@@LEOCUJIA I decided to move on. There were too many delays because of covid. So I got my hand into something different. After waiting for almost a year, they sent my medical back asking for additional information. I the asked my Recruiter how long it would take to get the ball rolling. He said I would have to redo the fit test again at some point (whenever they opened up)..So with all that, and no real time line, I decided it was time to let it go. Maybe they are up and running now. Im a bit bummed out, but that's tge way it goes. I wish I had good news for you friend.

@@jphilipl-p1594 I ended up dropping out of the process. Everything was all whacked because of Covid. They sent my medical back to me after an 11 month wait asking for more information. Then I was told with the wait, I would have to requalify. Hearing this, I threw in the towel. I'm sure I would have been fine if I waited it out, but I became disillusioned. It was 2020 when I first applied. Who even knows if I would have started training even by now. It was a mess. I'm sure you will qualify, and it's probably a bit smoother. If you are curious, make an appointment and find out. I'm kinda torn over whether I should have just stuck it out.

@@jphilipl-p1594 I wish you all the best.
Honestly I'm not sure I'm feeling the need anymore. That's why I wanted to do this in the first place. I wanted to join as a career when I was younger but met my wife while in the middle of the process. I chose her over pursuit of the Army. But it always knawed at me. So I figured I would give it another go. I was SURE it was happening this time until the shut everything down. The longer the wait, the more i just decided to move on.
The only way I join now is if they NEED people. An interesting little factoid but when I sat down with the recruiter, some...16 years after the first time, they had my name on the computer already as a prospect. That fascinated me.

    Wow!!! Bravo!
I have always believed that "age is ONLY a number" ... It's all in our attitude... You can be only in your 30s but feel old, and conversely, you can be in your 60s, 70s or even older, and yet feel your life has just begun (especially true for those who have just retired 🙂 )... As Mr. Henry Ford once said: "Whether you think you can, or you can't, you are correct."... So, here you ARE a real life testimony...
    My hat's off to you...
A new brother-in-arms is born and welcome to the Canadian Armed Forces...
I am very proud to call you my brother!!!
Let the adventure begin et Bonne chance.

Holy cow, so great seeing this story. I'm in my mid 50s, from Ottawa, went off to Japan to teach English "for a year or 2" hahaha. Between Japan and Korea, I've been teaching/running my own business in Asia for almost 3 decades. Now applying to join the CAF. Did reserve training in the late 80s, and always wondered if that was a path I should have continued down.

Agree, however, I think it is because the term of service which dictates, for an officer, minimum SSE (Short Service Engagement) contract is 9 years if that has not yet changed. He is 53yo, so CRA (Compulsory retirement Age) 60, that means he would not qualify...
