Hey NOAB
Hey I’ve seen the video where you replaced your friends PC
I love your videos noab
same bro
If you had played on the 16:9 first, I wonder if the outcome would be the same. Taking into account that playing 10 games on ultrawide provides a pretty solid warm up experience for the 16:9. Especially, if this was done in a day or two, your skills, responses, and tactics would only improve the longer you play in a condensed timeframe.
or the first ten games on the ultra wide coulda also fatigued him a bit too.

I actually just bought my ultra wide monitor (29” LG) two weeks ago and I’ve noticed some improvements in my productivity during the day and gaming at night for sure... I don’t see myself getting another monitor tbh because this one fits my needs! Glad I chose the ultrawide.
did u get the WQ600??
I have this exact monitor and absolutely LOVE it! I play MMO’s , FPS and can’t say I’ve ever once thought negatively about it in ANY way.
1:34 I come home after school and check your channel every day. I love you bro
I am a big fan you have got me through a lot of stuff in life thank you
I think that while the 16:9 monitor is alright for competitive or sweaty gaming, the ultrawide can do the same. Majority of the time the benefit for using an ultrawide is it's capability to see more around you so more info on screen for you and what not. So tbh this all depends on the player's choice. Good hardware and yeah love the vids
I think this is the problem when playing a game such as CoD on those tiny maps, you don't really get to use the wider picture and viewling angle because the game doesn't make use of it. Other games (or rather a real shooter) such as Battlefield could see more use here and especially MOBA's or RTS games.
@@Jousten16 It's even worse for Mobas, specially League of Legends, I tried it and when using the Ultrawide I couls see myself looking to the minimap less often, so that made me miss some important information throughout the game.
@@miguelfelipedias It was the opposite for me, I found I played better and I climbed further than what I ever had this season using my BenQ ultrawide. I tried to go back to a 16:9 monitor and i just couldn't. Depends on the person for the most part I suppose.
Hey guys I am a content creator who doesn't get recognition so please small CZcamsrs you mostly support ppl with fake channel of big CZcams so just support not only me all small yotuubersr
ultrawide makes me dizzy
Yeah that would lead me to believe that it depends slightly on the monitor type you practice on the most
Hold up. You should rerun this test with the actual 21:9 aspect ratio. You basically played a stretched version of 16.9. It negated the actual extra 30% real estate you can get. Actually explains how the numbers were so close in the end. You may have done worse on the ultrawide due to the stretching. It could have absolutely played a role in messing with how you perceived your targets. I feel like I may be the only one who noticed you played at 16:9 on that 21:9 monitor.
Dude this drove me nuts
yeah, i was wondering why the gameplay looked stretched. i think he forgot to adjust the fov
You had my like until I saw this TechSource

i have the same monitor setup as you Ed and i personally love the symmetry and experience , ill have to send my submission in to setup wars soon!
Do you use your ultrawide then for gaming? I am thinking of getting one for gaming but not sure to just stick to a 27 inch monitor but better specs
@@gorgislive it depends on what game, if i need high fps im using my 240hz alienware 25" monitor. i have it on a separate monitor arm off the wall above the ultrawide like ed. i have them stacked like his new setup. my 25" on top and 34" ultrawide on bottom both on separate wall arms. but i do game on both, i gave on rainbow six on the 25" and i game on halo, rouge company, among us, squadrons on the ultrawide. i only game on the 25" when i want to get super competitive. but i can send you a link for the one i got and it is amazing and at a very great price. www.microcenter.com/product/618536/aoc-cu34g2x-34-qhd-144hz-hdmi-dp-freesync-ultrawide-curved-led-gaming-monitor
it just depends on your games, if you want to sweat, id get a 16:9 monitor at a high refresh rate and at 1080p, but also depends on the pc you are running, it has to be able to push those pixels. im running a 3700x and 2070 super and i get on average on ultra settings, maybe 175-230 fps on 1080p and 150-180 on my ultrawide. so just make sure you have the juice to be able to have a ultrawide.
@@ethanbowers3604 I will be getting a 3080 either the TUF Gaming version or the MSI x trio card, with 16gb of ram too. I am not sure if I should just stick with my usual 27-inch monitor experience and get a nice 2560x1440p monitor which is curved obviously for all games then have either the same monitor for the 2nd for multitasking or get a 24 inch on top. Or just get a curved ultrawide 34" on the bottom with 144hz gsync 1ms, and have a 24 inch on top. The games I usually play are modern warfare soon to be the new cod, watchdogs legion soon, cyberpunk, rdr2, and high-end games pretty much, I do get competitive on modern warfare and similar games but I am not sure how I will like it on the ultrawide you know?
@@gorgislive i get ya
One of the advantages of ultra-wide, though, and I think you didn't use it here, is the fact that you can increase field of view without distorting the lens too much.

I honestly just love tech source videos ed u are doing an amazing job...you have even inspired me to build my self a setup..i am from Ethiopia which is in Africa and i dont see anyone here with setups and u have thought me a lot..thanks
Bro pis nesh. Im from Ethiopia too. Whats your spec.
Its hard to judge because of Skill-Based-Match-Making. Some games I can get 20+kills and the next I can only get 1-10 kills. Being that the numbers were so close I think you could be just as good on either monitor that it doesn't matter, It just depends on what your more comfortable on. 16:9 is still considered the standard because its what gamers are used to playing on, for being competitive in FPS games it comes down to consistency. Jumping to 21:9 can make it hard to adjust because you will have to remap your sensitivity but I'm sure over time if you play on it long enough it wouldn't make a difference and you could be just as good with an ultrawide as you were with a 16:9.
I love when Ed makes these types of videos man
Damn your movement and gun gameplay skills are really good!

@@fazebizzle4524 he said in the video he would play on the same refresh rate on both
I'm a bit curious but the ultrawide gameplay looks (to me) stretched, meaning that you won't get the extra screen space view that ultrawide offers (kinda like how csgo players use 16:10 or 4:3 aspect ratio on 16:9 monitor to see their opponents bigger while trading off being able to detect opponents to the side of there FOV). I think you should redo this experiment but this time with full resolution and full aspect ratio. The similar results kinda support this.
Yea he messed up.
You're the best! Keep it up.
well to be honest after i saw that display setup at 0:50 i cant use my mind. You gave me so much idea 😅 and what an old video from 2020 :D
Dude said they cry when I clap their cheeks😂😂
You could argue that the more experience on you have 16:9 monitor could have made up for the 0.18 better k/d. Id be curious if you used only the 21:9 monitor for a few weeks for gaming then did the same test what the results would be.
This is how i feel. Ive been using ultrawide for years playing Halo infinite and am just super used to it.
LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!
Great video. Can you share what monitor arms you are using for the two monitors stacked on top of each other? Thanks!

Hey Ed, good one as always. I have a query, recently got two good deals, one for a 10900k and another for 3080. I currently have 9900ks, 2080 Ti, 16gb 3200 ram and 1080p 144Hz display. I have got no performance deficiency so far. Question is, should I go for either deal or just wait for Ti/Super series card? Or just get a better monitor?
You used the same resolution? So you used a 16:9 res on a 21:9 monitor? Kinda defeats the point of the comparison. Try again but at native res.

@@zmoclov21 ?

@@zmoclov21 there is no res at the time stamp. What are you suggesting I do? Zoom in and count the pixels? Anyway you can clearly see he is running a 16:9 res with how stretched it is.

@techsource what monitor arms do you use? I'm liking how you can pull down the smaller monitor Infront of the ultra wide for some games
Aye lets go another tech source upload!
I agree I use the exact something curved for content creation and regular monitor for gaming
ultrawide for immersive single player games, 16:9 for competitive high refresh shooters. 21:9 for shooters is too hard for me, i see too much and can't focus lol
That Fire and Ice deskmat from AuraMech is clean af
Did you adjust the monitor distance coefficient to fit the correct monitor when switching? Otherwise the same mouse sensitivity will move slightly different when switching screen.
I can agree to this.
I have the AOC 24G2, mostly because I game and also sometimes make videos.
And coming from a 15in screen to 24in, it already is a bit strange and I find the 24in kinda overwhelming. So I can't even begin to think 27in, let alone 30+.
For gaming, I would go 24-27in and stay there.
If you just have a gaming YT channel or something similar, a single 24-27in monitor with a smaller 10-12in screen for when you stream or something seems ideal to me.
Just my opinion and thoughts.
Can't wait to finish my setup and enter setup wars!
Haha Good Vid Ed!
The 16:9 monitor was a tn monitor and the ultrawide a nano-ips, the tn has a faster pixel response time
Love the shirt fam!

What mount is ed using for that tilt for the ultrawide monitor? His setup looks dope
Im going to do this experiment for my science fair project
Amazing video
I think it won't change much. More FOV is only beneficial if you're looking for immersion in games that doesn't involve performance or competition. The discussion, I think, should be: Ultrawide VS High Refresh rate, since having a ultrawide monitor which ALSO has High Refresh Rate is considerably more expensive. Overall the video is great and I think the results shown are not that much different, probably because of the low sampling it's a matter of margin of error.

What about the raw fact that you have a wider viewing angle on an ultra wide allowing you to see more around you thus giving you an advantage?
I am that kind of a person who would use a 5K Ultrawide from LG(34WK95-U) and a normal 16:9 monitor something like a LG27GN950 or Acer X27 for gaming at 4K 144Hz. And lastly I would love to have HDR :-D! HDR is like a drug probably- if a display has proper HDR then I am sold. Can't wait to save up (would take time) and buy the above 2 monitors or better in mentioned above!
Thanks
