That driver did a great job of getting out of there without causing any damage, and your standing there filming and laughing at him. if you are going to film him at least call the video something more realistic like "great skills by hgv driver who gets out of a tight spot without causing damage" and don't just stand there and laugh, put yourself in his shoes, also why should he loose his license for taking a wrong turning and going somewhere too narrow, i bet you should have lost your license loads of times then.

***** ....Lorry driver did a great job manoeuvring a 40 ft lorry with inches to spare ...Pity the camera 'man' couldn't operate his phone camera with the same precision. I've just taken my seasickness pills and feel better now...and I have Adblock turned on :-)

Typical deluded person with the camera, got to lose his licence? What, for taking a wrong turn?
I'm a class 1 driver and believe me, like that driver have taken wrong turns several times but all you do is stay calm and deal with it.
Both that driver and myself have probably done more miles going backwards than the guy who thinks he should lose his licence for merely taking a wrong turn but then having the skills, excellent and experience to get out of it without even touching a kerb.
      Well done driver 👌

"Gotta lose his license for that" - what a prick... If you've never been to a certain city before, you HAVE to rely on a HGV GPS, this day and age, but even HGV GPS can get things wrong, trust me, it's happened to me on quite a few occasions. If you don't know the city, dont know the roads and are relying on a GPS, when it goes wrong, do you really think you should lose your license? It's called a mistake, Also, what you don't realise is what it feels like to be driving down a road just to suddenly realise that you can't go any further with 40ft of trailer behind you. You can't go back because of cars behind you, you can't turn around because of your size, what do you do?
If you were a cleaner, I wouldn't piss on the floor to make your job harder, why do people insist on making ours harder than it already is.

"Gotta lose his licence for that" For following a road past the Star hotel and the army careers office that starts off wide enough for the world and his wife? then suddenly goes into a stupid right hand bend that suddenly bends into a street barely wide enough for a Minibus? With no weight, width, or unsuitable for HGV warning? Makes you laugh. The old road used to carry on straight over the padestrean area past the left side of the bargate next to Burger King before this dumb council and Jackie Rayment decided to padestreanise the old wide road that ran straight through and instead sent all vehicles to turn right into the skinny little East Street permanently because they can't go straight on. Solent Blueline Bristol VR buses used to pass the Star hotel and head on past the Bargate. The people taking the mickey aren't mature enough and havn't been around here long enough to understand how East street was f***ed up like this by our blind sighted council.

The fault here is not the drivers but the fault of the companies traffic office for not routing the vehicle properly and sending the correct length of trailer for this drop. Had a shorter trailer been used, the driver would have had next to no trouble getting that vehicle around that turn. ALL credit goes to the driver! I would like to think that the driver gave his traffic manager a good mouthful when he got back!

In any case the cameraman is a dick for filming this and laughing. As others have said, even Truck GPS get thing wrong sometimes and if it's one's first time at that place, what can you do? Imagine the way the lorry driver must have felt, with everyone either getting in the way, or giving instructions despite not having a clue about HGVs, and on top of that some clown with a camera videoing the whole thing. The driver did well to keep cool and get the lorry straightened up. The police woman was just waving her hands around uselessly. The idiot who said he should lose his licence for this, is a complete w****r, who would probably not have what it takes to pass an HGV test in the first place. By the way, I drove HGVs for 45 years and been in a few sticky situations myself.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t
    @1ns4ne1d10t Před 7 lety +2

For all the Unprofessional drivers out there: East Street Southampton does not have ANY warning signs warning Heavy Goods vehicles the following right hand bend is: 1. "6-6" width 2. "Unsuitable for HGV's" or 3. "3.5T" East Street is not wide enough for full sized Coaches or full sized Trucks when cars/vans are occupying spaces on both sides of East Street. But drivers who do not know this city are not warned of this by ANY pre-signage whatsoever. There are no signs by the Dolphin hotel or near the holy rood church warning large vehicles that the next right hand turn into East Street is 6-6/Unsuitable for HGV/3.5T in the next 200 yards. Southampton City council havn't learned any lessons from these mistakes and they won't put any signage up to lorry warn drivers. Everybody blames a large vehicle driver but we shouldn't lay the blame on the drivers we should be questioning the council's. Like Winchester City council at Charity Stoke who only warn drivers of the 11-3ft 'low bridge' when they drive in from the Charity Stoke end of the junction but guess what? They don't warn drivers who drive in at the Micheldever end of the road junction. I soon found that out when I had an 11ft 11 Beulas MAN with passengers on board.

  • @Whothefuckdrivesastationwagon

Why is the WPC there trying to bank him out when she doesn't know what to do?. His main concern is the bollard on his blindside. These people that think they know how to bank a HGV out of a tight situation when they haven't got their Cat C+E are a liability and add confusion into the mix. I tend to lose confidence with any banks man or woman who disappears from my mirrors.

I had a look on Googlemaps I don't see any width or weight restriction signage leading up to that road. This was not really the drivers fault or the bikers as some of the more ignorant on here are trying to say. The bikes where all within the designated parking area. The issue here is no signage and having any sort of parking area on the side of the road where a lorry may need to swing in, this 1 is down to the morons that plan our road layouts, parking and signage and from what I hear its not the first time.

Seems like the council have gone just a tad OTT and they succeeded in making it utterly impossible for an artic to get through . I can't imagine that much street furniture would help a large Fire Aerial Ladder Platform get through if they had to in an emergency. You'd think the council would consider that 'one off' scenarios might happen or need to happen and allow for them. Fair play to that HGV driver for keeping his calm even in the face of people laughing at him........that must have taken some self control on his part.

This is a great bit of driving the shop should tell the company that deliver there goods to the store that thay must only sent a max 10.5 tones wagen as the hgv will not fit. The driver did a great job revirsing how meny of you people as this good as this guy with a 32 tone hgv.

Bollards and bins on both sides should be moved further back. They do not help in anyway. The driver can then achieve a better lock for moving forward and reversing. Council planning at its best. Councils want jobs and shops, however hinder deliveries with stupid road layouts. Dangerous and brains spring to mind here.

5:25 why are the coppers telling him to pull to the left hand side, the complete opposite to where he should of been. Well done to the fellow wagon driver giving you some advice and well done drive for getting it out with no damage. Looks like he way fairly heavy and them deaf gearboxes aren’t great for such manovers

Before someone want's to say the last driver done it ok, we are all human and therefore different. True we all passed the same hgv test but I have seen many car drivers over the years who all passed the same car test struggle to park a car either in a car park or a 30ft gap at the side of the road, like I said I feel sorry for the driver the easiest solution would have been to just pick the bikes up and turn them kerbside

I feel sorry for the driver, others have said he did well getting out of it but did he? he obviously has to go that way and has still got to make that turn. Surely the best approach would be for the council to either get rid of the taxi rank on the left before the turn or get rid of the posts, bin, pointless loading bay (only big enough for a car) and move the motorbike parking further down then at least the trucks that are needed to deliver to stores can get in and out.

Unfortunately Lorry drivers are in position where if they make mistake then they have a massive pressure on it.
Normally you have to be very calm and concentrate!
This situation is very stressful for him that's why he is not performing well and making mistake.

Feel sorry for the driver he's probably the only one there with an understanding of how the artic will steer and he's having to take help of people how don't seem to understand how an artic moves. Get 4 people for a start and move those bikes to prevent damage to property.

Firstly I would NOT work for LIDL as they are a SHIT company to work for so that is a NO NO to start with, I myself would NOT have gone down that road unless I had a 10 mtr trailer, but fair play to the driver!! he did well! as for the twat filming who had nothing better to do plus the cops waving their arms he didnt know which way to turn! also I would not have gone down that road especially town center with a 40 footer !! even the best of us can make mistakes!! but he did well!!!

Before you start to call him bad and laugh at him try to do it yourself, most people cant even reverse with a 3 foot waggon on their car, then try it with a truck atleast 30 times as large and heavy

@1.24 there seems to be a guy with a motor cycle jacket on, if he was the owner of one of the motorcycles then he needed to shift one. The Police should have man handled with the help of some other men if possible the motor cycles to allow the lorry to get a better line out of the street he was reversing from. I know before anyone says the motor cycles are heavy and awkward, but that would have allowed the driver to take a far better line and reduced all this faffing about. Its not rocket science, thats all that needed to be done.
