- Hello everyone,
When I was a kid, my dad has told me about the reduction of manpower of traditional trades due to the industrialization and modernization of Japanese society, traditional products started to become out-dated and forgotten.
#japanesewoodworking #HakoneMarquetry #woodworkingsatisfied
However, they’re still young people who spend all of their careers to carry on the tradition. We'd like to honor them as much as we can. So I decided to create a series of video shows about them and their work from the footage available from my friends and myself.
Today, This video will be more attractive because I have edited the script, rewrote the content, new voices were recorded, new effects work, new music, new footage added and a new creation is created as follows: "Amazing Young Hakone Marquetry Craftsman: Kojima Yuhei - Extremely Satisfied For Woodworking"
This time our main character is a Young Hakone Marquetry Craftsman: Kojima Yuhei
In the previous video, we have seen how Hakone Yosegi-zaiku is made from the traditional craftsmanship of the master craftsmen.
In this video, let's find out how young people in Japan inherit and promote it.

I find it so reassuring that a young man is continuing this craftsmanship tradition, there are so many being lost due to disinterest and profit minded youth. Please stay with this and continue this wonderful artwork.
well said! I appreciate that!
Wow, I really love the craftsmanship I have seen out of almost any and all of the Japanese people. They are amazing!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The Japanese and Swiss are simply awesome when it comes to precision! Bravo! As an Albanian who was born in Switzerland, I am fascinated by the ability of the Swiss and the Japanese are also efficient and hardworking.
🇯🇵🎌🇨🇭🇨🇭❤️
Thank you very much!
Having tried to do a very simple veneer project last week and failed rather miserably, these guys have my greatest respect!
Hold on, don't be too hasty...haste makes waste!
What a pleasure to watch, a handsome young man applying himself to quality workmanship.
What an simple yet delicate technique. As a carpenter I appreciate videos like this. I wish we had that much pride in any trade in the US. 6 months just to see if he would get a chance for internship! Kids these days don't want to wait a week, nor would have that much interest or drive.
Simplesmente um verdadeiro show
Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
There's no artificial man-made material that can have that magical shine of the wood grain when the light hits it.
What an absolute delight to watch this beautiful craft being passed to younger people who have a passion for it!
MatchstalkMan Kinda gives you hope that these things will continue for the right reasons
Vedere certa gioventù che pratica queste Arti con il legno è meraviglioso.
Whenever I think that I will just put one of these on while I work on other things, I end up just sitting here watching, totally mesmerized. And I regret nothing!
Wow.. when skills and machine work together.
Sheer Beauty. Thank you so much for sharing this.
What a talented young man, he is going to be a absolute master of his trade in no time. I really love how he is that talented and is not afraid to ask for help or a confidence boost.
Thank you very much!
this is beautiful work, . . . detail and perfection "god level"
And I can’t cut a decent dovetail yet, absolutely beautiful.
What an amazing job! In the last decade, I've been admiring the patience and craftsmanship of the Japanese and to this day, I remained a big fan... I have so much respect to the people of Japan. One day, I hope to be able to travel and see Japan.
Cool, thanks! I hope that you can make it
Nice job !!! PERFECT !!! Talent !!!
Brilliant work Kojima

This guy has a great skill level in this craft, it actually makes a refreshing change to see someone who is choosing a specialist career and keep this fascinating craft alive. A sincere congratulations on his work, I would like to know where I might be able to buy one of those boxes( providing that I can afford one or two) . Thank you so much for sharing this video..... Mesmerising skilful Art form. Thank-you for showing the Artisans of Art forms.
our pleasure
Dear Sir,
It's an absolute pleasure to watch craftsmen at work especially when they keep an age old tradition alive. I can see & understand why this young apprentice wants to devote his life to this craft; it's not only fascinating but addictive I would hazard to guess. Wonderful yet again. Kind regards.
Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for our hearted response; it's always with great delight to witness something done with such finesse when the order of the day is usually rather crude by comparison. Kind regards.

عمل رائع وفي منتهى الإتقان.
صبر العامل أسفر عن تحفة جميلة جدا.
ما أجمل العمل اليدوي.
big respect to this person and what they are doing!
Had it not been for this video I would have never heard this beautiful piano music. I found it on Shazam and I’m going to purchase it. So in a way that’s good for the artist.
This is a very interesting video. I like the way these are made. Have always wondered how this was done. Thank you.
Maravilloso arte
Beautifully crafted!

Bonjour. Vidéo très intéressante. Merci.
It is nice seeing craftsmanship being passed on. The boxes are really beautiful ❤️ and it was relaxing to watch
Glad you enjoyed it!
No hacía falta ver las caras para saber que estamos hablando de artesanía japonesa. Esa intensa atención al detalle, casi zen, es inconfundible.
That was beautiful
Exelente trabajo y sumamente satisfactorio a la vista 👏👏👏
Mind blowing.
That is extremely cool…
glad you like it!
watching this kind of videos about Japanese is so satisfying, and I don't even know why those are so damn satisfying like that.
Trabalho magnífico. Parabéns.

Amei amei amei parabens show
Fantastic Congratulations
you just have to love the Japanese !!!! Greetings from Albanian❤️👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇱
you're welcome
A wonderful video and many thanks for making it for us. Such a tranquil pursuit with enormous attention and dedication - alas there's not so much of that in our society. I can only wonder how much more effort was required many years ago without the benefit of machinery. Cheers from Sydney, Aust - Dave
Well said Dave, Glad you enjoyed it!
Good to see Asians practicing trades instead of stressing out about school and being some important business man
Love it
The Best 🙏
Beautiful
Thank you
Stunning work, I understand now why this stuff is expensive... Next visit to Japan I have to buy a piece, it's art.
Well, I'm glad you liked it and hope you will have a very pleasant journey.
@@WoodworkingEnthusiasts , Thank you so much, I have a trip planned for January so lets all hope we can travel again by then. I really do want a piece of this amazing woodwork, the skill of it's creation is astounding! :)
Wow! And I really thought the designs were printed. That's an amazing box to put my fighting spiders in it. It would be nice to wrap Christmas gifts using these boxes too and these are delicately-made crafts to throw away. So I think these would stay displayed somewhere in the house like branded shopping bags.
That would be cool!
Very nice work brother .....i like that.
Glad you like it
Fantástico.
Trabalho lindo
Beautiful work... I love the machines he's using, especially that slicing machine. Never seen anything like that before. I know from my own marquetry workshop that it takes many years to work out the techniques that will give you that level of perfection. The key is good planning and cut out the guesswork. The quality is second to none...
Nice
Thanks
muito bacana
Olá, belo trabalho, esta de parabéns, qual o tipo de cola que vocês usam para colar as marchetaria, desde de já obrigado.
In a world where so much of what we encounter every day is cheap and mass-produced, it is amazing to see something so beautiful and unique handcrafted by a passionate artist.
Congratulation 👍
Sin palabras.
Quanta delicadeza e beleza!
i need me one of these boxes
Vc é bom
Having had a significant tablesaw accident with the fingers of my left hand last year, I had a mild heart attack at 3:30. Lordy - it's only a matter of time (I have *many* years of experience and am very careful but it only took a lapse of care of about 0.5 of a second...). Stay safe folks - please don't be doing this! Cheers from Sydney - Dave
I totally agree!
Your story same as me..in the blink of an eye i lost 2 finger on my left hand bcoz of little mistake..even an experienced worker sometimes cannot avoid it..
@@miedkumpaw90 I'm sorry to hear that. It's a traumatic experience isn't it? While I didn't lose any fingers, I almost did and after 3 hours of surgery, 100 stitches and 6 months of serious rehab, I have limited function in some of my fingers and life is not quite the same. I am also a serious semi-professional pianist - it's a long journey back (almost there). Watching this young guy seriously upset me as no doubt it did you too. Take care my friend and cheers - Dave
@@uweziegenhagen1038 Hard to watch eh?

Japanese people are just creative of a different level.
Thank you very much!
@@WoodworkingEnthusiasts You're most welcome!
What angle is the table saw jig set at? 30 degrees? Thank you
The piece you made 8:24 mark is absolutely beautiful, how much would that cost?
Without the music it where much better!
llama tanto la atencion el arte, como su corte de pelo
Wizard👍🤗🤗🤗
Thanks
the background music is drowning out everything else. way to loud...
is not like it was slapped on there to prevent copyright infringement or anything. not exactly "background" music when its on top..
Turn volume down 👌
I like it!
It's stolen content. They either put music over it, play it at a faster speed, or do both so that the video isn't detected.
Beautiful music, I found it on Shazam and now I’m going to buy it.
Кропотливая работа
綺麗な
What are they dabbling the wood with?
In my next life, this is the kind of work I want to learn and do....
Why not try it in this one?
overdoneone you can do it now
It draws you into it... Either try it yourself or marry someone who does this. Ha.
harika bir iş
9:22 Wow.
Can I buy sheets of hakone so I can apply it to my own box, a bagpipe case?
