    I really appreciate the “up to 3 xl” sizing option! I am a size 46 in pants (thanks mom for the very large hips!) and it really frustrates me when patterns on Etsy just go up to 44. I can adjust the patterns to my size just fine, but I would much rather just be included from the beginning on any given pattern than have to make do on my own! So this is just to say thank you for being mindful of that! I recall you mentioning in a video that sizing patterns to bigger numbers was not something you ever learned in school and that you were having to do a lot of studying on that on your own, so I appreciate a lot the effort and concern to include us “large-hipped” gals! will certainly be buying your patterns not only because they are very pretty but because they take into consideration my size as well! :)

      it’s a “3XL” but that means an 88cm waist, which is my waist size as a L-XL (12-14 US). i am by no means “big” (used neutrally) or what most people would consider a 3XL. idk if it’s because i’m new to sewing and sewing patterns, but “3XL” doesn’t seems very size inclusive as a US 12 is the smallest size in most plus-size clothing ranges. it can definitely go bigger /nm

    Hey!! About the stretching seams on the bias, I think it was Morgan Doner that explained this on a video, but if you sew a bias edge to a straight grain edge it will stretch less that sewing bias with bias

      @THISISKACHI  Před 3 lety +6

      Yes totally, I think it's just way harder to match the sides together 😅 as one stretches out and the other one doesn't

    hello, a question: haven't you calculated the seam allowances for the weir band?

  • @slaveNo-4028
    @slaveNo-4028 Před 3 lety +3

    I've watched so many explanations about grainline and how the fabric behaves but I still don't get it, especially with the circle skirt. I understand the bias stretches more, and I also saw somewhere that with a circle skirt, where it's on the grainline there will be less flares and where there's bias there will be more flares. But why is one seam of her skirt on the bias and one on the grain? Will each piece have one side bias and one side grain since it's a quarter or whatever of a circle? Right now I can't really invest in the pattern, maybe that would clear things up a bit. Anywas, sewing is so confusing imo and has a lot more depth to it than people generally give it credit for. You need to understand how 3d objects work in 2d and vice versa and also theres a bunch of maths and technical stuff involved. Also it looks very stressful/fiddly in some instances where you have a bunch of different things going, like even just watching someone sew a button up collar, or where she sews the slit and zip. It looks stressful, I'm not even close to that level yet and already struggling lol

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, you said it completely right - because it's just a slice of the full circle, the pattern will have one seam in the straight grain and one seam on the bias, as it will be cut at a 45° angle. And if you cut out all the other pieces according to the arrow on the pattern, you will get matching seams on the straight grain and the bias. 😊

      @@THISISKACHI thx for the reply, is it 1.5 m width fabric? how many panels your cutting is? I still don't understand the purpose of so many panels instead of making only 2 big panels then sew it together for circle skirt...

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  Před 3 lety +2

      It's on 1,40m width. You can't fit the 2 panels on normal fabric, that's why it's pieced like that 👌🏻
