  • Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder said the previous-generation Hyundai Sonata went a long way in raising the esteem of the Korean automaker, holding its own against the likes of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Can the 2015 redesign continue that momentum?

    I like the longer in depth video about the styling and comparisons tot the old model you did here, and nice shots of the interior.

    Toyota & Lexus nowadays = noise, vibration and harshness and small, thinly padded seats (unless you spend $80,000 for the LS460). And I say that as a former 1991 LS400 owner. The 2015 Sonata offers a serene, riding on a cloud type ride with an eerie lack of wind noise and subdued road noise. Great for fatigue free long distance driving. And an incredible bargain at just $21,000 for the silky smooth riding base model that comes with road bump absorbing 16" wheels. Toyota is not the same company it was 20 years ago - the formerly plush interiors and ride quality are long gone whereas Hyundai keeps improving their cars in those two vital characteristics.

    • @4af
      @4af Před 9 lety +1

      ***** Only the $50,000 on up Lexus's (RX, GX, LS, GS) have a smooth, quiet ride. The $39,000 base model ES350 is no smoother or quieter than the base model $21,000 2015 Sonata. I've also done some Hyundai owner research and found many of them have driven 200,000 - 400,000 miles without major drivetrain repairs or replacements.

    • @TheMIkenet
      @TheMIkenet Před 9 lety +1

      Well one of the reasons Toyota got rid of the soft ride is people complained it wasn't sporty and it was floaty. I own a 2007 Camry and trust me id rather own this with the brown leather interior. What a nice looking car this is.

    • @4af
      @4af Před 8 lety

      +Richard Williams the base Sonata will have low highway road noise if fitted with Hankook Optimo H724 tires after purchase. The factory original tires are fairly quiet, but not exceptionally so like the H724's are.

    Grill mounted radar = $4500+ repair bill for a front end minor collision rather than under $1000.
    Also, if this Hyundai is assembled in the US, don't expect the initial quality to last much longer than initially.

    • @kyron9622
      @kyron9622 Před 5 lety +1

      Don't get "assembled in the US" and designed in the us confused. Cars that are built in the United States have the highest built quality in the industry. American cars put together as well as they could be because manufacturers like Ford and GM build their cars in Mexico. Everyone knows that's a "no go"

    I got this car last week. Let me give you guys some feedbacks.
    Overall the car drives quite well for a 4-cylinder turbo. Noise level of engine and drive is somewhat in the mid range. My previous car was a 2012 Genesis and this 2015 Sonata is not better but doable.
    Cons:
    The car doors were not aligning correctly. Doors were a bit off from the quarter panels and rear passengers door. I was not able to open driver's side passenger the door. I have to pull the handle twice in order to open the door. Dealership had to take my car in for a day to fix these issues. I got the car on Friday and return to dealership for repairs on Monday, go figure. Hyundai Alabama must be rushing to get this car out of factory because their QC is way below par. I was told the car was also inspected when it arrives at dealership before it can be sold to me. The QC level at the dealership must be the same as factory, below average. How Hyundai is able to miss all doors alignment is beyond my comprehension. I really hope the doors are the only problems and nothing on the brakes or steering as they have a recall earlier when they roll out the 2015 Sonata 2.4s and SEs. My advice to all my fellow buyers: Beware and please check all the doors alignment, make sure they are flushed with quarter panels and rear passenger doors. Oh BTW, even after they fix my doors, one of the doors is still not aligned correctly. I will need to take the car in again. OMG. What is waste of my time.
    Bluetooth Audio Streaming: All 2015 Sonata has this problem and their engineers are working on a fix. If you try to stream your music from your phone to the car's Bluetooth system, get ready for a break/pause every 15 seconds. I was told Hyundai knew about this problem but they will still sell the car anyway. Currently I'm waiting for a software patch which will fix this but who knows when. I suggest all buyers to stay the away from this car until maybe a year later till they fix all defects. If you have a iphone 5 or better, wait for Apple Carplay to be installed before you get the car. I kind of regretted getting this car so early in the game as Carplay cannot be retro to the current 2015 Sonata models. Plus I'm not sure what other problem I may encounter. Better wait then be sorry like me.

    Window Lock: Yesterday I found a new problem. Window lock function is not working. There is a window lock button on the driver's side left armrest. Supposedly when this function is on, other passengers in the car is not able to open their windows. Mine doesn't work. This function is broken for my car. Sad story, Hyundai miss it during their under par QC.
    Pro:???
    With so many current problems, my pros are clouded with the cons so there is nothing good to say about the car now. Until they fix all my car's existing problems, I may update this review with some goods. Thanks for reading and hope you all buy other cars for now.

    • @FLJAMESFL
      @FLJAMESFL Před 10 lety

      doomalz3eem My point is that, I may pay a little more for a Lexus but at the end of the day you will have a reliable car and a lot more value left in the car. CT starts at 30, IS starts at 36. Do your research on resale values, and reliability data for both brands.

    • @FLJAMESFL
      @FLJAMESFL Před 10 lety +1

      Jesse Lee Lexus is the number brand for resale or trade-in value. Ranging anywhere between 50-58%. That's a fact, just do your research, Hyundai's are in the low 40's. And finally, the Hyundai he was reviewing was loaded for 32 grand. 26 grand is the starting price for the Limited model, but not fully loaded.

    • @alex123453839
      @alex123453839 Před 9 lety +1

      FLJAMESFL No Lexus that's worth driving will come anywhere close to this in price. If the Lexus is so good why don't they throw in the 100 thousand mile warranty. Its the fact that Hyundai stands behind their product.

    • @FLJAMESFL
      @FLJAMESFL Před 9 lety

      alex123453839 Lexus would never need to have a 100K warranty because there product speaks for it self. Did you just see the reliability report just released on Oct 27 2014? Lexus is still #1 then Toyota. Hyundai was like 16 or something like that. These are facts my friend. DO YOUR RESEARCH PLEASE!!!!
