode. I just don't.
We just got the final act of the Light and Dark saga in an expansion. Of COURSE the "seasonal" content that followed was not gonna hit the same levels of quality and excitement/engagement as that.
Why don't we all take a breather and just enjoy it rather than doom-mongering and freaking out?
I mean we did have to pay full price for the annual pass to get this half baked season. This is on top of paying for final shape which if you think about it, it didn't bring that much either for the asking price. If you really think about it they're drip feeding a story that is not even that long it only gets dragged out because of all the tedious chores you have to do to even get a story beat.
People are taking a breather. They are finally leaving playing this dogshit game. Have fun having every aspect of what you paid for timegated!
@@josephbiden568just to clarify: who forced you to buy TFS with the annual pass? did bungie reach over and grab your credit card, or was it someone else, a youtuber perhaps? No of course it wasn’t. To remind you, YOU decided that content would be worth your money. You’re opinion on whether the content is ‘worth it’ having now played it has no bearing on any of that either. It amazes me that some people even these days will preorder things and then be upset if/when the thing they bought doesn’t live up to the value that they personally think it has; it is entirely on the consumer to judge whether that thing is worth your money, no matter how ridiculous the pricing might be (and I totally agree that games now becoming too costly).
"I don't understand people's dissatisfaction with Episodes." *proceeds to perfectly explain why some people are dissatisfied with episodes.* | Maybe it's just me, but Season of the Witch and Season of the Seraph felt epic, even compared to their respective expansion packs. Episodes haven't felt like much of anything; maybe that's just us coming down from the high of fighting the Witness, but it's still where we are. Or maybe it would be better to say that, for my part, Episodes just aren't very *engaging.*
@@asaabed4200 Did you just say that I'm not entitled to tell a company how shit their product is? Are you serious? Buying a product from a company or even investing in a company gives you all the right to tell them how their product is. And the point of mentioning how shit this episode is and the price tied to it is because we essentially paid a price for something and it was sub par. If I decided to pre-order it or not and took the risk it doesn't change the fact that they didn't change a thing from the seasonal model and it is not good. And it's a hobby so it's not like I'm gonna die from the money I gave bungie but you have to point out when something is a ripoff not cope and defend them.
The acts feel like seasons stretched out longer. Nothing about the story structure has changed, besides the time line it’s done over. Big sad
Stopped playing this expansion faster than the last one, I'll get my money's worth but as a titan prismatic isn't great and the exotic class items being locked behind a double mission is possibly the dumbest thing Bungie has done
Playing destiny without a single friend to play with is crazy. Use the in game lfg
Lfg is hell@@Monkeyman-qt1sm
@@mauricegreen5321 it’s not like you’re doing a raid, you don’t even gotta use a mic, and there is an lfg built in game. I’ve used it for nightfall and it’s fine🤷🏻♂️
What a whiny little man
@@Monkeyman-qt1smYou do need mics (at least for consoles) for dual destiny in order to communicate the stupid puzzles. The reward is not worth doing mental gymnastics for hours on end just to get dicked by the abysmal RNG combinations. I'd rather do most raids than deal with that mission.
I’m having fun with the game still but this episode’s narrative just isn’t doing it for me currently. I was actually surprised when I did this week’s seasonal content and realized I was already out of steps cause I didn’t feel like any progress was made at all story wise.
I miss having a roguelike game mode that made buildcrafting really exciting and fun. There aren't enough modes that give us interesting and meaningful buffs/changes to how skills/weapons can be utilized. We need a permanent activity like the Coil.
Sounds like Bungie writers have Rumiko Takahashi syndrome where they don’t know how to truly end a story. When your story is written around generating money, its just bad financial practice to end the story. So stall and timegate so you can make more money. Trickle it so that you can the lights on. Bungie has been bad with money before, so I’m not surprised.
It’s hard to gauge now. They’ve already committed to making changes so I guess we have to wait until those changes are implemented to make comments.
I see no value on feedback from a person who considers "The first descendant" a good game
The raid experience killed episodes for me.
Branch out!
No thanks.
I’m so glad the first episode is the guardian being a third wheel
I’d put money on the conductor being a jealous Saint-14 from this timeline or something
As one of the people who hasn't opened Destiny 2 in weeks, here's my reasons why:
- I work full time and the last thing I wanna do is come home and sit at another desk after doing that all day
- What are we fighting for now? The Witness is gone, I just don't see any reason to check out the new loot when, as a non-raider, there's nothing to fight for. Difficult situation for the Bungie story people because how do you possibly follow up the Final Shape without just making the Witness 2?
I’ll never understand where people are getting the whole “Episodes will be completely different than seasons” they LITERALLY never said that, all they ever said was “switching up delivery cadence and give us more time to create better content” or something similar.
I imagined the ending of Destiny 2 in the following way -Campaign:Discovering his weakness and make him force him to seek refuge
Vex Season: An unexpected and urgent threat, with no time to lose / frenzy to wipe out millions of Vex / To finally put a new order to the Vex now commanded by a human mind
Fallen Season: Redeem Eramis and make our army bigger against the witness
Hive Season: Completely defeat Xivu and completely eradicate the old hive pantheon/ With Savatun leaving the system or definitively joining the final fight
End of Destiny 2 Begin our final advance against the Witness, with all our new abilities and a complete understanding of what it means to wield light and darkness.
Become Legend by traveling out Sol system 😢
PD: Nimbus Die instead of Cayde ❤
Going from the Witness who was semi-fully fleshed out. To "The Conductor" who hasn't even been seen yet makes it feel empty. The VEX have always been my least favorite and this is not helping their case.
For me its rebranded seasons. I play as content comes. There are other games out there.
Taking a break. I’ll come back at some point before Act 3 to get the special sidearm and catch up on Act 2.
