Saturn got himself in trouble and they tried to bury him with the moppy gimmick but he was so talented he made it work. With Malenko, I think they just wanted him to be someone he wasnt. Instead of embracing his Iceman gimmick and just letting him be a technical machine, they wanted to try to make him charismatic and more marketable somehow and ended up turning him into a weird sex addicted creep. Poor booking choices for both of them for sure.

There was an even earlier iteration of proto-ABA Undertaker (sunglasses, bandanna, the works) that people say that it was Mark being pissed off at a real-life setback (his luggage was lost by the airport), and Mark being upset was written as Taker being upset and demanding to see Vince throughout the evening--see the Jun. 8th, 1998 RAW for this specific event; Taker interfered on the Chainz vs. Droz (already concluded), Mark Henry vs. Vader (seemingly a no contest due to the interference), Dustin Runnels vs. Val Venis (also a no contest) matches; as well as the "Humanitarian of the Year" ceremony.
On the other hand, Vince also loaned other former-ECW talent to ECW although this was even obscurer--the Dudley Boyz made an appearance on one of the last ECW TV shows (Dec. 15th, 2000) tagging with Tommy Dreamer against CW Anderson, Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger.

I like how they said "Chris Benoit's career was intertwined with wrestlers who really do deserve to be mentioned"....I mean, Benoit doessss deserve to be mentioned. Maybe im alone, maybe this is a highly unpopular opinion but Benoits wrestling career was amazing. His personal life is clearly awful, no arguing that, but his in ring career should be noted. That night where him & Eddie stood in the ring, both as champions, is one of the best moments of that WWE Era. It deserves to be noted, & his career as a great wrestler, willing to put even his severely degenerated brain on the line to wrestle, should be noted. So to say he doesn't deserve to be mentioned is nonsense & I know I'll get hate because of his life ending decisions but you cannot deny his in ring contributions.

@@Oregonduck09 plenty of people did commit suicide and became invalid because of the approach of wwe. Benoit took more bumps than most. Remember that sickening headbutt from the top rope? guess not, because you aren't a wrestling fan but a snowflake. you can't speak for the reality of fans though companies may have their own corporate approaches. Regardless of how he was as a person, he was an amazing wrestler and that is what matters when we are discussing wrestling. do take out time and learn about people like Owen and Chyna amongst numerous others. WWE did them hard, and that is what monopolisation does.
