Over here in the UK, we have Stewed Steak in a can, which is beef offcuts (cos they aren't going to use prime cuts!) slow cooked in a sauce made up of typical ingredients you'd use in a casserole but without the vegetables, it's nice to have on hand when you need that dose of cow but haven't the patience to slow-cook it... :)

Btw, I've eaten canned meat 5 years past the best buy date and it was still absolutely delicious! I tell people this so they're not afraid to stock up in case it "goes bad". Not at all!
Thank you so much for posting. It's always so nice to hear from people who also believe in self sufficiency and being prepared for all of life's surprises. My family and I have had our ups and downs but we've never gone hungry and have always had access to good food. We can go months without going to a grocery store and if our income is interrupted for whatever reason, we can still eat and the cash we still have coming in can still pay the bills. I've seen canned taco meat at the dollar store, but never canned cheesesteak meat before. I always wait for ground beef to go on sale (or some heavily-discounted "Manager's Special" ground beef to show up in the meat department), but if value-priced ground beef just weren't to be had the next time I wanted to slow-cook a pot of chili, I'd toss a can or two of "taco meat" in instead.

Thanks for the canned meat company!! I'm always on the hunt for great small business meat providers.

Hormel does a 15-ounce beef tips in gravy that's cryovacked with a sell-by date two or three months ahead for around $8.00, and it's much like my pot roast. Some of that weight is gravy, but it's still enough to split into three meals for me. (I do add seasoning.) The big virtue of this canned beef is its very long shelf life, so if it migrates to the back of your pantry shelf and you forget about it for a year or three it's still fine. It's always good to have a good emergency meal available when you have unexpected dinner guests!

Looks delicious. I buy the canned roast from Walmart and make it 3 ways. 1. One canned roast drained + sauteed onions + Taco Seasoning = Soft Tacos. 2. One canned roast drained + diced onion + seasonings + soy sauce + 1 can condensed Cream of Chicken Soup + 1/2 can water = Creamed soup with meat. 3. One canned roast drained + diced onion + Soy Sauce + 1 TBSP flour + 1 packet Beef Ramen broken up in small pieces + 1.5 cups water = Beef Ramen in gravy.

    $13 a can…. Not for the average Joe.. 😮
This is for those rich doomsday preppers with a million dollar bunker

Do you _really_ want to go cheap on your bunker and food supplies? That does not seem like a good place to cut corners.

The only corners the 1%ers cut is on their taxes… not their canned beef for an apocalypse… 🤣

Actually, there's a company that produces high-end gourmet freeze-dried rations like steak and lobster. All with a 25-year shelf life. It cost between 60 and $100 a bag. One bag will feed 1 person for a day. So that's most likely what the elites and 1%ers are putting in their bunkers.😅

The breadless meat would go great with some eggs, any way you like the eggs. Over easy on the side, scrambled on the side, or just mixed in before you add the cheese (shredded cheddar instead of provolone).

Yum! Tender beef for a sandwich or thicken with flour and pour over buttery mashed potatoes. And sausage gravy over biscuits is my favorite.

Sausage/Pepper cream gravy over hot biscuits...BTW, when you started listing off all the things you could make with this can of beef, you invoked Bubba from Forest Gump listing of a three day list of all the tings you can make with shrimp. Well done, sir
