- This was my first time ever fishing Lake Pleasant in central Arizona. This lake is HUGE! I had no idea how to attack a giant body of water like this from shore, and to be honest I was very intimidated by this lake. BUT, I got out there, did some learning, and caught some bass in crystal clear water like I've never done before!
As I said above, this was my first trip, but definitely not my last! I'll be in the area for at least the next week and I've got some BIG PLANS to get some great content for you guys.

I miss my old AZ fisheries. I used to own AFN (Arizona Fishing News Magazine). Too many memories and the great legends that I did hundreds of interviews with back in the 80's and 90's: John Murray, Floyd Preas, Curt Rambo, Danny Westfall, all members of my writing staff - real pro's - great guys.

Black plastic worm/smoke or blue pearl kalins grub will put in work. Definitely have to finesse the az bass into biting. Slow and low. 🎣
Bro i grew up at lake pleasant i go there all the time and I can say its giant!!! I go to this little cove but the water receded so you gotta cross like 6 little bridge’s to get to a spot now
Pleasant is my home lake. Great lake but if you have time while you're here run over to bartlett this time of year. Caught 28 bass last weekend at the yellow cliffs area. 1 eight pounder. Pleasant is so clear right now it makes bank fishing difficult.

@@theu.s.ofangling1344 I love pleasant cause it's so close to my house and i can sight fish em with my flyrod but yeah...they are super sketchy and overfished since they closed off the back side of the lake to even foot traffic. Pushed all the shore anglers to the same spots. I will usually make the time to drive the extra miles to bartlett. Bartlett has a lot more cover for fish near shore. I've been out there the last 2 weekends slaying them with small blade 1/2oz white spinnerbaits with a green 3.8 keitech trailer and 4 inch baby bass jerkbaits or just running a straight 3.8 keitech swimbait. Lotta crappie Sonoran suckers and catfish in bartlett too. 👍good luck bro.
@@johnnyarcade7295 man I know I was bummed out I was staying at the old air strip and thought I was going to be able to fish the north side from shore. I knew they closed down part of the north side, not the whole dang thing.

Go to the bridge at the very back of the first entrance it’s a 1/4 mile hike but there’s many fish back there under the bridge
We love our AZ lakes. Just keep an eye out for the snakes this time of year.

@@theu.s.ofangling1344 If you WANT to see one you could carefully trek along the Lower Salt River between Goldfield and the Mud Cliffs. I encountered 8 of them while fishing last weekend.

It seems like you were getting some during the spawn. When they get red eyes it’s around that time.
Loosen your drag and 4 lb is plenty. I just caught an 8 lb wiper the other day with your reel (president) and 4 lb.

I'm here r n at lake pleasant. Avid fisherman from New England. Looking for tips on fishing lake pleasant and what works. Been out a few times in humbug cove but got skunked both times. Still early in the season tho so I'm not too discouraged. Gonna hit the water right now tho!

I fished the SW most cove on the whole lake. If you look at google maps you’ll see it! There is parking and trails!
Nice job! I’m currently on a mission to catch a fish in every state. I live full time in my RV and travel all over. Currently I’ve caught fish in 29 states. I’m in the Phoenix area this week and hopefully can check AZ off the list!🎣

This is on the southwest most cove on the entire lake. Right in the campground!

If you go to lake barlet or rosevelt around north Scottsdale you’ll get absolutely loaded with fish i caught a 5 pound catfish first cast

@@wyatthobbs50 man it was just recently I started eating catfish, and dang is it good! If you don’t already, try soaking the fillets in Franks Red Hot before battering. It makes it AMAZING

Where is this area at? I been going to lake pleasant and I think I have past that area but there isn’t any water there.
This the is south west most cove in the entire lake, near the dam! There is a campground that you have to walk through (they only let campers in the gates) but it isn’t too far of a walk to the water

This spot is gone, the water has dropped a TON since this video. But I fished many of these coves and had very similar results

@@JesusPerez-vd4lg I have not been to the black river! Look at the lake on google maps, the coves on the south west side of the lake near the dam is where I spent most of my time!

I believe all bass have red eyes
That was the first largemouth with red eyes that I’ve seen in a while. I catch a lot of smallmouth with red eyes though
I'm 99% sure those are small mouth bass not large mouth. Small Mouth bass are the best eating fish. Nothing like a large mouth.
We've got pitiful bass in AZ.... My fishing buddy and I have to leave the state to catch decent bass.
Pleasant is rough! Bartlett, Roosevelt and Alamo are much better .. none of them are good for bank fishing and pleasant sucks for crappie !
