Outside of anime, there's a Chinese comic that takes this concept to the next level and basically bases the entire plot on top of it - it's called "I'm Really Not The Demon God’s Lackey". For me it's one of the best comics out there ...though it is a little bit gorey and leaning on the side of body horror with it's fantasy elements.

I loved Tearmoon Empire. I ignored Shadow on account I am so tired of harems. I am rooting for a second season of Tearmoon empire. I just hope the author doesn't fall into the Shield hero trap.

Anime that has some of these aspects imo is "the genius prince's guide to raising a nation out of debt". The twist there is not that the mc is actually a bad ruler, but that his plans keep on working a little too well, keeping him from his real goal: selling his kingdom to the highest bidder and live a luxurious life without responsibilities. Would highly suggest giving it a watch, I had a blast

A different fake it till you make it I LOVE is in the Villainess Turns the Hourglass. She doesnt fake being smart and cunning (she Is) what she fakes is being friendly and being kind to 'allies'. But eventually all that faking turns into Actually caring about people those people. Not everyone, she only has a select few she truly cares about, if your an enemy she can fake kindness while plotting their demise with no ounce of remorse!

My Next Life as a Villainess has a bit of this. A gamer girl gets reincarnated into her favorite fantasy, but much to her horror, as Caterina, a mean girl who is accidently killed by the hero. Like Tearmoon Empire, all her actions are to avoid death, but they are interpreted by the other main characters as her being an odd but genuinely nice person.
The Most Heretical Boss Queen takes the same premise and turns it on its head, as the MC is so disgusted by her character's evil deeds in the original story she _wants_ to be killed, and is trying to save the other main characters from herself.

In a way, Steins;Gate has that fake it til you make it thing.
SPOILER: A show about time travel, where the MC is a chuuni who acted all over the top, but deep down, he knows he aint got it. When he's down on his luck and had to accept the fact that he needed to let someone he loved die, that's when he received a message from his future self, telling him "you can do it, and in fact you already did it. now go do it." and ended the message with his usual Chuuni catch phrase.

Folks. Saitama is an interesting one too. We all know he is no fake. As real as they come.
Yet he has this tsundere student who is bloodthirsty for revenge and on a path for getting stronger. Yet when Saitama is honest with him about how he got strong, Genos feels insulted because nobody can this strong just by doing that! Clearly sensei is making fun of me!
This pushes our beloved Saitama faking it. He has no wisdom to give. So why not just make up. It’s hilarious when Genos takes notes on stuff Saitama is making up.
