Those Fleabasses are absolutely incredible!
Flea's bass tech is Roger Waters wow!
lolololololol
I laughed loudly because of you
XD
Aahahahahahah pink hot Floyd peppers
Hahahahaha
Didnt know Harrison Ford was a bass tech
Lol
fleas bitch.
Silly me I thought it was Roger Waters.
1.123 no shit
He isn't. Looks f all like him.
I can see it happening. Once you play your new strings for a few sets live, they lose the brightness. Especially if you're sweating, and Flea is quite an energetic player. Now for one, I don't want them too bright, but some might prefer that. Also, Flea used to break strings every night because of his aggressive style.
Yeah I love the bright, twangy, buzzy sound you get from brand new strings. If I had a lot of money and I was a touring musician, I'd have new strings every night for sure.
Am I the only one that thought that last line "sounds like you've got the easier job" was harsh? The guy's face dropped the instant she said that, and having less gear doesn't make it any easier - it depends on who's playing, what they're playing, and how they play. Aside from that, great video!
i dont see it. i have watched 3 times and it doesn't look like any sort of reaction.
What does she mean
Ye she definitely pissed him off there, you can see it
It looked like just nervous small talk. The interviewer seemed new like she was nervous. I'm sure other than the guy running Kiedis' mic and Monitor has the hardest job. When ya get that level of teching for bands like that you gotta be on your shit so I'm sure it's stressful
I think she did it on purpose. Being rude for no reason. She is experienced enough to make such a comment unintentionally.
Poor face on Harrison Ford when Rebecca told him he had an easier job. Broke my heart! Sure, his life is easier than Ian's (Josh's tech guy) but hey, give credit where credit is due.
Being the tech for one of the founding members of the Chili Peppers is actually much more stressful than being the tech for a replacement member.
when she says u got the easier job at the very end, u can clearly see his annoyance. he was a good sport the whole time and that comment came out unintentionally douchey
useless presenter, I can think of a dozen random youtube tech guys who could ask better questions than this bitchy airhead
Billy Boy she is hot though...def would hit...
Probably how she got the job
@@billyboy5084 shut up
Well he did say first that he has the simpler job and then she said ya you got the easy job
I have played that bass, its possibly the greatest bass ever made. It plays like butter and the neck is flawless. If you ever tour all over and shell out some cash, Modulus is the way to go.
i saw this guy on monday on the rhcp - checking flea's basses - i love this guy!
"you've got the easier job" LOL
nice job insulting the guy
MarryJewana and look at the man face after that, lol
John L Completely broke the guys smile lol
+MarryJewana Considering all the shit the tech has to do, I'm not really sure if it is the easier job.
+ThatGuyBen99 ?
MarryJewana Her comment that the tech has an easier time is pretty ignorant.
I still play my Modulus Flea 4 with Lane Poors and the Aguilar preamp almost every day. 18 years. Solid bass.
Amazing basses love them
I just got the Malekko. It's amazing. It does have a volume boost in certain settings, but a Saturnworks volume Looper tames it.
Flea only uses 4 pedals :) that's brilliant
I guess the compression is a rack mount
Ive been waiting for this for years!
Wow. Use one of those amps with a 4x10 and have never gone past 8 o'clock. Can't imagine all those cabs moving that much air!
im never been so happy for a bass rundown
Hey Tracy! Good to see your still in the mix! Physic 201 rocked!!
I'd love to see these rundowns every tour the made/ make since the beginnig
Totally agreed! That would be a nice one!!
Waiting for this for so long!!! :D
What a great Tec! Knows his stuff and able to explain really well :D
Roll on Joshs rig!! haha
Saw these guys in Detroit last week. Incredibleeee
"Does it get loud up there?" *Face palm*
Me: Im sure Flea is actually a very clean guy, probably takes great pride in his instrument, treats it like his baby...Fleas bass: Tape on knobs, scratched up stickers, beaten to hell, lewd women on frontMe: Oh.
as flea stated, instruments are just tools
IT was cool to me. I Have some basses with ripped stickers and tapes For decoration. Flea inspiried me to pick up bass.
A grade report. Loved it.
where's the part that lets him play without plugging in?
Haha right!?
***** Yeah, the NFL said, play a pre recorded set or don't play at all.
***** That's a silly thing to say. A billion people climbed out of poverty in the last 15 years. That's pretty awesome. Way better then the NFL's shitty policies on live music.
At least Flea was honest about.
@premierguitar If you guys still know how to get in touch with Flea or the Chili Peppers' camp, you might wanna let them know that the Lane Poor pickups that are "sadly no longer available" are once again available through an apprentice of Lane Poor's. They are now called Legacy Pickups, and the pickups have the same famous sound of the originals. They have a Facebook page (search for Legacy Pickups) and can be contacted there.
Yes!
Flea's bass tech looks like Harrison ford and sounds like Billy sheehan...what universe am I in right now ._.
He also looks a bit like Roger Waters
I first thought it was Bruce Dickinson..
we tune it to drop DDEEEEEE 2:30
I'll take some day old bass strings.
Seth Johnston I
Arena gigs are fascinating
BadAss Bridge...Luv it
Flea's video takes seven minutes. Josh's takes a half an hour. Wow.
Short and simple
+Anthony Mc and sweet
Haha right?? He has like 10x the gear and effects haha
amazing.....
The interviewer had great questions! Thank you for this!
Respect for Australia's traditional land owners. After all he was born here.
+Sim o respect for all aussies....growing up with funnel webs is a nightmare.
No Funnel Webs at my place just Red backs there everywhere.
Yes.. I was well pleased with that.
You won’t believe me but I went to school with him.
Rebbeca durst owned rig rundown ,,she asked all the relevant questions ,and she looked nice in a t shirt
Right? I don't care for the new guy.
Gotta love the surprise bass vi
love modlus basses
wow. ive waited for this my whole life. :)
Cool!
No wonder he changes the strings everyday with GHS boomers
As someone who doesn't play bass could you explain why? Are those strings known for being changed often?
+chomplu they're the cheapest of the cheap
+Sam Davies I don't even see the point of changing them EVERY day
That's 364 more sets per year than I go through.
had a set of GHS boomers flea signature, and the G string snapped which you would of thought would be one of the strongest as its meant to be popped but it broke on me , was disappointing especially if its suppose to be fleas signature haha
Change the strings everyday. Jeeeeeeeez
Which also demonstrates that GHS suck.. (besides Flea being rich)
@@Libanass other pros do that as well. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden for example, got his strings changed before every performance.
Regular gigging takes a lot out of the strings.. If the gear is indoors then they don't need a string change that frequently but those that gig 300 days a year, now they would definitely need string changes
agreed man! there's nothing like the sound of an untouched 1961 jazz bass..
Most touring guitarist, and some bassist, change strings everyday. It's not unheard of.
I do think it's unnecessary though, especially with bass guitars. A good set of bass strings could last you over a year!
Not trying to put down Flea or anything, I'm a big RHCP fan, and he's one of my biggest inspirations to pick up the bass. I just think it's a little pointless to change them every day. And expensive!
BillyBob Keith I change my strings every month on my Jazz. Sometimes after 3 weeks (if there's a studiojob or w/e). I currently study music and I love a set of fresh strings. After a month they turn dead to me, so a year is very undue.
Alright I agree a year is probably too long to wait. They do start to sound dull after a certain amount of time, however they do last forever.
But changing them every day hardly gives you enough time to even wear them in. :P
That seems like buying a new pair of shoes every day.
BillyBob Keith They dull very quickly if you play them hard like Flea does. Round wounds pretty much start dying as soon as you open the packet.
BillyBob Keith i change my strings almost every month if not two. and i dont play in a band or play live. i play at most 3 hours a day 4-5 days a week. changing the strings every day isnt that much of a hassle when you make thousands of dollars a show and can get your strings practically for free. changing strings once a month keeps your guitar sounding fresh and clean. and how do you go a year without changing strings?! my strings get dirty in a months time.
welcome back Rebecca !!
I think the Fleabass at 3:22 is the bass he uses in the "Look Around" video.
hes used gk for years, hes only used acoustic amps a few times, seen them twice recently and he had that gk rig on stage
I love that Big Box Q-Tron. Unfortunately they don't make them any more. Although I do have one :D
PG posted a photo of Josh's pedalboard a few days ago, so I can only assume the video is on the way!
yea, that was a huge discussion over at Talkass. I guess he bought the Acoustic amps for more personal usage like at home or something? who knows, Maybe he just went back to the GK since it's what he knew and has worked for him for so many years
How often are you playing gigs? And where do you keep your guitar when you aren't playing it?
wow, thanks for this one :)
for every song a unique bass :DD thats how i like it :D hes a boss :)
A simple quality rig, I like it! I only wish they'd shown the baby blue bass on the far right.
finally flea rig rundown
Hell yeah Gallien Kruger!
flea is both a great player and human being
Awesome episode. Les Claypool Rig Rundown, please?
Good job Rebecca. Your eyelash batting towards the end almost took my mind off that sexy cabinet wall of Flea.
Almost.
I use the same strings!!!
I usually keep mine in the cases if it's really humid, and I play gigs once or twice a month. I usually change my strings once a month. When you start gigging you'll want to change them often, especially if they get rusty. After playing all night on old rusted strings, you're likely to break one, and that's no fun.
Como tiene la pedalera configurada? Tiene algo enchufada al loop fx?
I'm addicted to these rig rundown videos. they're amazing and honestly the best interviews I've ever watched, but this lady has so many awkward pauses. Wish all the interviews could have the guy from the Green Day and Dillinger Escape Plan video. he asks such good questions, he rules.
They should do more bass rig videos
nice pedals
The way this guy says ‘yeah’ is very satisfying
My approach is a wee bit less brutal. I tune up, do a couple bends on the 12th fret, retune, bend, retune, bend and after a few of those reps, it stays in tune.
they should do his hearing protection
awesome girl
Plenty of proffesional players do that. To maintain the brightness they love. It goes very quickly when using roundwounds
I love this girl.
Does he still use the modulus live or does he use the fender nowadays? And does he like it better than say the modulus or the old stingray basses?
Yeah, And the one he used in slane castle?
Guys please, does anyone know what kind of leather strap is that? I wanna invest in something good cause I broke mine which was stock, this one looks comfortable
More than likely it's a Levy's. I've had one just like it for many, many years.
Wonder what the stickers were on Flea's main modulus bass? Haha
Josh's will be up soon. They posted on FB last week they just got done shooting his rig. With time my friend
Hey what happened to the Stingray and Sterling basses?
Flea still rocks of course
josh is coming soon! they announced it on their facebook (:
Flea had like a hundred amps in vienna on the 21st November this year it was so awesome I still have a tinnitus
Yeah, they ship everywhere I think.
Regarding Lane Poor pickups~ They're back in production, so they very much can be found.
THOSE COLORS ON HIS BASSES AAAAAHHHH
haha nice dude!! yeah, we all want this for years, every video that he does always theres one top comment asking him to show the gear, so u were very smart.. xD
Flea has so much basses and i see him almost always with his sunburst modulus bass xDD
Badass
Please tell us you're doing Josh's rig next!
This guy seems really cool, too bad Flea didn't do his own gear video though, that woulda been awesome.
I always remember flea playing a musicman. That's why I wanted one as a kid... now I want the flag one as an Aussie
Huge difference there.
Biggest ERG-band defo is Deftones, where Carpenter goes with 3-4 designated guitars, 7 or 8 strings. A set of strings costs around 7€, 28€ per gig if they change every night. Strings tear extremely slowly when not used, so I doubt they change their backup guitars untill after they've been actually used.
Bass strings on the other hand costs 15€ per pack, and with 4-5 basses used per gig... 75€ per gig spent on strings alone.
Tal Brink, I actually think he sounds more like Seth MacFarlane.
Yes. We want a Chappers Rig Rundown. Maybe even full band would be cool.
What happened with his Boss ODB3?
what mics have the first modulus ?
Pease! The Offspring's (Noodles + Dexter + Greg K) Rig Rundown!! Bitte, s'il vous plaît, por favor!!
does flea use a jazz or precison pick up?
This guy has a definite “star quality” to him
She´s also a Hot Chili Pepper
I get it
+Filz lois the old guy barebacked her good i reckon
Nope, not even dumbass
That Bass VI
With Rebecca!
I love how Flea is so simple.
