I remember the Ford Sierra XR4i, which was sold in Germany at the time. It has a very smooth 2.8-liter V6 and was one of the first aerodynamically designed cars on the roads in the early 80s. Later, the famous four-wheel drive Cosworth became a legend. Thanks for sharing
what a great car Don and Patty. i really enjoyed the video. much success with ownership to you both.
Thank you kindly
When you squint your eyes, it has a Pacer-adjacent vibe from the side. It's the greenhouse windows. Love the color!
Did you notice that I threw in a food review for you... :)

Very nice buy, and welcome to the group.
Its was a single color, someone swapped/repainted trim and bumpers.
The dual black stripe is still continues on single color Fords today.
Monochromatic silver was never offered. This is the factory color combo.
I like the early cars with the biplane spoiler
Agreed
Yup, '87 is the sweet spot! Best looking wheels too!
Very nice! Great condition. Enjoy your new to you XR4Ti. They are very fun to drive and own.
Edit: The cosworth wing does not fit with the wide rear windows of the 87-up XR4Ti. It was likely not installed as it requires the earlier narrow window hatch to mount properly. It can be custom mounted, but there will be overhang and odd fitment on the wide window hatch.
Yep....my plan would be to find an early hatch and fit it to that. Thanks for watching!
And with a real Wirt Meter!
Great! Welcome to Euro Ford ownership! I’ve got several with some vids here on YT. Have fun!
Thanks! 👍
Lots of Sierra XR4i cars and parts in the UK!
:(
This was sold as the Ford Sierra in Germany. My dad bought one of these as a 5door back in 84 or 85, after somebody t-boned his beautiful BMW E21 and he wanted to have something bigger for the family.
I was like 9 or 10 at the time and I remember it to be the worst car he ever owned. He took delivery during summer and the car didn’t have airconditioning, so it really became a greenhouse after minutes and smelled horribly like cheap plastic.
My brother and I became sick momentarily when sitting underneath the big glass back with the sun directly on our heads and mum would only sit in the car when the windows where rolled down.
It improved after a couple of months going into autumn when the plasticizers had evaporated from the interior, but nobody in the family fell in love with the car. Dad traded it in for a VW Passat station wagon the next year.
We test drove one in 1985....ultimately bough a Fiero GT instead. If it would have been outfitted with the Mustang 5.0 V8, we would have gone with the Merkur.
The euro headlights should be plenty bright. There may be a wiring or ground issue.
Right? I'll will have some fun figuring that one out
I always thought these were kind of cool cars. Back when I was a new/used car manager in the early and mid nineties, customers would want to occasionally trade these in when buying a new car. Unfortunately for whatever reason they had hardly any wholesale trade value whatsoever. The customers always owed way more than they were worth. I remember taking several of them in for $500-$1000 each. I'm not sure why they devalued so quickly.
They depreciated like a rock in water. No one wanted them, Ford did a terrible job promoting them....the last model year, they were discounted 30% new on the lot
I’d rather have a 1970 superbird.
So would everyone else....Until it comes time to parallel park....LOL
