My name is Shanna and I’ve lived in Sacramento Ca. For over a decade and I got to tell you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for yours and the K9’s courage and actions. I’m glad that technology has advanced but when I saw that video of Kyle running toward the suspect I was absolutely shocked. I look forward to the day when the earth will no longer be filled with wicked people and it will be a peaceful paradise. Ps 37:29 “The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.”

Thanks for sharing your and Axel's story. I teared up. And totally understand the PTSD you got from that.
I'm just a house-wife, but I get the symptoms you described. Molested as a kid and have had those kinds of panic situations at certain times. A lot of people quietly deal with this stuff.
I love that you are making such an effort to normalize talking about mental health in your field.
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sure many people, inside and outside law enforcement can learn from it.

Great podcast; my daughter is a LEO who's dealt with some crap. I will check with her on what type of counseling she is receiving. I'll encourage her to listen. She talks with me some... very proud of her.

You can also go through C.O.P.S. concerns of police survivors for EMDR treatment... thank you for sharing your story. It's not easy dealing with trauma I've had my own experiences and it's a lifelong struggle. Again thanks for sharing

Completely different topic, but I think it goes with what was discussed about checking in on your buddies at work, or school or what not, but my high school football team had a psychological therapist guy come in and talk to us separately before practice once a week. He would ask how we were doing and feeling, and a lot of us said we were fine, but when we said it he followed up with, "No, seriously. How are you really feeling." I'll never forget all of us in the meeting room together before practice emotional because of how a lot of our brothers were really feeling. That practice ended up saving 3 or 4 of our guys from ending everything.

01:08:22 Men get more emotional for 3 reasons 1) Oxytocin release increases with age. You actually feel more. 2) With experience comes compassion. 3) Modern men are encouraged to show emotions. Congratulations for being human. :D
