of course it is a beautiful country with nice people. I was born bread and lived there for 56 years but alas one day in July 1983 during the riots we were on the road sleeping on cardboards with my kids. I will never ever think of even visiting Sri Lanka for goodness sake.

I am ashamed that these things happened in our country to our fellow brothers.. But guess what.. Every country had dark periods... Even India.. Because soon after the colonialists left a big power vacuum was created and the countries were in a messed up state. SO language issues and ethnic riots were common, which even resulted in bigger problems like the separation of Pakistan and the call for Khalistan. However, now all the communities have realized the importance of togetherness and have now come to the common grounds. So I suggest that you better come to SL now... It's not 80s anymore. Plus.. so called developed countries have done worse things during that period.. i.e holocaust, apartheid, and discriminations against black people in the US, white Australia policy etc. But you would go to Australia woudn't you? Therefore, I believe, SL will definitely welcome you back, but you have to forget the past.. ( I know the trauma you went thru hurts though)
