    my father, now retired, worked on the design of the M88 engine at the SNECMA (now SAFRAN) factory. I remember when I was a teenager and he took him to the Paris Air Show every year to admire these legendary planes, Rafale, Mirage 2000, etc...

    RAFALE C from the 30 ième escadre de Chasse Normandie Niemen.
    The different versions of the RAFALE used in the french army air force :
    RAFALE C one seat version, used by french army air force. C for COMBAT, means fight, it can do all types of mission, nuclear too.
    RAFALE B, the two seats version used by franch army air force B for BIPLACE means two places, it can do all types of mission, nuclear too. .
    RAFALE M, M like MARINE means naval version, the heaviest one, only in one seat version, exclusively made for the naval aviation for using on the french aircraft carrier the Charles de Gaulle, it can do all types of mission, nuclear too. It has a landing hook, a most resistance structure for confronting the hard landings on aircraft carrier, and a nose landing gear reinforced.

      FYI pretty sure the Rafale C stands for "Chasseur" (hunter)

      @@lordtemplar9274 Yes, you have fully right, C for Combat, this denomination was for the older planes, for the RAFALE C means Chasseur so Hunter. It had existed the RAFALE A it was the first demonstrator equiped with american turbo engine, it was more longer, and a D version, only during the essay for DISCRET means DISCREET it's because the RAFALE is half stealth.

      @LOLO / VAL And the version M had 13 attachment points for armement the B and C have 14. It's for keeping the equilibre when it lands on an aircraft carrier if he had used only one missile. On the M version, the cruiser missile must be attached on the fuselage in the other versions, you can carry two cruise missiles, one under each wing.

      @jeannezehner9450 Před rokem +1

      @LOLO / VAL The RAFALE has no weapons bay like the F-22, F-35, SU-57, so it's less stealthy because it must carry its armement outside, so you can detect it. It is more stealthy when it has no weapons and no fuel tanks, but you can do nothing.
      however, it can shift his radar signature with its stealth in this case it's more difficult to locate it with precision. It can cut his radar and navigate with its OSF system that reinforce its dicretion. In fact it's semi stealth, It's the reason why is not classified in the fifth generation military jet but in the 4+++.

      C’est la même chose pour les autres avions non ? Pour le F35 c’est même pire. Une fois qu’on lui met des réservoirs externes ou le pod sniper il devient détectable par les radars. Sachant que de par sa structure c’est un fer à repasser…..

      @@olivevitamins1115 en même temps c’est pas très compliqué d’être plus agile que le F35. Existe t’il seulement un avion qui soit moins agile que le F35 ? Peut être un ULM et encore…..
