I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your content! There’s tutorials that I never even knew I needed 😂 I’m so excited to start incorporating these things on my channel! It’s unfortunately rare finding concise, helpful tutorials for these things so thank you!! Keep it up!
Really cool! Did not know the color board feature can be used for face tracking, my mind is blown right now 🤯 thank you so much for this video
I love Kelli’s stuff! And as a beginner FCPx my mind is blown how cool it looks lol. I was like wow, is this all keyframed, bc sometimes the jumps come outta nowhere. But this tracker is cool.
You make this so simple... amazing. Thank you...
Such a fantastic tutorial Serge!!
Amazing tutorial Serge!
This is SOOO cool! Thank you Serge!
Excellent as ever Serge
Great video! Always learning something new from you.
Brilliant. I probably will have no use for this effect but I enjoyed the explanation and clearly seeing all the involved steps. Subscribing!
I had someone someone on my channel ask me a couple days ago if locked on stabilization was possible with the new tracker. I mistakenly said I didn't think so, lol. Guess I was wrong! Great tutorial, Serge. I'll be directing subscribers to you when they ask about this 👌
I've been looking for how to do this! Thank you!
Thank you very much, it's an amazing tutorial!
MASTERclass tutorial! Quick and effective! thank you!
Serge, you are awesome.. thank you for all of your tips!!

so clear concise and easy! Love this tutorial!!
Thank YOU for figuring this one out
thanks for the amazing tutorial. SUBSCRIBED!
I'm an experienced editor and couldn't work out how to do this. Thanks! I now want to have a play with the Kelli Erdmann masking from the early part of the clip, but feel free to put up a tutorial :)
thank you, this was very helpful.
Good job! Amazing!!!
I've try Cody Wanner's method and now yours improvement, both is great but I probably will stick with yours. Thank you.
AWESOME! Thank youuu
Damn that's amazing!! Thanks
Great!! Thank you!
Very informative content👍💯👊
you're the man serge
very useful thanks bro
very cool - great instruction and presentation. (new here). I admit, i had now Idea. Questions.. how could one have only the y or only the x asxis 'controled' by the movement
Mind blown!
I'm more amazed at how this guy figured that out! #DOPE
I know. Right?
Yes, very cool trick! For those who wanna know, the reason for flipping it is that the tracking will cancel out the movement of the original Clip, as the movement is exactly opposite to it.
Thanks, somewhat clarifies it for me. I was just thinking why doesn't the tracker automatically apply that "effect" and wondering why the hell we have to flip it
nice one mate
Great tutorial, thanks! Is there a way to track only the X axis, so that we can use it when reframing from a 16:9 to a 9:16 vid?
tnx Serge
Easily understood.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
is it possible to only lock in the tracked object horizontally (X axis) and not allow for the frame to move vertically, sort of exclude Y axis movement like you exclude rotation movement here? thanks!
I understand why the clip has to be flipped.
Basically, we don't lock the face, we move the face always in the center of the frame!
So in the original clip when the face moves up we have to move in the opposite direction to keep the face in the middle of the frame so we have to flip the clip
'Preciate you bro
I track the object perfectly and once I drag in the second clip over the tracked clip, the motion tracking box goes slightly haywire and becomes erratic when previewing the clip. Does this happen to anyone else?
Love from Bangladesh
I feel like i missed the part why we have to flip it to make this work?
Imagine the tracker is generating a set of coordinates showing where the tracking point is compared to the original position. So x=3, y=5; x=4, y=2 etc, for each frame. What you want to do is subtract those from the x/y coordinates of the whole frame so the tracking point stays at x=0 y=0 for the whole duration. FCPX doesn't have a way to do this directly, but by rotating the image, you're reversing the x and y coordinates of the tracking data (x=-3, y=-5 etc) so when you offset the x/y coordinates by that amount, it has the same effect.
My dude with the drag and drop auto facemask... here I am spending countless clicks adjusting it just right... Turns out, Siri will do it for you. Thank you.
cool yess
Really cool! Was still a mystery to me how to do this, you solved it for me, thanks! Can you elaborate on why the flipping back and forth is needed?
also wondering why the need for the flip, thanks
Explain why you flip it
Daniel Schiffer does it without flipping
Nice video! Thanks for showing it and the TikTok sample. If you watch one of the videos on forcing this to work in Motion, I think you'll see why you flip both directions. This threw me off at first as well. What you generate is the path of the the tracked object, not a stabilization. That was where my own confuse was rooted. If we track the motion of an object and apply this motion to the clip as a transform, it doubles it. In Motion, they use "negate" to remove it. You either need to track the opposite of the motion you want to remove or track the motion and apply it to a reversed clip and then fix that. It would be great if they would add a "negate" toggle like they have in Motion.
@@EkLektro just to neutralize the movement. E.g. head moves up 10cm, we flip the tracking data to - 10cm. Then the head moves ""up and down" simultaneously results in a "stagnant" motion, literally staying in position. Hope this helps
It doesnt work as of April 26th. When you go to the transform menu on the new clip to apply the face track you did earlier it no longer has a drop down menu. It is literally just gone.
How can I flip my image? I no longer have those control since getting a new M1 MacBook. Thanks in advance!
i am using fcpx 10.6.9 and after analysing the first clip when i go to transform section of 2nd clip for Tracker then it doesn't show me Tracker option....how to fix this issue? 1:46
Since it says "No plugin," I'm curious what kind of plugins are out there that do this kind of stuff. Anyone have any recommendations?
hi, when I tried it on my timeline it just does not allow me to throw the color board on the viewer so I got stuck on the first step TT
is it because of the FCPX version I have is older? I am using 10.5
thanks!
Good
Why is the flip and duplicate necessary??
Yea it seems so unnecessary, because both don't explain.
I think because the tracking is working in two different spots to create the effect. That explains as to why he duplicated the clip.
Ist sucks
Explain ist better next time
Dude!
hi im from malaysia, what version of FCPX do u used?
Do you know maybe a low price (or better free) Plugin for that?
You certainly know your FCP.
Dumb question coming as I am a novice editor. Is there a way to fine-tune the motion after the fact after it’s been run through the tracker? For instance, if I want it to go a little bit more up-and-down, than side to side, is there a way to do that or would I just have to manually keyframe the whole thing?
good question
what kind of fcpx?
I know you did it without plug ins but is there a plug in that does this?
😍
why do you have to flip the clip? I don't get it.
same ;D
your fcp version ?
Like and share👍🏻
Kelly is cool
What version of FCPX is this?!? 😫
Does it not work for you either ?
nice one Serge, one question.. selling my factory sealed MacBook Pro 13" M1 chip 16gb ram 512 ssd Final Cut Pro full version already installed.
anyone interested let me know.
doing step by step... just docent works... anyone experience the same?
I have no idea why the just did not added a complete feature which keeps the object in the middle of the screen? What the freaking magic with -100 degree rotation? O_o Thank you for the video, but in general from my beginners point of view it looks like a BS
Cool tip. But what the H kind of accent is that??
I don’t understand what’s the need of flipping clips, putting another one on top… I mean… If we put a tracker in the face then it should track and that’s it 🤦🏻♂️ I don’t understand the need of that mess in fcp.
Same question here. I’d like some explanation.
Thumbs down due to Serge not dancing for the video 😂
ridiculous that apps like tiktok are so far ahead of so called professional apps
How so? They're absolutely not.... these people edit their videos with exactly those professional apps.
Oh it’s final cut and that’s Mac stuff. Will wait for premiere pro. Good night folks.
mocha or after effects does better job.
@@kmlchnl So does Motion, but the point of the video is to do it direct in FCPX.
Nice try, but looks messy...
Great tutorial! Very helpful.
Great information! Thanks 🙏🏻
Excellent tutorial! Thank you
