My favorite multi-purpose cleaning solution is equal parts isopropyl alcohol, white vinegar and water with a few drops of Blue Dawn. 🌊 Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
Lindy, I used to do that rolling up the toothpaste tube ALL the time. Well, here in NY, oftentimes the tubes are made so that you can't roll them up. But, they can be cut open to get out the last of it. Baking soda is a nice face and body scrub. Corn starch was what I patted all over my daughter when she was a baby and got prickly heat in summer. Worked like magic..my late mother-in-law told me that. I love lilacs, and I know rose water is used frequently. Dandelions were used in salad, I believe. The depression survivors were SO strong and stoic. Beans are an inexpensive and nutritious staple. You are so right..I love how you think! TFS. 🙂 Take care, and stay safe.
Rosemarie ❤
I really need to start being more Frugal, Thank you lindy ❤
Viewing this video, shows me just how fortunate this fulltimer truly is. No teeth ? No toothpaste needed to roll.
👍 Rock on 🙂.
Well you can brush your teeth plates with it still trust me I 😂
I'm broke as dirt and also a caretaker of a disabled family member so I really needed your Frugal Tips. Thank you liddy 🌸
.
This way of life may be more frugal but even more important it’s healthier and wholesome. That’s the real reason I do it!
Cornstarch is very effective in keeping you dry down there! A must for every road trip.
I had a cat that used to eat Ross petals. He would bend a rose down and take a bite out of a fully bloomed white rose.
Thank you Lindy, these tips are a great help. I have forgotten how useful these basic staples are. If you add white vinegar to laundry- you help clean the washer -laundry odors are gone and it softens like fabric softener sheets 🤗
I have all three in my cabinets. I use vinegar to soften my clothes. No more fabric softener. We used baking soda as kids to brush our teeth also.
Hi Lindy, I saw a Chinese Chef putting some cornstarch to tenderize his meat before stir frying it in the wok, which would also thicken the sauce of his preparation.
That is very true. I've done those kind of things ever since I was on my own and actually to tell you the truth, that's how it's kind of brought up so I've been doing it my whole life. Waste not what not. And I hope everybody has a blessed day.😊
I use vinegar to clean windows, my tub and shower. It also works great as a weed killer when mixed with salt and Dawn dish soap.
I do this too but never added salt…thanks 😊
Thanks Lindy…awesome video and fun sharing ideas and the bottom line is it works. ❤
Glad you and Marley took a break and stayed with Jason for lots of reasons and he was able to see how you were doing, in person and you could renergize your batteries by being with family and out of the heat…❤
❤ This is a wonderful.
Money saving video I love it.Thank you so very much for reminding that some of these things I know but sometimes we just need to be reminded...
Baking soda is my friend! Quit using toothpaste 5 years ago (yuck) and use a baking soda paste ever since. My teeth love me snd my gums are healthy. Another insightful vid!! ❤️
Good for heartburn as well . Baking soda 😋
That 2nd Product Soda Gonna be $2 now After This, & Keeps Body's ph BaLanced aLso
I use vinegar, baking soda and Dawn soap.
I brush my teeth with baking soda to whiten my teeth on occasion. The descaling of my kettle and coffee maker with vinegar is phenomenal. Keep up the good research Lindy. 🤗🤗
Baking Soda, white vinegar, and Borax. Everything dishes washing veggies n fruits, dishes, laundry, detox, body, hair, face, teeth, scrubing, stains as softener for clothes during rinse cycle.
My mexican neighbor would put rose petals in her salads.Keep cool Lindy and Marley.💕🙏
Great tips. I use baking soda. I make a paste out of it whenever I get stung by a bee. Works great. Don't laugh. I have never used cornstarch before but I am going to go get it now. Great tips. Keep them coming thank you
Me too 😊
That’s good idea I’ve seen on Amazon a thing u clip on bottom of a tube and it rolls it up
I am very (veryvery!) sensitive to perfumes - or, as my son called them when he was little, "pooh-fumes!" So any unscented solution immediately jumps to the top of my list. I use a lot of hydrogen peroxide - it cleans fabric, teeth and just about any hard surface. Last time I bought it, it was $0.92 for a 16-oz bottle and I'm still using it. Just be sure to label it if you transfer it to a different container, because it's colorless & odorless. You're doing a great job, Lindy!
I use the back of a comb to flatten the tube and push the toothpaste to the top. Then I cut the tube open and I still have a weeks worth of brushings left.
I also make my own homemade antibacterial/all purpose cleaner out of rubbing alcohol and vinegar. I have a quarterly $90 Medicare benefit that I use to get rubbing alcohol. All I have to pay for is the vinegar.
I'm a huge fan of vinegar and baking soda for many uses
I use only water, vinegar and Dawn dish soap for cleaning.
I use baking soda and tooth brush to clean under my fingernails. Keeps them very clean and keeps them from being yellow.
I’m frugal!!!!!
My friend dampens a paper towel with vinegar and lays it on her counter when she gets ants. She says they disappear and are repelled by it. I dampen a cloth with it to take the water spot out of drinking glasses. We have very hard water here. Soak your shower head in it to get the lime out and brush it with a hard plastic brush. It's good for cleaning your coffee maker. Pour in a cup, turn it on for 30 seconds and unplug it. After 30 minutes plug it in, run the cycle and do 2 more cycles with clean water. I spray my shower doors (glass) with it and let it sit a few minutes. Then I use a wet rag to wipe them down. Works on ceramic tile too. Deodorizes as it cleans and helps prevent mildew. Have a good one Lindy!😁✌
That's how I do my tubes.
We grew up using baking soda for brushing teeth until I went to the dentist for the first time when about 13. The dentist told my mom we needed to be using floride toothpaste. I use a clip on the end of tubes as I roll/fold the end up. As they say: Good to the last drop!!!
I went to the dentist for the first time at 13. I had four tiny cavities that didn’t even require Novocain to fill. It was amazing because dental hygiene wasn’t stressed in my house.
Hey Lindy🤗I use vinegar and baking soda to clean. I also make my laundry detergent using baking soda, Fels Napa and Zote soap shredded up in the baking soda and add a few of the arm and hammer scent beads . This works well for me since I only have my laundry to do. Hope you have a great day.
You can add salt to those 3 items as a good scrubbing agent.
There is an old fashioned book that used to advertise 101 useful ways with vinegar...i dont know if the us has ever heard of it..but definitely in the uk.x
Yes, we have those books in the US too, I have one on my shelf 😊
Great tip on dark spots, I will try that. ❤
I've been doing the baking soda and vinegar for as long as I can remember on the drains!! And as a toothpaste of course, but definitely had forgotten the one about deodorant and others! Guess you can say, been product struck for to long!! Gonna need to go back to the old ways, it's getting unbelievably to expensive!!
You know my mother always used comet When I was growing up. I can get it for a dollar, the Dollar tree or even Walmart. I use it on the toilet And shower. But now you have me rethinking because it does have a little bit of bleach in there and I don't even know what's in it. And I'd like to do things natural so I'm going to come up with a way. I'll figure out how to clean my toilet and shower with baking soda or vinegar and water. Thanks again!
There is 2 or 3 tips I'm going to try. Thanks :-)
I brush my teeth with baking soda. I didn’t know about bug bite salve or brown spit remover. Sometimes I make toothpaste with coconut oil and baking soda. I don’t use corn starch but that’s just because I didn’t know about it. My 3 things I use is baking soda, vinegar and salt. Lilac sugar sounds interesting. 😆 especially over ice cream. Tumbleweed? Really? That’s incredible. I would eat snakes before frogs lol. 😆
I have a plastic thing that I put on my tube of toothpaste and, once it gets to the end, I take the plastic thing off and squeeze out the rest. I find that there is still a bunch of lotion left in the pump bottle after it no longer pumps out. I then cut the bottle open to use up the rest. It will last at least a few more weeks.
I agree Lindy, these 3 products are so valuable. I have all of these in my home. Great video! Stay cool Lady!
Yup
Hi Lindy...glad you and Marley are on. Stay well and happy ❤😊Susie NYC
Hi Susie be safe.
When your done rolling the tube cut the bottom and get several more brushes out of it.
I 100%💯 agree. All you need is both vingars, the apple cider vinaget snd white binegar, baling soda, and cornstarch. I ocassionslly get vanilla extract and prppermint extract bevause its goid to have domething to make rhings smell plesant. And vsnilla is a natural disinfectant. And peppermint is good to get rid of ants, roaches, and other kinds of bugs. And peppermint is suposed to help get rid of mice.
Vinegar is good for taking the sting out of sunburn.
Great tips 👌 👍
Yes Lindy I agree Vinegar is a great cleaner and sanitizer. Use it to clean your windows, carpets, toilets and believe it or not as a stomach acid reliever. Or on your skin mixed with corn starch or baking soda for softer and new looking skin.
Yup, I'm doing the challenge.😊❤
Colgate original toothpaste as a belt dressing will stop screaming belts in your vehicles engine. Baking soda as fire extinguisher..Corn starch on legs an feet remove salty sand
Great tips! Vinegar is a great cleaner and deodorizer. Be careful with the baking soda on your teeth. It is abrasive and you could start to get sensitivity if used all the time. I was in the dental field for 38 years.
Thanks for the tip!
I cut the the end of the toothpaste tube also so I can get all the toothpaste out after I squeezed out all I can and I roll the toothpaste tube up to try to push out as much as possible. I usually use scissors because the two is easy to cut. I have made my own mouthwash which I like to use either peppermint essential oil or peppermint extract, coconut oil, a little bit of water, occasionally I will put some hydrogen peroxide in it, and I have made my own toothpaste. I make it out of baking soda, coconut oil, some peppermint essential oil or peppermint extract, and I put it in a glass jar that you use for vanning
I would like to start making my own deodorant and I would probably use some cornstarch a little baking soda and on eBay they have vanilla powder, I think lavender powder, and I would like to add aloe vera powder because aloe vera is so good for the skin. I would also like to see if I can get some vitamin A powder which is really E ood for the skin sorry for the misspelling. I am using my phone.
I also use some baking soda in place of like Ajax for an abrasive. Ajax is cheap though that’s a good product the powder.
Baking soda/hydrogen peroxide and coconut oil for teeth. Coconut is is good for skin too. Yes I prefer to clean with vinegar and water. Peppermint oil keeps the bugs away.
Vinegar softens your clothes and helps freshen them.
Dandelion plant you can eat and Polk salad
Love your frugal videos ! ❤️
I don't know how anyone could dislike the scent of lilacs. It's my absolute favorite scent, and I hate perfumes. Roses smell terrible to me.
My friend uses corn starch to clean her scalp instead of washing.
Another person I know ow uses corn starch and baking soda in a mixture as a deodorant.
Peroxide is also a great cleaner. I use I to clean pretty much everything. I only have it and vinegar as cleaners. But baking soda is good for clothing stains!
🙂👍
I brush my teeth with it sometimes to whiten them kind of let it soak on there in a pace for a few minutes
Dont 😊Worrys Sister we 😂Grind Somethings in mini coffee grinders Around Here
😅
I’d add alcohol to the essential list 🤗
LOL
I use baking soda and vinegar in my clothes wash
I have eat my share of toad frogs squirrel rabbit deer And anything else my dad could get
I cut the bottom off.. still lots to use.
SPOT remover not spit. Sorry my phone tries to sabotage me. 🙄
Looks like my toothpaste tube.
It's been arouĝh fee days stay away from moth cadipillar if you come in contact with the har you can get a rash I've been suffering for two days hope you have a great day I miss your live videos
We were poor and we eat whatever was put on the table.. We eat hog brains and Squirrel brains.. My mom would bowl the squirrel's head and we would crack them open and eat that we had no choice..
I bought a used car
That smelled like smoke
Baking soda in a plastic container with holes in top
Under car seat
No more smoke odor
Took a few weeks
For toothpaste I drag the spine of my comb up the tube and move the paste up to the cap. I also fold the bottom of the tube just to the empty line and put a binder clip on it to stop the paste from migrating back down...
