Dawn deserves everything. She’s hardworking, a genius, hilarious, and a great friend. Her Brock and ash were the best! My favorite is where she’s like to Paul “pardon me for living” savage
Dawn's was the first of Ash's companions that truly felt like a co-lead to me. As much as I love Brock and Misty they were always just supporting characters who didn't really have their own storylines. May was a step in the right direction but her contests never felt as importants as Ash's gym battles (I mean Ash barely ever saw her compete because he was training for gym/frontier battles instead).
Dawn just had a storyline like may,and may's was better cause it's starting from she doesn't even like Pokemon,and brock also have his story line,and you're saying dawn is the first one has a story line besides ash?

@@sundharavel2332 may was just like ash but more timid actually in the beginning she reminded me of those party guests who are just there for the cake in other words she just became a trainer just so she could travel if she wasn’t exposed to contests I think she would’ve just slid thru her journey thru Hoenn and who knows what would’ve become of her if she hadn’t met ash
In fact May seemed even more important than Ash in Hoenn. Mei had major rivals while Ash didn't have them, nonetheless yes. in Sinnoh, Dawn was pumped up by her competitions.

It was truly a waste of time to try and make Chloe somewhat like Dawn. Chloe will never replace her in all our hearts.
Chloe wouldn’t be like Dawn in any case. She wasn’t a co-lead,not even a proper travel companion. Just some tag along girl whom writers tried to shove on us. And funny thing is the more they shoved,the least popular she became lool.
Dawn,Misty,Serena,May has their own fanbase for a reason.

They are already helping him by holding piplup at the best .
Iris yelled , " No way !! He's responsible for what is happening now , and how much strength does this penguin hold in his tiny body . I am tired?!"
It was true , because piplup was all ready to drench Cilan with his whirlpool and blast him off all out from this unknown Pokemon World only possible , if Pikachu was patiently holding him along with the courtesy of Ash and Iris .
" Piplup..is a bodyguard cum best friend and brother like figure to Dawn and it's obvious for him to react like this , Iris "

Characters looks or weakness doesn’t matter as much as their role time and their intellectual strength (aka iq/eq ). Role time shows weather a character is a co-lead or a side character. And intellectual strength is what makes the character interesting for a mature or adult person.
Misty was strong ( both iq and EQ wise) but had a side role aka little screen-time for her character development.
where as enough exposure was given to May’s and serena’s role but serena was too naive/clueless and May being unconfident which again might be interesting for kids/babies but too boring to watch this as an adult.
Dawn indeed was both the co-lead and an ambitious character which falls to be an excellent reason for why she’s the best and our favorite
